Now to get back on topic...I was in MK yesterday and they have the signage up at the old Crows Nest shop just covered so I would be looking for soft opening pretty soon!

This past Friday, my family and I was at Magic Kingdom. We were asked by a cast member if we wanted to beta test the Pirates Adventure game. Here's what we learned (sorry if I repeated anything already said here):
  • All adventures reside in Adventureland.
  • There are 5 different maps with different experiences. For the beta test, only the Guardian's Curse.
  • We went to four places on the map before finding the treasure.
  • The adventure took us about 5-10 minutes total to play. Seems rather short.
Here's a video I took of the whole adventure:

Is WDW just really THAT desperate to keep people out of lines?

Touch card here. Touch card here. Touch card here. Finally use your Fastpass+.

Another Band-aid solution that does not solve the biggest problem, lack of rides at the parks.

Agree. Your not doing anything but activating props. They even tell you where to go, lol

1. There's no lack of rides at MK, which is where this and SotMK are located.

2. World Showcase is the most adult of WDW areas, which is why Agent P is valuable for kids. The appeal of World Showcase is that you can take your time, eat, browse, and take it all in. Crazy e-tickets would crush this vibe.

3. DAK lacks rides. You got me there.

4. If you don't like it, don't play. A lot of people LOVE these interactive experiences, giving folks like you a shorter line for the rides you enjoy.

So, I and my kids have never played any of the previous versions of this at WDW, only Magiquest at WOLF LODGE.

Curious though... are the AAs only in Adventureland? and how much does it cost to play?

That is my big issue with the 06 refurb. I understand that people wanted to see Jack in the ride and I think the actual figures are splendid and well placed, My issue is them changing the ride to revolve around him. The fact that the revised dialouge makes absolutely no contextual or logical sense, Mentions Jack by name numeorous times undermines a running-gag in the actual film,Only Jack refers to himself as "Captain Jack Sparrow" yet in the ride all the pirates mention his full title every time and of course the fact that the movie was "supposedly" based on the original ride thus by significantly altering the ride you are altering the movies source material (Even though the films particularly the first actually have less to do with the original ride than Disney's publicists would like you to believe.)

Exactly. Also, the revised script assumes that the riders are goldfish and cannot remember that Jack Sparrow is lurking about and thus you have two pirates within 20 feet of each other yelling about Captain Jack Sparrow.

Get rid of the idea that the Pirates are looking for Jack and just make it a "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" style dash to the treasure with pirates trying to beat each other there and have Barbossa's dialog rewritten where he's shouting and cursing that he's not going to have Jack or anyone else beat him to the treasure.

All these interactive games are free with admission, unless if you get obsessed enough with Sorcerers and it's trading cards that you buy the home game booster packs and the "Add +5 to your Spellcasting Stats" T-Shirts.

Maybe it's just me but: Magic Kingdom has enough rides. The other parks need them desperately. So I'm not opposed to Disney creating a game that furthers the presence of Adventureland's iconic franchise. It actually looks pretty darn cool.

Just make sure I get my Avatar ride already.

But the Magic Kingdom is chock-full of rides right now.

Wonder why this hasn't started picking up at the Studios, where there are only 2 family rides and live shows are dropping like flies?

That's a good question.
Possibly because the design of MGM does not lend itself to explore/scavenger activities as well as Adventureland and the World Showcase.
Most of MGM is wide-open spaces, with relatively few secluded corners in which to install hidden activities and features.

None of the parks at WDW have enough rides, Magic Kingdom included. If Disney's so worried that closing even one attraction will have a significant impact on hourly capacity counts (as explained on Miceage's update yesterday) than the parks need more rides.

What MK needs is another E-Ticket (to compensate for when one closes) and 2-3 smaller scale attractions. Brining back the keelboats, canoes, and Diamond Horseshoe would help too, and all of those have existing infrastructure and operating manuals in place. I'd mention the Swan Boats too, but I don't think they'd go over well with guests.

New Fantasyland is drawing more guests than it serves.

So, more rides are STILL needed.

You do remember that they still have not added a single new ride for New Fantasyland, right?

Swan Boats could if they made them like Storybook Land.
