They finally seem to have a plan at long last.

Well, 12% of a plan.
Seriously, what is the plan? Meet and Greets plus Iron Man in Hong Kong is really all they have confirmed unless you count Guardians of the Tower in CA. What ever happened to the other Marvel plans for DCA? Haven't heard much about it lately. Seems like if they wanted to they could build a whole Marvel land and clone a version of it in every park but WDW.

Anyone notice that Disney is following Universal's lead at this point? Nothing is sacred anymore, that's the mantra that Universal popularized and now Disney is adopting. They're trying to have such a short turnaround for attractions like Universal that nobody cries when the attraction is inevitably changed over because it wasn't there for 60 years. Seems like that's the route they're taking to me, although admittedly a land based on Avatar seems to be a misstep off of said route.

We shall see. Disney's hand is still being played. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised but I'm keeping my expectations in check.
You're not the only one who's noticed. I even made the comparison a couple of months back. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...for-star-wars-pyro.916108/page-3#post-7336015

I feel like they could do a beat by beat redo of the original including all the original dialogue/songs as is, but just doing CGI and a "realistic" look instead of the 2D cartoon look.

Of course, why would they go to such trouble if they don't change anything? But if they were to do it that way, it would eliminate potential backlash of "destroying" a classic by making it too different from the original.
And that is why this whole thing is one of the worst ideas Disney has ever had. I'm not a fan of this remake business strategy too begin with, but TLK is a massive step too far.

That's pretty much the motto for the entire company at this point excluding acquisitions like Marvel and Lucasfilm. Would they dare remake The Lion King if they thought anything of their customers?

I reserve judgment.
I had similar thoughts about the Broadway musical until I saw the costumes.
Besides, it's Shakespeare- it's meant to be reimagined and repeated forever.

The stage is a completely different medium where reinterpretation is more fair game. Movie vs movie just isn't in my opinion. Especially in this case where the original is impossible to live up to.

The 'Theme parks are stupid entertainment for stupid people' mindset is the cause of ALL the issues seen at Disney P&R these days, And it was once the case at UNI, But no longer and the product at UNI shows it, Is UNI perfect absolutely not. At Disney with the sole exception of AK and Joe Rohde last of the REAL Imagineers it's obvious that they think people are stupid and simply phone it it, Heck Disney is not even bothering to do forced perspective correctly (Beasts Castle NFL).

Compare that to the view of Hogwarts from Hogsmeade if you want an example

I actually don't think there is a problem with revisiting previous movies -- Hollywood has been doing that forever really and popular concept constantly get recycled. Not that every story needs to be retold, but it's okay for a fresh take on an older story.

Personally, I have a bigger problem that these live action remakes are virtually the only live action films Disney is pursuing. They should be a smaller number overall (i.e. be selective with what gets made) and part of a variety of different films for the studio.
