A few new WDW observations

Just a few items that may or may not have been posted elsewhere:

*For perhaps the first time since at least 2001, the monorails have NO decorations! No window logos, no nose cone decals, nothing! They look great!

*DHS main entrance has removed "Bear in the Big Blue House" flimstrip bilboard and replaced with Mickey/Little Einsteins/Hanny Manny. The fresh new billboard makes the others (Indy, Beauty and the Beast, etc) look very faded.

Haunted Mansion continues to improve. I noticed that when the stretchroom narration begins ("Welcome foolish mortals") it it also pumped into the entry foyer so people who are still entering can hear it. (Although the newly-condensed stretchroom narration is probably not noticeable to many people, I preferred it right after the big rehab, which was definitely slower-paced than it is now) I was amazed to feel the cold blast of air during the "hot and cold running chills" segment---that hasn't worked in DECADES. I also noticed several more sets of MOVING eyes in the wallpaper area. After the big rehab there seemed to be a few brand new graveyard audio tracks (for example, the opera singer had a new voice). I may be wrong, but it seems like more of the original tracks have been returned (but there are still a few new ones)

It's a really really simple effect.

An air conditioner vent blows directly into the doombuggy right as he says "every room has wall-to-wall creeps, and hot and cold running chills". I clearly remember it as a kid in the early 80's, and then never experienced it again until now.

You probably don't stop to think of it, but that line has become so dated, its original real estate reference is lost on most visitors "wall-to-wall carpet, and hot and cold running water"

The Haunted Mansion is looking and sounding great. Just get rid of the added spiel at the load by Joe Leahy and we'll be good to go.

Just a note - contrary to internet stories (ie. Jim Hill) - the CM's are still using the "dead center of the room" line and one even used a line about "killing time".

I haven't yet experienced that effect. Sounds great!
I never have thought about that line being a real estate reference. Thanks for pointing that out! Funny how many times I have listened to that and it never really hit me. Oh well, now I know!

We rode a dozen or so times the past 2 weeks.... some detailed observations if I may (and because I can!):

New exterior lighting. Blue uplighting around the walls and backlight catching the rooflines. Different. The blue uplights need to be far brighter though. From outside the canopy queue they just look like blue dots not illuminating anything. The roof backlights were catching the trees one night - they are now re-aimed. The wandering candles at the windows are also working well. Lightning flashes seem extra bright.

Paying close attention to the foyer portrait, the new digital projeciton is actually an animation. I assumed it was a series of digital stills to replace the old system, but the clothing actually shrinks. Not new since last September, but worthy of note.

The official stretch room spiel now allows "Dead Centre" but you can`t say "wretched bodies" anymore. Stretch room creaks and booms very effective. Attic strobe lights sometimes not effective enough. Exit noises louder and very effective - bats, whispers, "stay together" and laughter far clearer than last year.

Doom bugguies now have white stripes on each step - to prevent guests trying to load between the vehicles (I know I know, but it has happened)

Entrance arch and candle seems brighter and clearer. Not too much - just enough.

Library books all moving well

Animated stormy sky outside piano room very apparent

As noted, hall of stairs exit eyes very animated (with audio)

Endless corridor loud screams reintroduced

Coffin lid audio louder

Corridor of doors has all overhead screams and moans back - quite noisy with the door audio loops and very effective

Leota was perhaps one or two frames out of sync at most. Better than last year

Ballroom has lightning flashes back through large windows

Attic portraits all clearly changing, and hat boxes added opposite Constance. No one knows why.

Constance badly out of sync with audio. Still an ongoing project

Graveyard looks great. All ceiling and scrim ghoul projections working and bright. All tombstones were dancing. As mentioned, individual audio tracks are all working and very clear. I even heard the deaf ghost say "What`s that? What'd'ya say?" for the first time inride. Sadly a new effect on the opera singers scrim looks wrong (IMHO) - the scrim is splashed with a blue gobo from the side to look like a blue cloud effect. The scrim is clearly lit and just looks like a scrim with a badly aimed light infront of the AAs.

Little Leota has some pixel artifacts if you look closely, though most guests won`t notice. The new doombuggy audio system works well too; instead of the IR link failing and taking a whole section of buggies with it, the new system is more robust. I only heard one quick glitch on all our rides.

The Mansion is still better than ever, and is continuing to be plussed. Thanks to J and C ;)
