A Series of Unfortunate Events...that led to a great trip!

We are back! We got back home late (LATE!) Sunday night and crashed into bed. The next day it was "rise and shine" and back to work and real life.

We had a whole bunch of random and weird stuff happen on the trip, but both came home saying it was a great time. I'll work through day-by-day with lots of pictures (I think we had more than 2k total pics).

Day 1:Travel Part 1

Sorry folks, no pics of day 1...

Our first day started off rough. The plan was to be totally packed so we could leave immediately after DH got home from work and drive to Alexandria, VA. We were staying with a friend of mine from law school for the night and wanted to catch dinner. She graciously offered to let us spend Fri night at her apartment and then she drove us to the airport so I could leave my car at her place and not have to foot the parking bill at the airport.

...that was the plan.

What really happened we woke up around 630a on Friday to the sound of the cat trying to scratch a hole in her litter box (not literally, but it sure sounded that way!). DH gets up to check on her and she has made a HUGE mess (to preface she is 16 years old and her health is declining -- she likely has a tumor in her bladder that is causing her to pee blood). He notes that she has missed the litter box by quite a bit (she sometimes misses right outside, but this was about 4 feet away). So he calls his parents to see if they can take her to the vet that day (they are retired and we both work full-time, plus we kind of stole her back in August while they were on vacation ). After about 30 phone calls to their house, cell, etc they finally answered and were able to get her in for a 3p appointment.
So we clean up the bathroom mess and head off to work. I worked in the office until noon and then picked up our friend who was house/cat sitting for us and brought him to our house. I rush around to finish packing (since DH procrastinated) and clean up around the house so we aren't leaving a mess for our friend to stay in and do some final work stuff at home.
DH got home around 5p and we finished packing, cleaning, etc. He was able to meet his parents at the vet and bring the kitters back home with him. She was not in a good mood... The vet said she either has another bladder infection (had one a few months ago) or a tumor. Either way, she needs antibiotics orally for two weeks. Eek! Our poor cat-sitter...haha. This cat is quite the biter when she's unhappy.
Finally around 545 we get on the road. Unfortunatly we hit some major traffic down by the DC area and didn't get into Alexandria until around 9p. We hurried up and headed off to dinner with our friend. The food was delish! I forget the name of the place and was trying not to be a creeper so I didn't take any pics. By the time we got back to her apt we crashed!

Day 2, Part 1: Getting to the Magic Kingdom!

We woke up super early and our friend drove us to the airport for our flight out! The flight was super easy, but seemed to take FOREVER! Landed around 10a and only had to wait a short while before boarding DME to our resort.
At check in the CM tried to convince us we should upgrade to a deluxe dining plan the next time we come...probably not gonna happen. The regular was more than enough food for us!
Swung by our room to drop off our stuff and off we went!

By the time we got to Magic Kingdom is was around 1230p and we were starving. We high-tailed it to Columbia Harbour House for lunch.
DH had this (Salmon):

Day 2, Part 2: That kid's gonna puke...
After lunch we thought we'd head over to Adventureland and check out the Jungle Cruise. Unfortunately the line was quite long so we grabbed fast passes and rode Pirates Instead. It had a 10 min wait posted, but turned out to be basically a slow walk through the queue. When we were all the way up (next in line), DH grabs my shoulder and says "That kid's gonna puke." Now, to preface...I don't deal well with puke. Its more the sound of someone puking that bothers me, but all things related seem to make me think of the sound and its just downhill from there. The CM notices the kid (with his dad off to the side of the platform) and ushers him to a trash can...too late, puke all over the platform. Not a big deal, after a hop, skip and jump we were on our boat and by the time we were at the "dead men tell no tales" part of the ride, my stomach had settled itself back down. Seriously though...what a great first ride, haha. I hope the kid felt better soon!
After Pirates (before I even realized it) we were in the Enchanted Tiki Room -- DH pulled me in, not sure why. I think he was in explorer mode because its not really up his alley, but he was like, "hey, let's do this." So we did...
Pictures do not turn out well in there.

Finally it was FP time for Jungle Cruise. Our guide was HILARIOUS!

Day 2, Part 3: Fantasyland!
After Jungle Cruise, I really wanted to head up and see the new Fantasyland. My BF said all she wanted was to see photos of the new stuff and I didn't want to forget!

Day 2, Part 4: Tomorrowland! and FP+
DH wanted to check out space mountain and Tomorrowland so we walked over that way.
We spotted these two on the way...just hanging out.
IMG_5909_zpse5ec3ee4.jpg

Swung by Stitch's Great Escape first. It was right in front of us and had a 10 min wait. Plus, we were hot... (had long pants on from traveling).
I actually kind of liked Stitch. We were quite annoyed though as a family was right beside use during one of the intro parts and the mom and one kid ran off and then another ran off screaming after the mother. The father then proceeded yell at the kid, then to the mother and then to loudly talk through the entire intro section (in Spanish too, so it's not like I even knew what he was saying to understand if there was a valid reason for it). DH and I were quite annoyed by the time the intro ended so we ran to the other side of the seated part so we wouldn't be near the guy. DH said he could still hear the guy yakking during the entire thing, but luckily I couldn't. I have a lot of patience for kids, but not so much for adults.
After Stitch we check Space Mountain, but the line was too long so we rode the People Mover. I know this gets a little bit of a bad rep, but we really enjoyed it. Boy does it whip you around those corners! It was cool to take another little "tour" of the park and check things out. Up next was Carousel of Progress (b/c after 18 years, you kind of have to do it...).
Then it was time for our Peter Pan FP+. DH said he felt a little weird just walking right on when there was quite a long line and it looks like a kiddie ride for the outside. But we were both happy we rode it! We loved this! It was so neat and we can't wait to ride on our next trip (will def get FP though...the line is nuts!).
It wasn't quite time for our third FP+ -- Mickey's Philharmagic, and It's a Small World was posted as 15 min wait so we decided to do that. Unfortunately the posted time was wrong. We stood in line for more than 15 mins -- it looked like there was a boat back-up or something, not really sure, but the loading and unloading was moving very slowly. Once we were on the ride was great! However, the boats again got backed up and actually bumped into each other during the last scene. We were at a dead stand-still for about 5 minutes. By the time we got out we had to decide if we wanted to do Mickey's Philharmagic or risk missing our reservation. The foodies that we are, we chose dinner.

Day 2, Part 5: Dinner and "dessert"
Off to Tony's we went!
IMG_5924_zps950dd61f.jpg

I had the Cioppino and DH had steak. They were both delish!
IMG_5931_zpsfba47b4f.jpg

I swung over and grabbed this while we were waiting for dessert.
IMG_5934_zps839e367b.jpg

For dessert I had Spumoni, which I did not enjoy. I have a Spumoni bias from having a really good version while we were in college. This just didn't measure up.
DH had Tiramisu which was really good -- I ate half of his.
After dinner we walked through the parade crowds (or rather...behind the crowds). DH really wanted to ride Space Mountain and we thought the line would be short with everyone watching the parade. It was alright, still about 20 mins, but we waited. We then rode Buzz as a walk-on and were going to wait for our final FP+, but decided we were tired and headed back to our resort.
I managed to snag this on the way out.

Quite a nice end to our first day at Disney!

Awwwwwwww poor kitty!! She looks like my old cat Tigger!

I get a lot of ppl saying they want to steal her and then I tell them how she bites and scratches and how we have to clean the litter box AT LEAST 3 times a day...

She's a peach though and I love her.
