I can't remember what thread it was, but I think it was this one. Someone asked why WDWs characters can't be in Halloween costumes all season like DLs. This is why, so they can make an ad like this and use it as a ploy to sell more tickets.

I wonder who they are gonna get to try to helm the live action 'Make Mine Music'....

(joking aside - I believe those 'package films' are essential viewing for park/Disney film fans - lots of Mary Blair in them...).

Yes that is something that many forget those films do have lots of Mary Blair's work incorporated in them and as such are a must for fans of classic imagineering art

And that's the great lie here.

What is being "lost" is a bunch of unused nothingness that most people will never even miss. You are being told some mass of historic nothingness was somehow sacred property. If Walt had lived, that area wouldn't have survived the 1960's. Most of the actual area wasn't even guest accessible. Great care is also being taken to visually divide the area.

It's like arguing about an outhouse in the back of a property being sacred because George Washington once took a dump there. The main house is fine, the property still dedicated to him - but there comes a certain point where one has to be reasonable, particularly when the person in question was so forward thinking to begin with.

Obviously you have not dealt with New England 'Historical Commissions' that outhouse that Geo Washington took a dump in would indeed be sacred and you would be REQUIRED to maintain it using period tools and materials and you would be subject to huge fines if you did not maintain it to the standard set by the historical commission.

Is anybody watching Westworld? In last night's episode, I found the aging owner's spiel about what makes a great experience very applicable to today's Disney.

I thought the exact same thing. For those who didn't see it, a young, upstarter "story master" character (Mr. Sizemore) has just given his pitch for a new guest storyline (i.e. a new "ride") in Westworld. After finishing his pitch, the park's creator (Anthony Hopkins) simply replies "No." When pressed why he didn't like it, Hopkins replies:

"A couple of cheap thrills. Some surprises. It's not enough. It's not about giving the guests what you think they want. It's not that simple. Titillation, horror, elation: They're parlor tricks. The guests don't return for the obvious things we do, the garish things. They come back because of the subtleties, the details. They come back because they discover something they imagine no one had ever noticed before. Something they've fallen in love with. They're not looking for a story that tells them who they are. They already know who they are. They're here because they want a glimpse of who they could be. The only thing your story tells me, Mr. Sizemore, is who you are."

Are there old Imagineers involved in this show's writing? Honest question.

If the new show experience on the backside of the River's good, I can accept the sacrifice. Moreso if the rumors that the railroad is getting a Nature's Wonderland homage are legit.
hopefully will be working all the time and not pull a Yeti and be dry with visible equipment out :p
