Holy cow!!! The guys behind Game of Thrones have apparently been given the keys to a new “series” of Star Wars movies that are unrelated to the Rian Johnson trilogy.

I am so happy right now!!!! Loved the full Solo trailer btw. The Super Bowl spot was ok but the full teaser is fantastic!

How could you possibly be happy about David Benioff and D.B. Weiss at the helm?

Without George R R Martins source material- Game of Thrones has been a sloppy mess of a show. Completely unrealistic, fanboy scenarios and writing- just garbage. Entertaining? Sure. But completely inferior compared to the early seasons.

Even more than oversaturation - which is inevitable- I see this sucking. Hard. These guys aren’t good writers and creators. They are good screenwriters.

I agree that it was better in the earlier seasons, but there are few things I look forward to more than the next GoT episode. I don't think it is a sloppy mess of a show at all...but I would agree that there are problems related to things like traveling times across the continent etc., but I don't let that kind of stuffbother me. To each their own. I can't wait!

There were a dozen jumping the shark moments last season. The time travel being one of them. How about Jamie and bron swimming across a lake in full armor, sword and gold hand with an army and dragon right there and somehow not drown or be seen. Could they not shed the armor, hand and swords to save their life? Nah- we’ll just show up on the other side of the GIANT lake coughing up some water. Makes sense.

The fact I could name a dozen things stupid as that just proves It’s ridiculous.

wow - don't see the issue...
that sounds perfect for current sw trajectory!

bravo, kk

I wonder if Benioff/Weiss might adapt one of the book series that's already out there. They obviously do a great job bringing books to the screen and as the Han Solo trailer has made clear, Disney is definitely bringing even more of the EU back into canon.

But because it kicked butt early and the first two seasons were some of the best TV in history, we give it a pass. It’s entertaining - but GoT post-Martin is sloppy. No other word for it.

And that’s at the feet of these two.
I’ll be a little more generous and add Season 3 to that (Red Wedding, Jon & Ygritte, Jaime’s season long arc with Brienne, Arya & the Hound, Tywin, other stuff that I can’t think of at the moment since the Red Wedding keeps coming up at the front of my brain), but Season 4 is where things started coming apart for me (mostly because it took all development away from Jaime), and then by the end of 5, you could tell that D&D didn’t have a plan for what to do when they passed the books (or rewrote the books- I am so sorry Sansa).

The original and sequel will always have a place in my heart (never saw the third). Is the market even there for HSM anymore?

The original HSM movies were like your grandma's secret-recipe waffles, and this new one is like a gluten-free waffle. They're trying to basically replicate the originals, but without most of the ingredients that made the originals so perfect, this will naturally range from disappointment to blasphemy for fans. Perhaps new viewers will catch on, but then there's really no value in using the HSM name. Start something fresh and new. It just sounds like it'll be a terrible movie too.

I'm glad none of the original actors are associating themselves.

I think that's a slight stretch, but I think it could definitely be in the top 5 for Marvel's domestic releases (probably finishing in the top 3). I'm curious to see how this performs internationally, but mostly, I'm really, really, really excited for this.

Its highly anticipated here in Korea with over 2000 fans waiting outside last night at the premiere. It also helps that it was shot in Korea (Busan) but I know it will do extremely well at least in one international country.
