And Sweet Lucy's!! It's pretty far from Center City, but it is always worth the drive. You should add Percy St BBQ to the list. It's pretty amazing!

Epcot is now Las Vegas for the east coast.Slight update: been walking World Showcase all afternoon with the gf. Definitely noticed a ton (15 is probably a low estimate) of bachelorette parties, and an abundance of new graduates. Increasingly throughout the day I've seen exponentially more wasted people, either trying to get as much of F&G stand drinks as possible before it ends, or (if they're like any of us) kicking them back because they know what this gate is actually offering.
Saw a bunch of corporate casual CMs and security swarm the women's bathroom in the UK cause some girl was wasted, puking, and half asleep taking about "her birthday" and numerous wasted 'guests' falling over each other, screaming happy birthday songs to friends, or just speaking unfiltered to one another, regardless of what age or type of person hears it. I saw someone that was absolutely hammered hanging on their significant other and get a running start for the steps to the Mexico pavilion
Cast members have been friendly, though slightly off topic. One CM in Morocco pointed out a colleague and told me he was from Philly after I said I'm originally from there. I thought the CMs in WS were actually from those countries, but apparently only secondarily or tertiarily.
I was "randomly selected" for the metal detector at the gate for the third time in a row (I must be a suspicious looking fellow, with my nonexistent backpack, clean-shaven face, and generally happy disposition). Haven't gone on any rides, so I can't comment on the wait times, but the same shirt parties and Brazilian vacationers are starting to coalesce.
Pray for me, send me vibes, anything you or your selected deity do. It's kind of a wreck here today guest-wise.
Not even close. That's an insult to Las VegasEpcot is now Las Vegas for the east coast.
I'm really curious to see how they'd transition the attraction into the existing Fantasyland aesthetic, if it does indeed stay. Especially next to Frozen. Seems like it would be such a jarring, awkward area.Originally, I didn't think so. But I am getting the feeling that it might.
Not even close. That's an insult to Las VegasI love WDW as much as the next person here but the stuff that happens at EPCOT or even in the past at PI is just plain tame compared to a slow night in Vegas.

