A morbid (but serious) funeral question

OK, you may think I'm a little crazy, but it's something I've been pondering...

Is is possible, after one leaves the world for that giant theme park in the sky (i.e. heaven), to have your ashes scattered anywhere in Walt Disneyworld, Florida?

Personally, it's my favourite place on earth, and it's something I'd certain like to have done. I swear, I am not a fruitbat :D

Also, continuing the rather morbid theme, I want my all-time favourite Disney song "When You Wish Upon A Star" played during my funeral.

Does anyone else on here make similar plans, or am I losing it?

For the record, I'm 27!!

Right I'm off to listen to Grim Grinning Ghosts... :fork:

I don't think you are crazy, I'm only 25. That is what I would like done too, but I don't think Disney would allow it. Your relatives might have to smuggle your ashes in. Make sure they put you somewhere where Disney cleaners wouldn't sweep you up!

16 days until disney! :sohappy:

It's been tried in Disneyland. A woman scattered the ashes of her son in the Haunted Mansion a few months ago. The ride was evacuated as officials took the ashes from the ride and disposed of them.

Well, Fantasmic is my favourite Disney event (see signature).

How do you fancy my chances of being poured into the moat?

OK, now I'm being silly :)

Any more thoughts on funeral songs? Surely I can't be the only wanting a Disney song in there?

Awwww, I am sorry if I have dampened spirits today. I didn't meant too :(

Apologies to all for bringing up such a depressing topic.

Oh no, sorry I have to tell you this as I just thought of it, and think it's hilarious (in a rather ironic way).

How about "Everybody's Got A Laughing Place" for a funeral song?

 Oy!

Well...

Weirder choices for songs have been used at funerals, I'll wager! :D

#....time to be turning around...
#....if only you could
#...if you've finally found your laughing place, how come you aren't laughing?

Ooo just imagine the reaction that one would get?

OK, maybe I won't use that one after all

Please note I'm laughing in a Bart Simpson manner now

Right I think I'd better retire to my bed!!

I'm sure it's been done, and I'm sure WDW does not sanction it.

I wouldn't try to do it in a park.

You might try to dump them around a plant at a resort.

BUT

Have you seen cremains?

Do you have any idea how much ash there really is?

A 150 LB person reduces to about 5 lb of ashes. That's a bag of flour--quite a bit to scatter secretly.

My suggestion is to have a Plan B, then ask your survivors to take a tiny bit with them to WDW.

Also--if this is what you really want, make sure they know.

And, if I might be so bold--sign your organ donor card and make sure your family knows of your wishes to be a donor .

I am the mother of a donor............

I was just talking about this topic at lunch with some oft co workers! I am a funeral director in New Jersey and one of the co workers said that if any one was to do it I should start a Disney funeral service at WDW like they have weddings you could have your funeral service at the happiest place on Earth!!

Twelve year old thread, well, unfortunately death is timeless as a concept. It doesn't seem to go away until one passes that point.

Back when my whole world seemed to be falling apart from about 1998 to 2002 I clung really tightly to anything that made me feel better. Disney did that and with the exception of my kids that was it. At the time I had, what now seems like a silly talk with my Daughters about it. They, of course, were totally non-receptive until I told them that I would establish a fund for them to all go there and each one carry a small part of my ashes so that at appropriate times they could discretely sprinkle a few here and there. All of a sudden they sounded interested. I have since gone past that bit of emotional gibberish and have decided on a much more normal send off.

I don't care what music they play, but, my favorite Disney Song was "Best time of my Life" which would seem almost cruel to have played at a funeral. So now that I'm much closer to the possibility of walking to the light then the original poster I have become a little less obsessed and decided to be conventional.

My understanding, which could be wrong, is that cremated humans are considered a bio hazard. This creates an obvious issue for Disney to have to clean up. The other thing I thought of is that the next time they renovate the area the cremains are scattered at, who knows where the dirt and the cremains are sent. I like the option of sprinkling a little over the side of the ferry as an option if one were insistent on having themselves spread at WDW.

Actually kind of appropriate considering the topic.

I was talking about actual services at WDW! Like the wedding pavilion at the Grand Floridian having a funeral pavilion or chapel! Not scattering cremated remains or ashes and they are not considered bio hazard per say but should be treated with care and of course respect!

And as for being a 12 year old thread given the conversation at work today at lunch I found this thread today!
