A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

Here's to hoping you're right about discounts coming, because the pathetic 15% off moderates that dropped today is laughable. The only thing that caused me to do is call my travel agent, discuss options, dump the unbelievably expensive dining plan, cancel -no joke- 11 dining reservations and upgrade my Cabana Bay package. My next move, if Disney doesn't like the idea of releasing better room discounts, is to move my entire hotel stay (10 nights) to Universal property.

The dining plan savings alone is $900. Cancelling reservations that sells booze and isn't a part of dining plan options will easily save me another $200-500. We, uh, like to drink when neither has to drive.

Running the numbers, I'd save more staying at C-Bay and using Uber for Disney transportation than staying onsite at Disney and using their free transportation.

And theme park wise, I'm sure I could make do with only one day at Epcot, Animal Kingdom and MK. I've already decided not to waste my time with DHS or Disney Springs (never a real fan of shopping centers), surely I can make a trip of three days there and spend the rest at Universal parks. There's always Wet n Wild (though I don't know how wet nor wild I'll want to be in early November), Sea World, and local attractions. A few days of hotel loafing sounds amazing as well.

I'm more and more excited about the second half of my trip than I am about the first. No real planning, no dinner reservations (almost everyone has told me there's plenty of good eats with walk up availability) and no stupid ride reservations.

I hope this message reaches the ears of those who are in charge. Im your target audience. Female, solid job, single, early 30s, no children, disposable income. More or less a WDW noob. I haven't even hit on the lack of new rides compared to those up the street because frankly, there's new rides up the street and I'll spend my money and time there. Is...is this what you want? o_O
DHS has. ToT, RnR, ST in their ride lineup along with TOy story shooter ride. I'd have that lineup go against EPCOT's Soarin, frozen and TT"

What makes you think you're WDW's target audience?

You're right, I'm probably not.

But I'm sure they know at some point they cant rely solely on meet n greets to generate income, like alcohol sales at a bunch of booths nearly year round at Epcot. I've read many "how to drink around the world at Epcot" guides. Not cheap. :greedy::greedy::greedy::greedy: Every dollar out of my pocket is a dollar in theirs.

The real target is $$$$$.

I've read from several people on OU that Universal has been sending out surveys for a system for FPs like MM+. Hopefully it doesn't go through.
Yeah, there is at least one survey going around asking about the smartphone app that includes a variety of planning features. Nothing overly specific, just a few vague concepts that imply single ride reservations or the entire day being planned out like a Touring Plan.

Not sure how things like this work, but doesn't Disney have patents on the MM+ technology?
Patents protect a specific process, not a general idea.

Disposable income, and relative youth implies a potential long-term customer.

Oddly enough, in the early days of WDW, younger couples were often the target audience in a lot of the pamphlets, books, and other information and ads concerning it.

I agree they should be courting guests like you, but I don't think they do.

My guess is they look at large extended family groups as an easier target - at the very least, families with children.

So Suicide Squad blew away GotG for best August opening. I doubt I'll see it. But it again drives home the point that tent poles, no matter their merits, are what the studios will go with until one has a run of 3-4 huge abject failures. Then, the paradigm will shift again. Not now.

Suicide Squad having a big opening and besting GotG isn't surprising at all. The question is, will it have legs like GotG as that's the key.

Funny that I've heard everywhere that the real star in that movie is Harley.
And Jared Leto is NOT HAPPY by being cut by a lot on the final theatrical release.

Despite the strong reviews, I'm still not feeling very confident about how Pete's Dragon is going to do at the box office this weekend. Are we about to have another BFG?
Probably better than BFG, but not by large margin. I've seen a lot of ads for Pete's Dragon watching the Olympics and in theaters, in comparison I only saw 2, maybe 3 for BFG. I knew I wasn't going to go see BFG, I may or may not go see Pete's Dragon.

Register on WDWMAGIC. This sidebar will go away, and you'll see fewer ads.