I was in Vegas for a business conference in February, staying at Vdara. After seeing a show at Hard Rock and driving back, I missed the shooting near Planet Hollywood (where the victims drove across LV Blvd and wrecked at the Cosmopolitan) by minutes. That's all too frequent out there now. I'm waiting for the EPCOT crow to kick it up a bit, like someone finding a Mexican drug tunnel in the Mexico pavilion, or a Mob shooting in Italy, or som Soccer Hooligans starting a bar fight at the Rose&Crown. (Yeah I know. But with all the crime bleeding over to various vacation spots, I may as well go for stereotypical things, right?)Epcot is now Las Vegas for the east coast.
an Everest clone? what will they have? a Thanos AA in disco yeti mode?Oh, and since I alluded to it earlier, Shanghai's Phase II is moving ahead at lightning speed because, again, despite what fanbois on the Tweeter say, SDL's menu simply doesn't provide enough attractions, enough capacity.
Right now, it appears the Captain America coaster hybrid for DCA will be reskinned to another Marvel character (most likely Iron Man or Spidey -- just opinion here) and along with an Everest clone and an Alice in Wonderland trackless ride should be the three big attractions added with another spinner or the like added to round out the expansion. Plans are in flux, but the above is pretty damn solid or I wouldn't put it out now.
shhh, silence sinner.. dont give them ideas!I'm surprised the free guac is still around.
No problem. I read everything on my threads ... at least for the first hundred pages and then ... not so much unless great conversation is being had. I respond where I feel appropriate.
I'm just reporting what my sources tell me. And on Shanghai they have been damn near 100% perfect. So sure, they could be off here ... or maybe Disney was just able to kick things into gear. Not sure. I haven't gotten notes from anyone (and they read me almost as religiously as the fanboi Twits) that something I've posted is off or that things have changed. But when you jump on me and do so in what came off quite accusatory ... well, let's just say I've had years of experience with people taking potshots at me. Legit criticism I absolutely can handle.
I absolutely agree with the above. When I look at WDW's current state I blame Iger, Chapek and Kalogridis (in that order) because they are tasked with the responsibility of running the operation. I could blame some of the people who have come before ... from Al Weiss to Lee Cockerell to Paul Pressler to Michael Eisner to Jay Rasulo to Tom Staggs to plenty of folks I am leaving out, but the bottom line in May of 2016 falls to the current leadership.
With the current level of profits, Disney could do great things even while parks like TPFKaTD-MGMS is a mess. Let's give some free consulting (something I hate doing, but they won't steal this one so who cares?) now. Instead of offering $69 cupcake parties for Star Wars pyro viewing, imagine the good will Disney could engender if every day there was a Star Wars Surprise at the Studios as this giant mess takes place in the cesspool (don't tell crazy Tom Amity) that once was a great park. Imagine if every day something different and special were offered FOR FREE as part of the park's transformation? One day you show up and find out that Luke Skywalker himself is there and the first 1,000 people in get free autographs and admission to a chat with him that is broadcast throughout the park. Another day, everyone who shows up is given a pin (not a cheap one ... but a pin they'd sell for $6.99 or $8.99) SW related. Another day, everyone who walks through gets a coupon good for a free Yoda cupcake. Another day, guests randomly win SW prizes (everything from plush to art). etc etc.
You think that good will might mean something? Disney is so greedy and arrogant, though.
But back to your point as it is a good one: today's problems shouldn't be blamed on Shanghai or NGE, but on the execs who are in charge of those expenditures.
I can't speak to that. Others were talking about the location of various parts of SWL, which -- to be fair to them -- were in flux often over the last three years. But I NEVER said SWL is going in (fill in the blank) area. So please don't blame me for that.
What things don't line up? I'd like to know what I have said in this thread (or others) recently that was or is incorrect.
I have no trouble moving on. But you haven't been clear on what your doubts are. What you think I have gotten so wrong. If we're disagreeing on something, then I'd like to at least know what that is.
Crystal Grotto was always supposed to be a C-Ticket type experience. Don't know why people expected more ... I have had the plans of the attraction for a few years (I might have shared them with @Lee) and I don't see anything better or worse there without watching a ride-thru, which I will not do.
Maybe the fact it goes under the castle got people's expectations up. I dunno. It's a very nice, but basic little boat ride with fountains, music and projections.
LOL, I just think it's funny how much you contradicted yourself between those two posts. To be fair, it was a while ago, you were the one who revealed the list in the first place, and you made clear that you didn't know many details yet. But I just had to point that out...The Voyage to the Crystal Grotto is the ballyhooed boat ride that loads under the castle. I expect that to be one of the top rides in the park.
I saw that tweet as well - I'm certain that it was sarcasm, based on the fact that he said they'd be handed out at the entrance of Hollywood Land.Andy Castro on Twitter is posting that the Guardians of the Galaxy overlay for Tower of Terror will be achieved with Virtual Reality headsets. Did anyone hear anything about this? Is it true or is Andy Castro just trolling like he usually does.
How cute that you just show up enough to bash someone for calling it like it is and being honest. I haven't seen you add anything of substance to the conversation so maybe you should just come back when you can do that and us "pathetic lot" will continue to discuss.Agree. More people should occupy themselves with posting negative **** about Disney on the Internet. The world would be a better place. What a pathetic lot this place attracts.

NGE could still be eating money if all the implementations that were planned for launch haven't launched and are still in process of being installed. See the new MyMagic thingies that show your name in queue areas.Oh! So now SDL has been basically revealed, looks fabulous, and suddenly the reason for the cuts has changed? Coincidence? Before, you insisted that it was Shanghai. Now it is NGE. Why the change? Once again, something must be up. Maybe Chappie realizes that his SDL story aint gonna work anymore. Or maybe this is you digging out of that hole.
And why NGE? LOL. The bulk of that spending happened a year or two or more ago. I don't have their checkbook with me, but I can't see any MyMagic+ stuff suddenly causing a big dent in the budget now.
Either way, lets look at this with our own minds. Why don't we all stop blaming the cuts on other events, and put the blame where it really lies, in Chappie's hands. Chappie is the one making these cuts. He doesn't have to be, but he is. And it really doesn't matter why.

I actually wonder if @WDW1974 has an RCI number or other big travel agent code number....Remember about this time last year that folks here were screaming at each other that there's no way NG+ has crossed the 2 billion dollar mark?
Ahh, the good old days!
How do you get Cabana Bay for $50?! Granted, I'm OK with the price I'm paying for my November trip (staggeringly cheaper than the Disney leg of my trip; I've since added two more days to the Uni end because of it! At the end of the day, it's about $110 a night) but $50 sounds great. Do you have any recommendations for accommodations there? Do you have a preferred building or floor? (It'll be my first trip to Universal. I'm upping from 4 days to 6 because it's basically a $150-200 difference and why not?)
And don't forget that everything being developed for DL in the sixties was put on hold for several years, thanks to that little obscure project in Flushing Meadow. Some kind of fair, I believe. That's because the Imagineers went through quite a few concepts before getting to the ride that we got. Some examples being a walkthrough attraction and even something on Main Street in early plans for the park. It has nothing to do with taking their sweet time.
