So is Disney considering an artist swap-out with Rock n Rollercoaster or is Mickey dressed up like Slash in that new merchandising because they can't think of any good rock iconography to plaster onto the mouse and they figured they might as well associate the legend of Vunter Slaush with him?

Honestly I think I've seen Mickey dressed as Slash before. It may have been a plushie? But I'm certain it was in Rockin Rollercoaster's Gift Shop.

With all the insane threads popping up, I almost hesitated to drop back by ... but with quarterly earnings out tomorrow (my how will those numbers be tortured @ParentsOf4? ... I felt like musing a bit.

Here goes:

I don't think it is cool when people make up tales about talented people losing jobs. I just don't. Not going to comment on many specifics here. I do find it rather amusing that an individual who has been named as someone axed was the same person heading up the GMR to Great MICKEY Ride trackless conversion. No, I don't know whether it is true or not. If so, it does give pause whether this will happen or happen in the timeline that people here seem to believe.

This WDI bloodletting wasn't any different than in past years, really. Why not ask about all the people around in the mid-80s who suddenly were out of work when EPCOT Center, TDL and DL's New Fantasyland were all completed between 1982-84. Or how about the 2001-02 period when so many were cut after TDS and DCA/Anaheim Resort expansion/WDSP were finished? This happens. It is cyclical. Some of the walking dead get reanimated as either contractors or even as full-fledged Imagineers again. You do know Bob Weis was canned before and he now heads WDI, right?

As to chatter about Joe Rohde and Tom Fitzgerald and other celeb Imagineers, one would be wise to get those type of facts straight before writing their obits (that's you, Tom Amity).

The one casualty in all of this who isn't well-known, but should be, is Tom Morris who is wrapping things up having taken a buyout. The man worked on projects from EPCOT Center (including Journey Into Imagination) to DL to being lead on DLP's amazing Fantasyland and, later, on HKDL under absurd budget constraints and an ever shrinking roster of attractions to finally making Cars Land work, despite John Lasseter's constant advice/interference.

Then, we have this absurd parade tale that never will end. First, DL awkwardly put PtN on hiatus. WDW fanbois and CMs decided this must mean that WDW forced DL to give up one of the highest rated entertainment offerings in Anaheim over the last decade! People again reported this with no facts because that's what social media is all about. You make it up as you go and you never face any accountability at all. Meanwhile, HKDL quietly did the same thing. You know that has to mean the parades are headed to the MK and SDL, right? Because the two parks that have them, that paid for them, that love their results are just going to pass them up for some old foamed suits, right? ... And now it would seem that MSEP is quietly going to cut down performances before it ... glows away forever ... until TDO needs it again? Here's a thought: these parades have chewed up costumes and have been running nonstop for many months. They need a break. Here's another: Disney is looking to cut expenses wherever it can and having all of this nightly entertainment mothballed will make Chappie looks good to the Weatherman.

No, Orlando didn't have a nice summer. It's all over now, no matter what the calendar says. Every week the crowds will dry up even more and soon it won't even look crowded at the MK. Fall and winter will be very interesting and I see lots of discounts coming.

BUT ... there will also be more ways to segregate the audience with loads of uncharge events all over. I hear there is some crazy Star Wars deal that has been written about here. I won't even bother looking at it.

So Suicide Squad blew away GotG for best August opening. I doubt I'll see it. But it again drives home the point that tent poles, no matter their merits, are what the studios will go with until one has a run of 3-4 huge abject failures. Then, the paradigm will shift again. Not now.

Blaze Pizza (known in my family as the place that has workers who skim credit cards ... along with making tasty pies) opened at TSFKaDD and every Lifestyler and his boyfriend were eating for free. I like Blaze for what it is ... but since they are near me and about to be in as many strip centres as Chipotle, I won't pay a 25% uncharge to dine at WDW's.

SDL is still struggling daily to keep its attractions up and running. Major issues with Roaring Rapids. Less so with others. Still, felt bad for a friend who was there last week for but a day and had no Pirates and no Rapids. ... But looks like Dakota had fun!

For anyone who thinks Pandora looks 'close' ... Disney is still sticking with its internal 'fall 2017' opening.

Lifestylers eating at the Flying Fish ... that is rich, even though most of them are most definitely not.

What's coming to WDW (and DLR) soon? Private lounges ... places to drink and feel special.

Maybe I'll drop some thoughts after earnings ... or just stay away until the fall ... we shall see.

Thanks for the much-needed dose of common sense. In the last few weeks, I've finally added people to my "ignore" list (something I previously prided myself on not doing, regardless of the ignorance involved). The good news is, school starts soon! :)

We'll see how everything pans out as Disney slowly accepts that maybe the old way of running the P&R division was the best way.

Weird that Touring Plans increased their predictions for early non holiday December. Any predictions/thoughts on the crowds then? I would think with the Summer slow down, pre Christmas would be empty.

Here's to hoping you're right about discounts coming, because the pathetic 15% off moderates that dropped today is laughable. The only thing that caused me to do is call my travel agent, discuss options, dump the unbelievably expensive dining plan, cancel -no joke- 11 dining reservations and upgrade my Cabana Bay package. My next move, if Disney doesn't like the idea of releasing better room discounts, is to move my entire hotel stay (10 nights) to Universal property.

The dining plan savings alone is $900. Cancelling reservations that sells booze and isn't a part of dining plan options will easily save me another $200-500. We, uh, like to drink when neither has to drive.

Running the numbers, I'd save more staying at C-Bay and using Uber for Disney transportation than staying onsite at Disney and using their free transportation.

And theme park wise, I'm sure I could make do with only one day at Epcot, Animal Kingdom and MK. I've already decided not to waste my time with DHS or Disney Springs (never a real fan of shopping centers), surely I can make a trip of three days there and spend the rest at Universal parks. There's always Wet n Wild (though I don't know how wet nor wild I'll want to be in early November), Sea World, and local attractions. A few days of hotel loafing sounds amazing as well.

I'm more and more excited about the second half of my trip than I am about the first. No real planning, no dinner reservations (almost everyone has told me there's plenty of good eats with walk up availability) and no stupid ride reservations.

I hope this message reaches the ears of those who are in charge. Im your target audience. Female, solid job, single, early 30s, no children, disposable income. More or less a WDW noob. I haven't even hit on the lack of new rides compared to those up the street because frankly, there's new rides up the street and I'll spend my money and time there. Is...is this what you want? o_O

I've read from several people on OU that Universal has been sending out surveys for a system for FPs like MM+. Hopefully it doesn't go through.

Not sure how things like this work, but doesn't Disney have patents on the MM+ technology?
All I saw was that there was a question on booking rides. Not sure if it's exactly like Disney.

I would be fine if they made a simple system that combined your ticket with your room key and express pass if you have those. Even if they had a band. They should not go for the same model as Disney.

What makes you think you're WDW's target audience?

I don't think Universal should or will use the same FP model, Universal's express pass works great for the attractions it's used for. I could see them maybe going the route of the RFID cards that could be tapped? Maybe it's just me but the TouchPoint entrances to the parks always seem to go faster then the turnstiles. More of a KTTW card?
