Trip Report A Bonus last minute March Flower and Garden trip with lots of "Moments" - COMPLETED

Hello and welcome to my trip report I'm so excited to share this report with you all as it was such a special trip - I literally loved every moment of it and there were quite a few "moments" - I'll explain more on that in a minute.

As the title suggests this was a bonus trip for me booked at just 33 days before travelling - for those of you who don't know me I'm Tracey, hello, I travel to Disney every year in November - always November for my birthday. This trip was suggested by Chris (my husband) and we found a really good deal so we decided to go for it! - further details of how this happened can be found in my pre trip report (but to be honest you won't find much else of any use in the pre trip report as there was pretty much not to update on - I just wanted to tell everyone how happy I was when I booked)

I knew we were booked but in reality things didn't sink in until we arrived and that's where the "moments" in the title come in - I would have a quivering lip, tears in my eyes and then the sunglasses would come from the top of my head over my eyes to cover the tears and there it was a "moment" as Chris would describe it - and a fair few of these happened during this trip. Because this didn't really sink in properly until we arrived there is a lack of photo's for the first part of this report but there will be a lot of photo's after this properly starts as despite being in the world in November there are over 1400 pictures from this trip - oops......

We were in Disney from 12th March to 22nd March - 10 days in the World, Direct flights from the UK and Disney's All Star Sports with park tickets for a total of £2600 a bargain and the reason we went.

so onto the details................

Sunday 11th March
The day before our flight - we woke up and finished packing, it was strange to be packing Mickey ears and shorts in a suitcase, it still felt so unreal and really hadn't sunk in. it was like we were just going through the motions but were watching someone else - it's really hard to describe but you might relate to what I mean?

We normally travel mid week so normally leave work and rush around and then head down to the airport, we took our time, had something to eat and then packed the car and were off.

DSC04243.JPG

We were in the car chatting saying that in a few days we'd be on BTMRR but then just kept laughing as if it wasn't real - it honestly felt as if we were going out for the day together or going on an overnight break.
Our journey was pretty quick to Gatwick - we got to the hotel around 4.30pm and lay and rested in our room for an hour.
I watched some of Dancing on Ice - (a TV programme where celebrities learn to Dance on Ice) - Chris finally got fed up of that and went down to the pub next door to the hotel for a beer.
I joined him shortly after for a quick drink and snack and then we both returned to the room for an early night
The bar was far busier than we'd ever seen it but I think that was down to the fact it was Mother's Day.

Monday 12th March
Travel day - for all our Disney trips for the past few years the alarm tune is Shakira "try everything" - the same tune was put on to wake us up this morning and when the alarm did go off we again looked at each other and chuckled almost in disbelief this was actually going to happen.
We got up, showered and then headed for breakfast - in the hotel we stay in you get a free pick up and go breakfast of croissants, bacon rolls, coffee etc.

We packed the car (again) and took the car to the long stay south car park - before we left the cost of staying in the south car park was around £20 cheaper than the north long stay car park and as we were trying to not spend excessively on this holiday we booked the cheap option and decided to take the tram to the North Terminal where the plane was waiting to take us "home"

We arrived to an empty check in - I couldn't check in online (we think due to my brand new passport) so we were grateful for an empty Virgin desk. We headed through security and did a little window shopping and had poached egg on toast for breakfast.

We boarded our plane "pretty woman" and the plane took off with 285 passengers and 16 crew - in November this figures is well over 400 passengers!

I watched a few films on the plane including Coco and really enjoyed it - a great story line and I'm sure that Walt Disney is still living in the after world as I for one often think of him and what he achieved in Disney :)

We were 6th off the plan but our luggage took ages to arrive - the airport was being updated and there seemed to be fewer luggage belts etc and things hanging over the ceiling as make shift air conditioning units.

We headed out towards the Magical Express - we've never got onto this before and there was a fairly long wait - I'm disappointed that at this stage things still hadn't really sunk in so I didn't take any photo's, that said we didn't get a Magical Express anyway - it was a Mears coach :(

We arrived at All Star Sports - (for those who know me well will know I've only ever stayed at Riverside, it's my 2nd home and I've spent over 300 nights there but this was a chance to spend 10 additional days at Disney so Riverside was going to have to wait until November) - check in was quick and I have to say all the staff here were so friendly and welcoming - they really do show Disney in a great light

We opted for the no cleaning option and were given $90 - Ice cream money - yay! - those who have read my previous reports will know my thoughts on ice cream - we're more than capable of making our own beds and on keeping things tidy so this was a no brainer for us.

Our room was the furthest away but was still far nearer to the food court etc than any room we've had at Riverside. It didn't seem that far away at all for us. The room was clean, smaller than we're used to but was fine for what we needed.

We literally dumped the bags without even opening them, walked out of the room and went to reception to order a Lyft - it was now 8.34pm (12.34am UK time) but we had shopping to get. We were off to Walmart

Kenneth came to pick us up and we spoke with him about how long we'd been awake but we were going to keep going as we had supplies to get. We joked with him that he might be coming to pick us up if he were lucky!

We picked up water, breakfast bits and chips and ordered another Lyft to take us back to the All stars - would you credit it - Kenneth picked us up and we were back by 10pm

We quickly unpacked and were in bed around 10.30pm after 21 hours awake.

Coming up next our first full day in Disney - and the start of those moments - and a lot of photos!!!!

