A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

The South China Morning post has a not too flattering report from Shanghai Disneyland as it celebrates 100 days of operation. As a certain SPIRIT had noted back in June, problems would begin to creep up once the western press had packed up and left.

EDIT: An earlier report that details the park's difficulties in keeping its E Tickets, like Roaring Rapids and Pirates, open.

It's been a while since we discussed about Shanghai Disney. It suddenly vanished when it finally opened months ago.

unruly guest behavior,
I think we seen plenty of that. (aka people destroying the planters and peeing/crapping everywhere)

They aren't confusing this with Disneyland are they?
I wonder.. there are hardly any bench in MK.
DHS has a few limited rows (no, the sunset boulevard row doesn't count as they are for the quick serve restaurants).
AK has very few too.
I think Epcot is the only one that has more benches in the general way...

Why must there "better be a dramatic price drop" ?
If you don't think it's a good deal, don't buy the thing.
Again, if they're up front with the blackout dates, then no one's trying to trick anyone and it's not underhanded.
No one's forcing you to buy anything here.
Because the price now gets you everything. If the price is the same when they start blocking everyone out of anything new for months that's just dirty.

I think you have to put yourself into the other person's shoes. It's easy for me to say "who cares about this since I'm not a local and I don't have an AP". If I did I would be pretty upset if they suddenly put these blackouts in. It's not as easy as saying if you don't like it don't buy it. There are many AP holders who want to keep their AP and get to go to the parks when new stuff opens like they always have. They have every right to be upset if this actually happens (and remember this is just a survey not a guarantee they will actually do it).

Exactly. Some people don't get it.

It's kind of like false advertising out of nowhere if they suddenly do put blackouts in.

Because Disney cannot be upfront about it. Just this past summer Disney missed their announced opening of Rivers of Light. What happens in such a case? Does the blackout window just keep rolling back indefinitely until the show finally opens?

It's only false advertising if they fail to notify the buyer about the extent of the blackouts at the time of purchase.
We're not there yet, so it's too early to say.

No one has any right to be upset about the blackout dates if they are announced before the annual passes which will encompass these dates go on sale.
Do you disagree with this?

As long as they announce a year in advance the blackout dates so that the buyers are aware of them, I don't see the problem. I think it's even fair if they say there will be a blackout at DHS for (say) 60 days after Star Wars opens without giving a specific date -- they just need to disclose it in advance of selling the passes that would be affected.

That said, I would think they'd still continue to sell a top tier pass with no blackouts, no? Seems to me that as long as that is on the table then Disney isn't really blocking out Passholders, they are just only allowing a limited number of them and encouraging people to buy the higher tiered passes.

"We haven't done big new things in years and now that we are we're blocking you out unless you give us more money. Sorry/not sorry. Have a magical day."

Like I've said before, if the goal is less crowds for tourists around the official opening why not have extended AP exclusive previews rather than giving them the shaft? Oh right, Disney cares more about the one and dones who spend big money on one trip than their loyal repeat customers. Almost forgot.
