A photo tour of the new Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort

I really liked the BLT despite not wanting to (my first childhood stays were at Contemporary North and seeing it bulldozed wasn't pleasant)... the views are spectacular ... morso on the quiet Bay Lake side in actuality, but we know most folks are gonna want MK views.

Rooms themselves are the highest end DVC units I've seen, but still don't compare quality wise with what I've experienced at Hyatt timeshare in Key West and Hilton timeshare in Las Vegas. Close though.

Worlds better than say OKW or even BW (and those villas are really showing their age at those resorts).

I'd love to stay here (yeah, I said it), but I'll never buy into DVC or any other timeshare program ... but if I can get me a 50-60% CM discount this fall, I'll be there ... no doubt.

Oh, and one complaint ... no two ... first they already have a huge issue with birds nesting and leaving droppings all over the balconies and I don't know how they're gonna solve that one ... some areas looked like paint buckets had been dropped ... and Top of the World is waaaaay too small. And making it exclusively a DVC club is gonna cause issues when someon pays say $600 a night for a unit only to be told 'you can't go there' ... I'll bet that policy gets tinkered with.

We were told that only 20 percent of the rooms have MK views. I prefer that view, since my kids are young and usually asleep by 10 p.m. (even in Disney World), so I'll be able to see Wishes from the room. My husband prefers the lake view. Our next trip will be split between the two views. :)

The units are more expensive, but you should see the points chart for Disneyland's Grand Californian! If there are ever DVC units at the Grand Floridian, I would expect the cost to be higher than at BLT.

Great pics everyone! Thanks! As a non DVC member, I'd probably want to stay at the GF before I'd try BLT but maybe one day I'll get to check it out.
I am in love with the artwork I have seen so far! I hope one day you can purchase some of them. I'm going to keep an eye out for some in August at the Art of Disney.

Possibly my favorite thing in the hotel, these windows behind the bar featuring the classic Disneyland Mark I Monorail concept art by John Hench. More pictures of this later.

This is a little nook that has lighted panels of Tomorrowland concept art.

Awesome....NICE photo!

i LOVE holding on the Monos. A lot of Guests may find it 'boring' but i love it. People need to stop being so time-minded and take a moment to look out of their window and ENJOY THE SCENERY. Stop looking at your stupid cell phone ( hello...you are ON VACATION!) and take a look around!

Veiw the WORLD people....you PAID to be here!

I agree 100% but it sure would be nice if you COULD look out the windows! They now have all of that celebration crap on them and it really interferes with the view from the monorail. Ridiculous!

Saw BLT, loved it, and can't wait to stay there in December! Too bad the TotW lounge is so small; by Disney standards, it's tiny. :(

Still, it'll be nice to stay in a Contemporary Resort room that actually looks contemporary! And count me among those who prefer the Bay Lake view. MK views are great at the GF and Poly, but this one seems to be mostly a parking lot.

I agree. The Bay Lake views are incredible. However I think you only see the parking lots if you look down from the balconies not while sitting on the balcony in the MK rooms.

I'm wondering if the Bay Lake views and SSL views are cheaper because they just may be the best. They need to build another tower where the last "garden rooms" are to take advantage of the lake views. Something about central Florida lakes and views to the horizon.

There are three categories of rooms: standard view, lake view, and MK view. The points needed for the MK view are higher. For instance, for the month of July 2010, the weekly rate (seven-night stay) in a studio is 183 points for MK view, 153 points for lake view, and 137 points for standard view. The points are obviously higher for one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and grand villas, plus the points vary based on time of year. I don't know what the rack rate is for non-DVC members.

This is in the center of the lounge. I can tell you right now, kids are going to be all over this thing.

Very sophisticated! :D Too bad dirty footprints will ruin the centerpiece. Hope Mousekeeping is on par!

Now I REALLY would like to check it out in a fortnight! :D

And I love the concept art presented over there.