Thank you so much for the kind comments.

I bought a Sony RX100 and went for the mark 3 which isn’t the newest version but seemed to be better in low light
It’s a point and shoot with loads of different modes you can use which are quite cool and you can also video but I haven’t tried too much of that out yet

When I bought it there was a deal on and Sony gave me £75 back for buying it.

I haven’t been disappointed in it so it was money well spent.

There are a fair few photos to come as I didn’t manage to update yesterday as I created a photo book of our trip!

Funnily enough I’ve been looking at the same camera! Seems like an awful lot of technology in a small camera, but your photos have helped my decision. Could just do with a Sony bonus now!

Looking forward to reading about the rest of your bonus holiday ...

I’m glad I could help - all the pictures here were just taken and added to this TR - no changes or photo shop etc.

The only exception were the leopard and tiger picture from the other day that I zoomed in via the iPad.

I went with the mark 3 as it gave me what I wanted and the extra cost for newer versions didn’t warrant the centra bits they added.

Fingers crossed for the Sony bonus!

I know this isn’t Disney but just a photo to share @dryerlintfan @MinnieMe60 - this is one of the modes on the camera that picks out red (also does blue, green & yellow) that I took in a London with the camera

Also if you check out my last Nov TR - you’ll see quite a few other shots that might help you decide. I was playing quite a bit with it last year as it was so new!

That's so cool!!! We ended up buying your camera's little brother... The Sony DSCHX90V/B. It's got most of the features, but not the pre set modes like HDR and this cool color thing here. Going to try it out in New Orleans next week.

That same thing happened to me back in 2004. I’ll never set foot on that ride again - even the green side.
I was there a short time after this ride was opened, at first there was a long line.CM'S started calling for attention & explained about motion sickness & that they were passing out BARF bags for those who "may"need them! Long line became "very small"!I enjoyed the ride...didn't take a BARF bag & didn't need it!

I remember those bags too - wish I’d taken one now!
Glad you managed to ride without getting sick - Chris doesn’t get sick either - I guess some can deal with rides better than others

And where does someone from the UK eat lunch?! - in the UK! - well only me.

I'm such a fussy eater that I just stick to what I like - Chris likes to try other things or eat elsewhere so when in Epcot we normally eat alone - well together but alone.

It was quite busy in Epcot so I ate my dinner on a dustbin!
Well that's where I started to eat but then I decided to sit on the floor by the water and watch the world go by.

When we first started to come to Disney I always used to sit on the floor near the water so this again bought back very happy memories

We headed towards France and were just strolling around without a care in the world - next stop France

Wow - the Beast - most of you will know he is my absolute favourite - I love him so much!

View attachment 273252

View attachment 273253

This picture was the first time I met the Beast back in 1996 - he kissed me, we hugged and straight after this picture he held my hand and tried to take me away and run away with me!

Right there and then I had the chance to stay in Disney forever, why oh why didn't I go.

View attachment 273256

We then wanted ice cream so we skipped a few countries and headed to the USA

View attachment 273255

We decide to go to watch the American Adventure but once inside there was an announcement that the 3pm show wasn't going ahead due to technical difficulties so there was only 1 thing left to do

Get ice cream!!

American Dream for me - that's the best of both worlds right there - slush and ice cream together - if I ever see anywhere in the UK selling slush and ice cream in the same shop I am going to see if they will make something similar.

Chris has a swirl cone and together we walked to Italy and sat there with the sun beating down taking in the views eating and drinking our treats.

Wednesday 21st March - our last full day - :(

As I was feeling poorly when we went to bed the alarm didn't go off until 8am today

We started to get ready and I did my usual - "head out the door" to see what the weather was like - it was schedule to be cold first thing but nice later but there was an early nip in the air.

I decided on 3/4 trousers but Chris was going with the jeans! - I kept saying to him he might regret it later but he was convinced he would be ok!

The door didn't quite close and then I realised why!

DSC05661.JPG

But even this envelope couldn't upset me - we were having the best time ever and I just removed it from the door - checked the pick up time and literally just threw it on the side!

Then it struck me - it was the last full day and I hadn't even worn any ears this trip - what no ears?! this trip has certainly been different - so all that was about to be rectified!

We were headed to Epcot for one last look at all the flowers

When we arrived it was busy! - Still not as busy as November still but more than we'd experienced so far this trip but we honestly didn't care - we were in Disney and we were chilling today anyway - I still wasn't feeling great but nothing was going to stop me!

These flowers are normally given to me at Xmas and go in a pot inside 1 bulb to each stem - i don’t care for them much at home but this looked lovely

I don’t think we’ve ever noticed this boat on the way to France - maybe we rush too much, maybe it’s new?

Stopped by the Beauty and beast topiary again - he is the love of my life after all! - only the beast version though!

And also we had a flower picture! Obviously special for the special hunt they have going in (which we didn’t do but we did look out for these little guys)

And then I bought something else!
At this point Chris asked if we were going to buy something in every country!

Now there’s an idea!

Next stop popcorn - we’ll we had only had the original bucket - no refills so far and it was our last full day! We probably didn’t get our moneys worth but who cares we can make up for it in November when we get another bucket!

We headed out of Epcot - there was a “moment” but a happy one as I had got to experience this myself rather than looking at others photos in this TR’s

I truly loved Epcot during this time - it was so special
