This does actually remind me a point WDW1974 used to make about Disney fans suddenly becoming fans of Marvel and whatever else Disney happened to buy. I never got that, either, and with this ride I can see that the sets are very impressive and technologically a big upgrade from Buzz... but I just like the Buzz Lightyear theme a lot more. The music, the characters, and the colour of Buzz is more along the lines of what attracts me to Disney. This ride looks fine, but the Ant Man theme just leaves me cold.

Hubby loooooves comic books - the Marvel movies gave me a means to enjoy some of my husband's fandoms. I tried reading comics, but they're just not my cuppa tea.

My 5 year old loves buzz but loves antman even more. So... personal anecdotes are irrelevant and not representative of popularity.

If he loves Thomas the Tank Engine, he'll love Ant Man. Our youngest LOOOOVES Ant Man because of the Thomas scene and actually asks to watch it quite regularly.

Philarmagic is a MK classic and a must see everytime. I'm surprised it's taken them 16 years to also open it in Disneyland.

That was always one of the more bizarre concepts he brought up and he said it repetitively. I mean, sure maybe there are a handful of people, even a few dozen, who would unequivocally start "liking" something solely because Disney bought the IP. But considering how incredible mainstream and popular Marvel is among literally millions of people, it was pointless to even care about.

If there were some piece of crap product that Disney put out that Disney fans would hype just because it is owned by the company, then there might be a point to calling them out on being zombie brand advocates who aren't objective, but this is Marvel which as found massive appeal among industry critics, hardcore genre fans and the general audience.
