A Florida-based film for Soarin'.....ever happening?

Soarin' is, far and away, one of the best attractions at Epcot. But the attraction is still based on the same film from the California attraction, and there have been rumblings for a while of Disney working on a Florida-based film for it. Is this ever going to happen?

I don't see why Florida would be used for a film - It's far too esoteric for a whole attraction. California was only chosen because it had to fit into the focus of Disney CALIFORNIA Adventure.

I am looking forward to an eventual new film, but I would imagine it would have a much broader scope.

I would prefer 1 of 2 things.

1. They do Soarin' over agricultural fields around the worlds. Like farms of America, rice fields in China etc. It fits the theme of the Land and we still get the great ride system.

2. Soarin' Over The World. Name speaks for itself.

Soarin USA is much more likely than either of those.

Running joke in my family - Soarin' over Florida. Swamp, beach, gator, beach, swamp, swamp, the Villages, gator, swamp, beach, Disney World, traffic jam, beach, race track, gator, Universal...you get the picture. I'd like to see Soarin' over the World (real world like countries not Disney World).

Not florida. From what I have read/heard for some of the insiders, it will be changed to Sorin' Over the World in a few years. But really, who knows?

I was thinking the same thing. Throw in a random orange grove and a golf course and I think you've nailed it. :ROFLOL:

I think it should be Soarin' from NYC. The film stars at JFK and then heads down to DisneyWorld. Because we all know more people go to WDW from the NYC area then any other place.

I asked a Cast member at Soarin' Over California's entrance, and he said that the film would be too long if they did so.

I don't understand that. If they used the same running time as the current film how would it be to long?

I think it was a blow off response to a poorly phrased question.

Probably sounded like this "Hi-Ho Kermit the frog here...why don't they add Florida to the film?"

There could be enough to make a film. A fly up the keys, along South Beach, over the Everglades, follow a rocket launch, over a citrus grove, fly up the Sky Way bridge and then over Tampa Bay during the Gasparilla Priate invasion, down the cigar district (Ybor City), hit a Bucs game, buzz by St Augustine, get in UF, FSU, UCF etc., a golf shot, and of course WDW.

Not sure how exciting it would be or if WDW guests would know half of the sights, but it could work.

Personally, I would rather see over the USA, or over the World.

How about the eastern part of USA. There are alot of interesting areas to see. Niagra falls, The finger lakes of NY, Philidelphia, Chesapeake Bay, the Outer banks, and so on right on down to a shuttle taking off and ending at WDW.

I agree Brad, I do think that there is enough diversity in Florida to make a good film. Along with what you already mentioned, how about

  • Silver Springs
  • Canoeing on the Blackwater River
  • Flying over Battleships at Pensacola
  • Panama City Beach during Spring Break
  • Wakulla Springs
  • Daytona Raceway

Being a Floridian, I can honestly say: why the heck would WDI waste money on a film of Florida.

First off, Florida is flat. Nothing natural to showcase except beaches which are already showcased.

Second off, we're in Florida. Let's not make the same msitake DCA made. Keep it exotic.

I'd love to fly over the Forbidden City, Japanese ritual buildings, Sydney Opera House, Paris at night, Bahamas crystal clear beaches... oh the places it could go!
