Trip Report A Bonus last minute March Flower and Garden trip with lots of "Moments" - COMPLETED

Hello and welcome to my trip report I'm so excited to share this report with you all as it was such a special trip - I literally loved every moment of it and there were quite a few "moments" - I'll explain more on that in a minute.

As the title suggests this was a bonus trip for me booked at just 33 days before travelling - for those of you who don't know me I'm Tracey, hello, I travel to Disney every year in November - always November for my birthday. This trip was suggested by Chris (my husband) and we found a really good deal so we decided to go for it! - further details of how this happened can be found in my pre trip report (but to be honest you won't find much else of any use in the pre trip report as there was pretty much not to update on - I just wanted to tell everyone how happy I was when I booked)

I knew we were booked but in reality things didn't sink in until we arrived and that's where the "moments" in the title come in - I would have a quivering lip, tears in my eyes and then the sunglasses would come from the top of my head over my eyes to cover the tears and there it was a "moment" as Chris would describe it - and a fair few of these happened during this trip. Because this didn't really sink in properly until we arrived there is a lack of photo's for the first part of this report but there will be a lot of photo's after this properly starts as despite being in the world in November there are over 1400 pictures from this trip - oops......

We were in Disney from 12th March to 22nd March - 10 days in the World, Direct flights from the UK and Disney's All Star Sports with park tickets for a total of £2600 a bargain and the reason we went.

so onto the details................

Sunday 11th March
The day before our flight - we woke up and finished packing, it was strange to be packing Mickey ears and shorts in a suitcase, it still felt so unreal and really hadn't sunk in. it was like we were just going through the motions but were watching someone else - it's really hard to describe but you might relate to what I mean?

We normally travel mid week so normally leave work and rush around and then head down to the airport, we took our time, had something to eat and then packed the car and were off.

We were in the car chatting saying that in a few days we'd be on BTMRR but then just kept laughing as if it wasn't real - it honestly felt as if we were going out for the day together or going on an overnight break.
Our journey was pretty quick to Gatwick - we got to the hotel around 4.30pm and lay and rested in our room for an hour.
I watched some of Dancing on Ice - (a TV programme where celebrities learn to Dance on Ice) - Chris finally got fed up of that and went down to the pub next door to the hotel for a beer.
I joined him shortly after for a quick drink and snack and then we both returned to the room for an early night
The bar was far busier than we'd ever seen it but I think that was down to the fact it was Mother's Day.

Monday 12th March
Travel day - for all our Disney trips for the past few years the alarm tune is Shakira "try everything" - the same tune was put on to wake us up this morning and when the alarm did go off we again looked at each other and chuckled almost in disbelief this was actually going to happen.
We got up, showered and then headed for breakfast - in the hotel we stay in you get a free pick up and go breakfast of croissants, bacon rolls, coffee etc.

We packed the car (again) and took the car to the long stay south car park - before we left the cost of staying in the south car park was around £20 cheaper than the north long stay car park and as we were trying to not spend excessively on this holiday we booked the cheap option and decided to take the tram to the North Terminal where the plane was waiting to take us "home"

We arrived to an empty check in - I couldn't check in online (we think due to my brand new passport) so we were grateful for an empty Virgin desk. We headed through security and did a little window shopping and had poached egg on toast for breakfast.

We boarded our plane "pretty woman" and the plane took off with 285 passengers and 16 crew - in November this figures is well over 400 passengers!

I watched a few films on the plane including Coco and really enjoyed it - a great story line and I'm sure that Walt Disney is still living in the after world as I for one often think of him and what he achieved in Disney :)

We were 6th off the plan but our luggage took ages to arrive - the airport was being updated and there seemed to be fewer luggage belts etc and things hanging over the ceiling as make shift air conditioning units.

