A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

Right. And just spent money refurbing the Hulk. That's really the greatest evidence that the rumor is not correct.
True but do we know if they are still actively developing an avengers ride? That rumor has been around for quite some time. Also I am sure with the money involved with this deal they could afford to redo hulk again (green lantern for example). Just a thought.

As much as I enjoy comics, I'm oddly relieved Disney cant use Marvel in the parks.

Half of one park is Avatar, half of another is Star Wars, let's just keep the rest Disney.
Same here but for me it's because I've seen no evidence that Disney will top what's been in IoA since 1999. Let Universal keep it. What would probably happen is that we would lose the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal for Disney to do some cheap crappy Spider-Man overlay a la Guardians of the Tower on whatever classic you like.

No one should want Disney to get the rights. The overall quality from placement to theming of Avatar and Star Wars are exceptions, not the rule at modern WDW.

I don't buy the rumor either, but putting on my Imagineer (errr, Universal Creative?) hat, I could see retheming the existing MSHI to DC without all that much difficulty.... Hulk coaster gets themed to Green Lantern, Spider-Man gets rethemed to Batman, Storm changes to The Flash, Dr. Doom's Freefall could be almost anything given how lightly themed it is but let's keep the same concept and use Braniac or Lex Luthor.

While it certainly wouldn't be free, you could easily modify those rides while keeping the exact mechanics.
The issue really is not with Universal but Disney. Marvel Entertainment is completely separate from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Buying out the contract only impacts Walt Disney World so it would be Walt Disney World paying Universal Orlando Resort for the buy out. Even if Universal was oddly generous and only asking for the cost of retheming the land, that is still a few hundred million dollars of additional cost added onto the already high cost of new attractions.

If you think Rogue One will be 'toddlerized', as you say, you've obviously never seen Star Wars Rebels.
Does Star Wars Rebels even count? Iger doesn't seem to care about TV. He only cares about tentpoles.
Infact, I wouldn't be surprised of why the TV shows were that good. No meddling from executives.

So someone came to me with this and I can't name the source but I assure you it isn't Jim Hill or a bus driver.

The source says that Universal might actually be getting ready to sell the marvel rights to Disney and then in return but the DC rights from six flags when that contract is up.

Has anyone else heard anything like this? I know Universal and Disney have been said by sources to be in talks or have been in talks.
Woah hang on, selling Marvel (the hottest super hero franchise right now) for DC (which cant seem to hit a barn from inside movie wise other than Batman) ?
doesn't sound logical.

So it's a horror film then?
hopefully he gets killed finally.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the Jar Jar rumor was just a joke put out on a Star Wars fan message board. Someone photoshopped Jar Jar into a picture. Funny, but in no way an actual rumor. Just some people having fun.

I agree, look at the plans for the Cali Adventure Marvel section. Tron coaster clone, Star Tours clone and TOT overlay. Talk about half asssed.

Anyone notice that Disney is following Universal's lead at this point? Nothing is sacred anymore, that's the mantra that Universal popularized and now Disney is adopting. They're trying to have such a short turnaround for attractions like Universal that nobody cries when the attraction is inevitably changed over because it wasn't there for 60 years. Seems like that's the route they're taking to me, although admittedly a land based on Avatar seems to be a misstep off of said route.

We shall see. Disney's hand is still being played. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised but I'm keeping my expectations in check.

Well considering those aren't the plans, your assessment is off. I don't know where this Tron clone rumor originated, but a Tron clone is not what the Cap coaster/dark ride is. Plus Iron Man can't be cloned until 2021.

This is the key to me, the contract has an area that states they must maintain and upkeep existing IP to keep it, I wonder if they are getting close to the deadline and are deciding between some Avengers ride, and or the 3rd park. I would think they really can't afford to do both, not in the short term. So maybe they are open to discussions now to sell marvel, make a boat load off of Disney, then use that to build the 3rd park.

What deadline? Universal holds the rights in perpetuity.
