A review, great things...bad things..fun things :)

Im not "new" here I just havent been around in a while, I couldnt find my old name and password and the email I had used I no longer use...yaddda yadda. lol

I just got back from Disney, I was there Dec 1st-7th......first, I made the mistake of booking while they were taping the Christmas parade.....shooot me please, Magic Kingdom was a mad house filled with Jonas brother tweens...it was a nighmare.
We stayed at the All Star Music LOVED IT!! They changed the beds and they were absolutely more comfortable then when we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge....loved it loved it. We had free Disney Dining and now I am spoiled, they should call it free Disney gluttony plan....more food then we could eat, but who cares, its free. lol It was nice not reaching for the wallet everytime someone wanted a little snack.

I would like to say that if anyone here was one of the Cheerleaders (they were in the Disney xmas morning parade and it was a convention of sorts, so there were ALOT of them) that were staying at ASM, you should be ashamed of how you acted, waking people up cheering outside of their rooms at 7:30 am is not mature at all, screaming through the food court "lets go (insert whoever) here we go!!!!" with your moracas....and thats just the parents! When Disney staff has to step in, you should NOT be asked back.....something else I will be asking when booking..."any cheerleaders? NO....good" I advise you all to do the same.

We got to do the Kim Possible thing in Epcot, what fun!! I have a 9 year old that couldnt wait to do it, and I have to say I was thinking to myself "Oh great, this thing is going to dictate evertything we do"...not at all the case, it went in tune to YOUR schedule and was so much fun, we loved it!! I saw many many adults with NO kids doing it and they were having just as much fun, it kind of reminded me of a kid version of the amazing race. We found ourselves wishing it went on longer, I loved all the interactive missions and the other guests would be saying "Oh wow! How is THAT happening??" and meanwhile YOUR making it happen, it was fabulous. GREAT job Disney!

We went on Expedition Everest for the first time....oh ....my ....lordy, that ride was more intense than we expected! LOL! LOOOOOVED IT!

I have also come to realize after many many maaaany years of going to Disney that there is no longer a "down time" poo on that. lol

If anyone is intersted I can post some pics.

It's called POP Warner and they are there every year during the second week of December like clockwork. They are always booked into All Star Music and Sports along with Port Orleans Riverside with French Quarter as the overflow. It is always chaos at the resorts when they are there. We were supposed to stay at FQ (our dates were Dec 1-9) but we switched to the Poly to avoid the Pop Warner chaos.

Asking when you book if there are any cheerleaders is pointless. Central Reservations can't tell you that information as groups like Pop Warner book through a different department and Central Reservations isn't aware of that information. The best thing to do is simply avoid those "known" resorts during that period. If you want to go during the second week of December and want to stay value than book Pop Century. If you want to stay Moderate than book Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach or simply avoid it completely and stay Deluxe. That's what we plan on doing from now on when we travel during this period.

Thanks for the report  I also can't stand the cheerleaders, I don't think they know how much they bother people, but when CM's have to step in and say something, they should get the hint, and shut their mouths:zipit:

I was there around the same time and the only attraction I needed a fastpass for was Space Mountain. There were long lines in "stroller alley", but that is normal whatever time of year you go. All wait times were right on par with the past few times I was there the week after thanksgiving. The longest I waited for EE was 15 minutes max and that was a surprise. All other attractions had very low waits as well. It may have just been the days and times I was there though.

THANK YOU!! I will be marking that down on my calendar for now on, we usually go to Disney around the same time but we usually stay at the Poly, Animal Kingdom Lodge or Pop Century so I wasn't aware of all of the chaos they case at their resorts.

I have just got back myself and will be posting my own report on WDW when I get the chance.

I have also read a few threads on these disruptive cheerleaders (or whatever they are) and the fact they do this and get away with it at the cost of other people's enjoyment of WDW.

We have moved our regular visits to WDW to this time to catch all the Christmas stuff in WDW and have always wanted to stay at Port Orleans Riverside because thats where we had our honeymoon and are eager to go back there.

BUT we will now be forced to rethink our future plans if POR is being destroyed by this mindless destructive behaviour.

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
You know? You've raised a thought...

This board has an OFFICIAL WDW calendar - but we could REALLY USE an "Annoyance Calendar" - one marking the likely attendance of Tour Groups, Pop Warner, Golf Tournaments, Cheerleaders, etc... It won't be dead on in terms of timing - but it WOULD be a lot bettr than all of us keeping individual BlackListed dates....

I like it, I REALLY like it :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

Unfortunately while Brazilian tour groups once used to be a summer annoyance they are starting to show up in December as well. They can be just as bad as the cheerleaders in their chaos and destruction. They completely trashed a bathroom at AK the day we were there and we ran into a few groups at EPCOT where the chaperones were actually encouraging their rowdy chanting and cheering.

They were everywhere in MK in July and while we always avoided them luckily enough!!! Hol was great!! But i agree the main prob is that the "chaperones are the ones that start and encorage everything!!!!:fork::fork::fork:

All Stars is one of my favorite resorts to stay in, especially for what you get for the price. But I agree about the cheerleaders. I've only experienced them once and I learned my lesson never to book at All Star this time of year anymore.

Oh yes, please post pictures. :sohappy:

Sorry to hear about the cheerleaders. That is such a disappointing circumstance to have to deal with on a Disney vacation. :fork:

Hey All-

We were just at the world from Dec 2-11 and stayed at the FQ. There were no Cheerleaders at all. So I don't think there was any over flow from riverside. Now there were times when we were on the busses we shared with riverside they were on there. I did notice they traveled in packs but I didn't see any of them being disruptive. A lot of them traveleld with their parents from what I could tell, so nothing more then other familes traveling together. My opinion of course. I will say this IT WAS BUSY the enitre time we were there. I think maybe one or two days when were at the AK and Epcot. But other then that it was Busy! No walk on's at MK or Studios.

I was expecting for the parks to be a lot less busy. I do know next time I come to the World in Dec I am going to come the 14th time frame. This way all the big groups are gone and the parade is done. That was a pure mess to get through. They had to cancel the 4th taping because of the all day rain so on the 6th when the taping was suppose to be done it was still going on. Being that said I love the christmas feel of going that time of the year. I think I just have tweek my dates by a week or so on either side.

FQ was awesome best resort yet! I think we are going to try to go again next decemeber and stay there again. Now I know why so many people love that resort. Building 4 was the best. Close to Jackson Square and the busses. Not far from the pool or the boat dock to downtown. I could go on but I really enjoyed staying there. It was nice and quiet not noisy as I find a lot of the value resorts.

The cheerleadres are just like guys in the gyn screaming when they lift weights or people who have to blast their music or rev their engines on sports cars and motorcycles. They THINK everyone thinks how cool they are and never realize they are annoying EVERYONE around them. In their minds we are all reveling in their coolness.

i've noticed the complaints seem to be in december when the pop warner cheerleaders are there, but not at the end of april when the allstar cheerleaders are there. maybe that's the difference between school related activities and those that are part of a paid gym that works and competes at a much higher level of gymnastics and stunting all year round.