We headed out towards the Magical Express - we've never got onto this before and there was a fairly long wait - I'm disappointed that at this stage things still hadn't really sunk in so I didn't take any photo's, that said we didn't get a Magical Express anyway - it was a Mears coach :(

We arrived at All Star Sports - (for those who know me well will know I've only ever stayed at Riverside, it's my 2nd home and I've spent over 300 nights there but this was a chance to spend 10 additional days at Disney so Riverside was going to have to wait until November) - check in was quick and I have to say all the staff here were so friendly and welcoming - they really do show Disney in a great light

We opted for the no cleaning option and were given $90 - Ice cream money - yay! - those who have read my previous reports will know my thoughts on ice cream - we're more than capable of making our own beds and on keeping things tidy so this was a no brainer for us.

Our room was the furthest away but was still far nearer to the food court etc than any room we've had at Riverside. It didn't seem that far away at all for us. The room was clean, smaller than we're used to but was fine for what we needed.

We literally dumped the bags without even opening them, walked out of the room and went to reception to order a Lyft - it was now 8.34pm (12.34am UK time) but we had shopping to get. We were off to Walmart

Kenneth came to pick us up and we spoke with him about how long we'd been awake but we were going to keep going as we had supplies to get. We joked with him that he might be coming to pick us up if he were lucky!

We picked up water, breakfast bits and chips and ordered another Lyft to take us back to the All stars - would you credit it - Kenneth picked us up and we were back by 10pm

We quickly unpacked and were in bed around 10.30pm after 21 hours awake.

Coming up next our first full day in Disney - and the start of those moments - and a lot of photos!!!!

It was something I saw on Facebook as a limited edition - not even sure of any company name - but I’m sure they must be around somewhere as I’ve had for over a year now - I save it for Disney and don’t wear it any other time! It’s one of my favourites.

Good luck trying to find one!

I bought the hoodie version of this from that facebook thing! I love it. But not really the right thing to wear in the usual Florida climate! Though still handy for cooler temps and evenings.

And YES American medicine definitely has stuff that's not allowed in the UK- it works so well lol! I miss being able to take some of the stuff for cold and flu when I'm ill. Nothing works the same!

I hope they still have those icecreams in November - just showed DH the photo and he wants one NOW! Have told him he'll have to wait. this was the face I got. Looks like you had another fantastic day and am looking forward (sadly) to the remainder of your report. :)

Me too - I have everything crossed!

Hopefully I’ll be able to get some more done tomorrow - for tonight I’m watching Saturday Night Takeaway live from Universal - it might not be Disney like last years final episode but it still makes me feel closer to home!

I might get another top now I’ve found them on Amazon!
I love mine!

And American medicine is the best I buy some every time I’m over in the US now - just a cold and flu one but I swear by it and have passed it around family members.

I'll be watching it too - having a little non-Disney fix and making me look forward to our trip even more as I want to do HP again. I loved Last years episode.

Which medicine is it?

It's like a good book, though. You won't catch all the details on one trip, but having the variety of details included ensures that you'll always see something new every time you go. Like when you re-read a favorite book.... you notice different things you didn't remember from the last time or you have a different take on them because you have a different perspective.

What I'm saying is, you don't need to slow down and take everything in, you just need to go many many times :hilarious::hilarious:
I love that analogy! I'm so telling my husband this!! I have several "comfort reading" books that are my go-tos when I'm going through a rough patch and need an escape. They are books that I can read over and over and not get tired of them....and Disney is like that. There's always something new that I didn't notice before. To quote Beauty and the Beast. "There may be something there that wasn't there before."

I always stock up when I go back "home". I miss Ludens cough drops, because my kids can actually have those, too. And also, degongestant tablets....you can't get those here. There's so much I can't get here, so I make a list and grab it all when I visit the states. My first few years here were miserable during cold and flu season!!

I didn’t think I’d be the only one - it’s funny that you can take it and get well so quickly - you could be ill for 1 day when everyone else will be ill for a week!

Touch wood - I don’t get I’ll much (as I said my sore throat and head was pretty much the first in over 2 years) and it’s probably 10 years since I’ve had a day off work but if I get the slightest hint of anything this medicine comes out!

Our last day cont .........

We finished our best ice cream of the trip (we obviously saved the best until last!). And headed to watch some glass blowing - this lady was really informative about what she was doing and she clearly loves her job.

