A new Soarin'

I think I have come up with a fantastic Idea for a new Soarin' Film....It would take some time and effort, and twiking but I don't think this has been done anywhere and it would be so unique and the guest would love it....

I propose that Disney goes to every state in the US and films highlights from the Major/More Popular Cities. For example, I grew up in Arkansas and they could film clips from Little Rock and/or Eureka Springs, Mtn. View, Hot Springs, Fayetteville (some of our more popular cities)

I live in Missouri now and they could film St. Louis, Kansas City, Jefferson City, Osage Beach, Branson etc.

As the guest are entering Soarin, a cast member puts the zip codes of the ppl that are going to be in each particurally "ride room" into a computer system. The system would take the zip codes and find the nearest city that they have filmed at to the guest zip and that clip would be incorporated into the film.

Every single show would be different. We would Soar over the cities where our fellow Disney Soarin' Family Members live. Everyone would be so excited to Soar over places they live or are very familiar with. Then the very last place we would Soar we be over Disney and end at the Castle, like it does now.

I think it would so increatible b/c we are looking all over the US, getting little peaks into eachothers lives and then we all end up at Disney, something that unites us all....:sohappy:

I think this could totally be done and would be an amazing addition. Because each show would be completely different people would never get tired of it....

So now, what do all of you think? :lookaroun

That's actually not a bad idea.... although the system may be a tad complicated I like the concept.

Two major issue that would have to be addressed are:
1) Ride Time
2) Getting all the video footage from these cities

I would love to also fly over cities that I haven't been to but would love to one day visit... or maybe even international cities... it would be pretty amazing to fly over Rome, Paris, or London.

I think that the current Soarin video is probably here to stay for a while. I'm sure there are plans to update it in the future and your idea is one of the best I've heard so far.

That's a nice idea, the only problem right now is that it's an IMAX Film. They would have to Imagineer a video projection system to replace what they have now. And also take footage from all over the world (since WDW) has alot of international visitors.
But, that's a great concept. Maybe, in a couple of decades, it could happen.

Wow that is a really great idea, but like said before it may be a tad bit to complicated for the technology we have now. Hopefully in the next few years we will get an attraction like that. I sure would ride something like that, but theres not too much to see here in the smack middle of Texas (unless you like hills, trees, and deer. yup not too much after that)

I like the idea but I'm not sure I would want to see sights from my home town. An international version would be pretty great but as I'm from the UK the current film is international to me.

Rome would make a fantastic clip for soarin'!

I couldn't agree more! But... I still like the concept....

Why not a video that "travels" the world to each Disney Theme park? Start at disney world, fly over the atlantic cities to DL Paris and Studios, fly over some Europe and Asian landmarks into Hong Kong DL, than over into Japan to Disney Seas and Tokyo Disney, back over the pacific maybe above the DCL ships and over DL and California Adventure, back over a landmark or two of the US and back into Epcot...

I know it would be cool to see some of the other Disney parks in that format and even incorporate some of the countries featured in Epcot....

I've had confirmation (sorry can't reveal the source, but it's trustworthy) that a "Soarin' Around the World" replacement film *is* in development by the same production company that filmed the original Soarin' film. I believe they're the ones currently working on the new CircleVision film for Canada. No info on when actual filming might start, though.

I came to WDW to get away from home, why would I want to come back. :)

I would like to see different places, so maybe by using your general idea, the cast member would say, "where would you like to Soar today", then you could have an option that way.

You guys must really dislike where your from. I love Disney as much as the next person, but I would think it would be so cool to get a quick glimpse of everyone elses towns, places that I might want to visit. Plus I think it would be amazing to know that Disney was in MY town, looking at MY local attractions....

I do, however, really like the idea of asking "where do you want to Soar today" That could be very very cool....and again, it would make every flight new and fresh....

Its a good idea. After about my 3rd time riding soarin' I started to wish there was a bit more to it... its a great ride and all... but all of my repeat rides have something in common, either it is a classic ( i grew up riding it), or it has a great variety, or it is a thrill ride. Soarin is not a thrill ride, and it is no where near being a classic yet. Similar to you I had the idea that it should have maybe 5-6 different scenes and you never know which you get.... sorta like great movie ride between the 2 skits. However your idea is very clever.... with actually giving your zip codes... only problem is there are far too many people on the ride at once to go to all the desired areas. But I still think it would be cool if the ride randomnly selected them.... so that way if you didnt get picked you would be inclined to ride it again. The whole giving them a zipcode thing reminds me of E.T. at universal when you give them your name.,,, anyways I think it is a really good idea... but i don't know how realistic it is... I think it would be cool enough for them to have 5-6 different scenes and show them randomly... but i dunno if thatll ever happen either... we might be stuck with this one for quite some time.

One of the biggest problems I see with this is timing the music to so many different scenes.
And I'd much prefer a Soarin' Over the World to a Soarin' Over the US. This way it would be more in keeping with the Global Neighborhood/World Showcase theming.

I think this is a really neat idea. I think the logical progression around the globe would be a very cool factor. Maybe there could be a big rotating globe somewhere in the theater with X's on the Disney parks and a moving line charting your "progress."

I have to agree with many people that I would rather see something else rather than my home town. Not that I wouldn't mind flying over the Boston skyline or through the Zakim Bridge, I would just rather see something different. And with the possibility of up to 90 different hometowns, that would create a really long show. I like the idea but think it would be just as cool if they just had several hundred 10-20 second clips of locations from all around the world and a computer could randomly merge about 2-3 minutes worth of those clips into a show. It would still provide a very different and random show, but it wouldn't be as hard to film, build, and program the video and ride. Not that I don't like your idea, it just would be hard to make (ecspecially with international visitors).

I like the idea of filming many different scenes and the idea that every ride would be unique, but there aren't too many exciting scenes in IL, so I would still prefer to see places I haven't yet visited and places that are more beautiful than IL!

I like the idea, but not too much. I agree with most of the posters in this topic. Most of us go to WDW for a reason -- a vacation. Although it's a nice concept, it's still a little broad for an attraction, in my opinion.

What I think should be done to Soarin' is add some transitions. Don't touch the music, the music is great.
