I enjoyed the Frozen activities over the summer. But this is just ridiculous.

If I were to take a guess at what the real issue is, it's not that Elsa is conducting the castle lighting, it's not that They put in a Frozen play land over in DHS/DHA, it's not that there seems to be an abundance of merchandise throughout the parks. The issue is that the powers that be have been wishy washy on committing to a Frozen theme taking over the Disney parks. Instead of declaring "2014: the year of Frozen", they've winged it bit by bit to see what would work. This makes it seem as though Disney marketing was caught with their pants down on the popularity of Frozen, which I doubt, given the abundance of merchandise. It was all management.

I would agree with that. Honestly, if they did make it a Frozen theme for 2014 (or 2015) I would appreciate that. But the upper hands would likely not allow that because of the who debate of boy vs girl influences in the park.

I think having Elsa turn the castle into ice is a great way to incorporate Frozen into the MK during the holiday season. The concept art looks beautiful. However, Frozen taking over Maelstrom? Don't get me started! :banghead::mad:

Odd because a year ago most people seemed to be saying that it seemed a natural move that Frozen might take over the Castle lighting and now people are outraged? People are freaking out because a 7-8 minute show is being rethemed. Yes I will miss Fairy Godmother, Cinderella, and the gang but yet change is a good thing.

Also people freaking out about all of the Frozen stuff in the parks....that consists of currently a merchandise/play area, a sing along show, a seasonal castle lighting ceremony, a non-disruptive meet and greet, and an appearance in FoF. Oh and a short segment in Celebrate the Magic. Between four theme parks, that really isn't much. Little Mermaid has a ride, a meet and greet, has a whole unit in FoF, is featured in Wishes, has a stage show at DHS, is in Fantasmic, and appears at two different character meals. That's just one film for comparison.

Allow me to clarify: Of course I would never tell people to stop doing what they want to do hence farewell and enjoy it etc. because I know they will, they want to be there. And that's absolutely fine. I'm shaking my head not at them but at Disney for manipulating everyone inside for making them think everything Frozen is the greatest thing in the world. But it's a business, I understand. I guess I just wish it was something else IDK. Bleh I'm whatever lol

I don't even know why I'm responding to this... but here goes! How the heck (would like to use another word here but this is a family forum) is Disney manipulating everyone? Please explain! For the first time in forever (see what I did there?) Disney is giving the people what they want. It might not be you people but let me tell you the people are out there and they out number the sad little group we have here.
Usually we gripe and complain, Disney never has anything in the parks to represent the current film, they leave money on the table by not having special events and merchandise to go with the fad du jour, etc. Disney is using a current franchise (don't know if it's actually considered a franchise yet but I'm sure it will be) in the parks. Now Maelstrom is another topic all together and we can argue that one 'till we're blue in the face. But Frozen Summer Fun at DHS, the M&Gs at MK, and the addition of Elsa to the Castle lighting and appearances in the parade are all well executed and timely additions for what can only be considered a huge success for Disney.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Why on earth would they do this. I was looking forward to Cinderella (a real princess) lighting the castle. I can appreciate Anna, Elsa and Olaf but who cares about them lighting the castle.

Actually if we're being picky... the Fairy Godmother does the lighting not Cinderella... that's if we're being picky.

I still dont understand why people cant grasp that Frozen is not only a huge movie with timeless themes, but right now its the biggest property in the theme park world. Yes, bigger than Potter.

The people want Frozen, Disney is giving it to them.

As far as Disney Traditionalists go....the only thing constant in this world is change. Adapt and overcome. I look forward to the changes that are being implemented. My 5 YO daughter LOVES the movie and therefore so do I. I am looking forward to the day I get to see the reaction on her face as she meets Anna and Elsa. It will be priceless and worth every penny. The same goes along with the day she gets to "ride the movie" at ex-Maelstrom. The sing-along...she will be the loudest one in the theater singing every single word. And I am sure she won't be the only one. After all...they're the ones Disney is doing the changes for. Their future product consumers. Make them happy now, and they will keep coming with their children years later. So for the "Disney Traditionalists"...the change is NOT for you. Deal with it and move on.
Thats a very good point Roy. I'll remind all those who were sad to see the change with Off Kilter that change is good, and someone's child for future generations may like Lumberjacks better so 'deal with it and move on'.

I have no problem with Elsa turning the castle to ice, it actually makes a lot of sense to use her in that way. I just wish they wouldn't take Cinderella out of the show completely, simply because it's supposed to be her castle. I have no problem with change and incorporating new characters, but only when it's done well and in areas where it makes sense. As you said, Frozen taking over Maelstrom - no. Elsa freezing over the castle (preferably at the request of Cinderella) - yes.

And just what "people" are you speaking of?

Little Mermaid has existed for over 20 years. Everything you listed was not added within the span of a year, but piecemeal over time. The ride wasn't even DESIGNED until the film neared its 20th anniversary. The reason people feel like Frozen is being overdone is because all of these changes are coming on fast and strong. The film hasn't even been out in the public eye for a year and in that short span of time we've gotten a meet and greet, a parade float, a merchandise area/stage show, a seasonal castle show and an announcement of a classic Epcot attraction being rethemed to the film.

Instead of eliminating Cinderella all together, why not just have her ask Elsa to use her power instead of whatever they do with the fairy Godmother? Mix and match a bit. Keep the tradition and classic aspect with the new hot commodity.

Hm. I don't know if I'd agree that Frozen is bigger than the Harry Potter series which had ... help me here... 7 books, 8 films (?), and an entire theme park area designed after it. What numbers are you comparing? If they're box office numbers, keep in mind those are constantly skewed to show the newest "top grossing movie ever".
