A Spirited 15 Rounds ...

I often wonder if that isn't on purpose. So many modern Disney movies seem to have fragments in them that resemble a blueprint for a ride. I don't know if the movie makers are fishing for a ride, or if this is ordained from higher up. Or if it is just the result of the creative team existing in a Disney creative universe, where this imagery is never far away from the consciousness.

I suspect the last is probably the driver as when you are immersed in that environment it's only natural to create something you would love to ride, Think the game Roller Coaster Tycoon writ large, Or why SoAT always had a hours long queue.

At best I'll call your entire post misinformed.

Iron giant was not Pixar

As I said not an expert on movies I simply don't have time to watch them, Iron Giant was Pete Docter's creation and he's one of PIXAR's leading creatives so who actually gets credit for Iron Giant?

for me Docter == PIXAR therefore IG a PIXAR product.

Iron giant was not Pete Docter's creation.

It was a Warner Brothers film directed by Brad Bird.

Your last line is absurd.

That's awesome. And I get it. I've worked in a 10-person woodcarving shop where everything is done by hand, and also a high-speed sign shop...it's kind of the same difference - one is much slower, but with much more creative and artistic support, and the other is lean and mean and fast with with much less attention to tiny details. (Imagine carving a scene for a house sign that has 3 skiers on a forested trail...I got to paint the knit patterns in their hats - their hats were 1/2" tall. ;) )

From: http://collider.com/avatar-sequels-underwater-filming-explained-james-cameron/#motion-capture

One of the very first things we learned about The Avatar Sequels, before we even knew there would be four of them, was that we’d be going underwater on Pandora. Writer/director James Cameron has been teasing for years that the follow-up films will offer brand new visuals as he aims to set some of the story under water on the fictional planet. But capturing this footage proves difficult given that the Avatar films are mostly made using motion-capture technology, wherein actors wear suits with dots all over them that track their movements and expressions and are then processed in a computer to result in the digital performance. Doing this underwater is, well, tricky, and it at least partially explains why it’s taken so long for The Avatar Sequels to happen (... continued on website)

I am aware that this is not a very populair opinion, but I've always been a huge fan of Avatar (the movie) and I can't wait to experience Pandora in AK when I will visit WDW again in 2021. The technical stuff and difficulties with under water animation reminded me of the artistic achievement Disney did with Pinocchio and I'm happy Cameron (finally, I must admit) has found a way to deal with it.

John Lasseter to take leave of absence from TWDC.

Statement to Pixar from Lasseter
I have always wanted our animation studios to be places where creators can explore their vision with the support and collaboration of other gifted animators and storytellers. This kind of creative culture takes constant vigilance to maintain. It’s built on trust and respect, and it becomes fragile if any members of the team don’t feel valued. As a leader, it’s my responsibility to ensure that doesn’t happen; and I now believe I have been falling short in this regard.
I’ve recently had a number of difficult conversations that have been very painful for me. It’s never easy to face your missteps, but it’s the only way to learn from them. As a result, I’ve been giving a lot of thought to the leader I am today compared to the mentor, advocate and champion I want to be. It’s been brought to my attention that I have made some of you feel disrespected or uncomfortable. That was never my intent. Collectively, you mean the world to me, and I deeply apologize if I have let you down. I especially want to apologize to anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of an unwanted hug or any other gesture they felt crossed the line in any way, shape, or form. No matter how benign my intent, everyone has the right to set their own boundaries and have them respected.

In my conversations with Disney, we are united in our commitment to always treat any concerns you have with the seriousness they deserve, and to address them in an appropriate manner. We also share a desire to reinforce the vibrant, respectful culture that has been the foundation of our studios’ success since the beginning. And we agree the first step in that direction is for me to take some time away to reflect on how to move forward from here. As hard as it is for me to step away from a job I am so passionate about and a team I hold in the highest regard, not just as artists but as people, I know it’s the best thing for all of us right now. My hope is that a six-month sabbatical will give me the opportunity to start taking better care of myself, to recharge and be inspired, and ultimately return with the insight and perspective I need to be the leader you deserve.

I’m immensely proud of this team, and I know you will continue to wow the world in my absence. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and look forward to working together again in the new year.

John

Even if you’re not a gamer you should know this just based on the conversations that have been had about what’s rumored if you care so much about the project to declare its better than anything Disney is doing.

I have less than zero interest in video gaming the only gaming character i readily recognize is Mario, the only time i deal with video gaming is when setting up network policies to ensure low latency connections to gaming networks

Don’t be a ****.

John has an alcohol problem and apparently he was too touchy feely. This is about him, what he’s done and he needs to get help.

JL's issues with alcohol were alluded to by Spirit on multiple occasions, As were his huge differences in opinion WRT creatives at Disney. Iger has wanted him out since forever, Don't worry Rohde will be next. Spirit never noted JL as a pig just an drunk.

But what the heck he'll be replaced by some Stanford Business School grad who knows all about making profitable movies...

I'm honestly kind of impressed how quickly you were able to make this about Iger.
