Just a few notes from around the park...

The castle Christmas lights are up, noticed them tonight for the first time, must have been with in the last day or two.:xmas:

The pirate with the stack of stolen hats is only wearing one now, dont know where the rest went.

There is a new wall for guests with disabilities to wait behind at the loading platform for Big Thunder Mountain.

For some reason Space Mountain is not utilizing the full indoor que, leaving a long line of guests stretching into Tomorrowland. Does anyone no the reason for this?:veryconfu

Thats all I have for now.

They haven't used the loading area switchbacks for years. And FastPass is to blame. In order for FastPass to work properly, FP holders need to be inserted near the front of the line. At Space Mountain, the merge point is at the front of the hallway section.
If they were to keep the merge point in the same spot, then the FP users would have to wait through the entire switchback section.
If they tried to use the switchbacks for only Standby, they would need to find a way to get the FastPass users around/through the Standby guests. There isn't really a viable way of doing this in its current configuration. I'm hoping that in the rumored refurbishment next year they find a way of using the whole interior space for both Standby and FastPass.

It was my understanding that Space Mountain doesn't meet current Fire Exit codes and when the full queue is used, too many people are in there without enough exits.

That's the first time I've ever heard that one. (If it's the case, I'm wondering how is the hallway any safer in holding all of the Standby Guests... Only two exits: the beginning and the end of the hallway...)

I'd say that FastPass is the more likely reason, though, as there was a direct correlation between the queue not being used and the introduction of FastPass to SM.

Space Mt. had a single rider line years ago, like in 05. I remember using it. And I remember they did have a successful merging point and were still able to use the line inside the building.

Every time I'm in line, CM's always ask for singles. It just seems like it would make to much sense to add a permanent line.

It has to be a mistake, there is no way they would put up the Christmas Lights 3 months in advance when it only takes them a couple days to do the whole castle.

Does anyone have pictures of the current castle?
And kind of off track, but on the note of not enough fire exits...
When I went to DL for the first time, I was suprised that for Indy, they had a huge line outside the temple, but then once they let people in the temple little by little you had to walk a bunch to get to the line formed inside. Inside the temple is so detailed. Why don't they have you sit in there for your wait?

Again, blame FastPass.

The merge point at Indy is at the *entrance* to the temple. The queue wasn't designed to accommodate both Standby and FastPass lines. If they were to create separate lines, it would require a MAJOR rennovation on the interior queue. And even then, in some places they barely have enough side-to-side room for the queue and exit pathways to run past each other.

So unfortunately, you don't get to spend much time in the very impressive queue. Heck, you bypass one entire room of the queue that has the same "Do Not Pull Rope" gag that's outside the Stunt Show in Florida. (The setup was created for the Indy attraction, and then duplicated in Florida)

Ok now unless things have drastically changed in the past 9 months I am confused.

The only time I have not seen the switchbacks used is when the lines are really short. The left side is typically used for standby, and the right for FP & standby. Single rides just enter through FP entrance. Things may change, but this is how it has been everytime I have been there over the past few years.

Why are the lights on the castle already? I can't believe they didn't wait till late Oct to put them up, unles something is going on where they need them lit.
