The parts not up for sale: Fox Sports, Fox News, and Fox's broadcasting network and affiliates.

If this goes through, then Disney gets to make Test Track into a Dude, Where's My Car ride!

Disney also gets X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four (for movies, at least if not for Orlando attractions).

It also means they get The Simpsons and Family Guy and I am terrified about the latter being shoved into the parks.

The problem was the 1998 Godzilla movie pretty much ****ed off every one of those fans and even those who had some expectation of what Godzilla was. Like imagine the butthurt reaction to the Star Wars Prequels multiplied by that of the 2000 version of Journey into Imagination and Batman and Robin.

Toho immediately went into damage control and started their movies again and half of the movies in that Millennium Anthology series took jabs at the 1998 movie ranging from Godzilla 2000 having Godzilla fighting some ID4-esque UFO and an alien trying to become a "Godzilla clone" to GMK's opening briefing room mentioning a monster attack in 1998 that Americans thought was Godzilla but Japanese experts debunked those theories to finally, Godzilla curbstomping the overgrown iguana in Final Wars, where that version of the character was officially rebranded as "Zilla" because it didn't deserve the "God" part of its name.


And while Toho's producing Godzilla movies again in-between Legendary's series, it's more of a synergistic relationship as with a big budget Godzilla done correctly representing a traditional version of the character in the global film market, Toho is free to do whatever the heck they want with the character domestically between Shin Godzilla's grotesque walking tumor and the upcoming Netflix anime trilogy's Grootzilla approach

One of my favorite things growing up was Creature Double Feature with my dad...our two favorites were Godzilla and Gamera. I was so excited when I first saw clips of the "new" Godzilla...then it just fell so flat. It was a freaking iguana on steroids. I lost interest in Godzilla after that because while the New Coke version looked cool...it just wasn't Godzilla. And with special effects being what they were, I couldn't go back to a dude in a rubber suit.

Guys in suits are no different then using animatronics and puppets. And those techniques definitely got more sophisticated in the kaiju movies of the 90s and 2000s.

And even back in the day, Toho's special effects department was considered one of the best in the world. Like before deciding to create his own effects house with ILM, George originally wanted to hire Toho or Tsuburaya Productions to do the effects in Star Wars.

The power of the RT and Metacritic say otherwise. Movies have tanked due to critical response. One may have small power but the fact more keep joinng this movement against the mouse doesn't bode well.

No, that's exactly what I was talking about. That's why I said "individual" reviews. Particularly from traditional publications like WaPo, LA Times, etc., and especially the ones that are behind paywalls.

Because of aggregate sites, WaPo or LA Times doesn't have any more influence than some random movie review website you have never heard of who often doesn't get invited to these screenings any way, and the ones that do are going to be playing the world's smallest violins for the major publications that turn their noses up at them.

They simply don't have the relevance or power they once had, which is why this is just going to hasten their decent. What is funny is that they aren't even refusing to review them - they just aren't going to until the day of release. Big. Deal.

Yep. They're pitching a fit because they're not getting VIP treatment anymore. That's what this all boils down to.