We headed back towards the Castle for another slushy and to watch the world go by and then Wandered Main Street - just in case there was anything we wanted to buy - normally we spend ages packing the cases as there is so much to get in but I think we left with just 2 hair clips, 2 candles and a colouring in book! - packing had never been so easy!

We didn’t find anything else so we headed to get our final sorcerer cards before we left - we only needed 1 for a full set! Alas there was nothing in our packs but there was a cast member trading so we took a little look just in case - nothing - however we got talking to him and he said he might have an additional card in his pocket - nothing there but then he said he was going to go and look in his locker! He went off stage to his locker to look and returned with it and he also came back with a Xmas card! - set complete! (Obviously not just from this visit!) we tweeted a thank you so we hope Carlos is recognised we were chuffed that he did this for us.

We said our goodbyes to the Magic Kingdom - this sight is just so beautiful - there may have been another moment!

We headed to the bus stop where we waited the longest for any bus this whole trip (around 25mins) - I think the “moment” may have been captured completely be accident in this photo as we waited to leave the most magical place on earth.

We arrived back at the resort at 3.30pm

Our bus arrived Right on 3.55 - still not a magical express bus but a cruise line bus!

Bye Disney :(

We got to the airport and grabbed something to eat and then headed through security - all our snacks had to come out of the case! This is new and wasn’t expected so we weren’t prepared we had bits everywhere!

Why do different airports ask for different things to be removed? And what on earth could someone do with a snack?

We had been watching the flight since the day before hoping for a row to ourselves and were doing well but noticed while at the gate that someone had been allocated the seat next to us and there were extra legroom seats available for £45 each so we went to the desk and asked if we could upgrade to extra leg room seats. She went away, we didn’t know what she was doing but she returned and just gave us new boarding passes for a window and aisle seat with extra legroom - we asked about paying and she just said “it’s all done” so we had some Disney Magic right down to the last part of our trip.

Once on the plane the whole row behind us was empty and very soon we were told all 236 passengers were on board - (this is obviously why they didn’t charge us the plan was only half full) so Chris moved to the extra legroom row behind and both of us just lied down and rested the whole way home. I was sneezing a bit on the plane and could have done with another dose of medicine but alas it was in the suitcase but thankfully I think I slept most of the way back.

My final thoughts

This trip was so much fun I hope I’ve expressed into words how special it was. Even now when I tell people about it I am beaming, my voice raises and I speak at about 1000 Miles an hour to get everything out. Disney’s just does “it” to you! There will never be anywhere else like it on this earth and I will a always treasure the time I spend there.

It brought back so many memories of our first Disney trip. I am still beaming now from the extra days I had in Disney and in March. My Prince charming made this happen I am so lucky to have found him and for him to love Disney like I do. All the memories we make last a lifetime.

It was great to meet Disney friends from the forum - we all just get it and are as mad as each other! I mean that in a good way.

We actually liked our first time in All stars - I’d read horror stories of noisy rooms and really thought we wouldn’t get much sleep but it was quieter in the mornings than Riverside and the Room was clean but a bit worn. I still missed the beauty of Riverside though. - We didn’t get there on this trip although the temptation was there. It has made me think about all the money we spend every year to stay there though. We could get 2 trips in a year if we stay somewhere cheaper (now there’s a thought)

Overall the Parks seemed less crowded than they are in Nov- Is this because they are open more hours or just because we were lucky with when we went? Who knows bit we’re not complaining the crowds were light like our first few visits so we’d got loads done without being pushed along, this helped us to take everything a little slower and appreciate it all.

We Loved the later and lighter evenings this made the days feel longer like they do in spring\summer in the UK

I Loved the fact there was no Xmas music in the parks this made me so happy to hear theme park music - I hadn’t realised how much I missed it. - Christmas starts way too early everywhere now!

I Loved seeing all the flowers - there were trees in bloom where previously they would be bare and obviously butterflies. I saw one in my garden yesterday and it brought back happy thoughts of our Disney trip. Now to plant some more nectar flowers for them.

I’ve liked doing a TR on my return rather while live in the parks too - I actually don’t know how I found time while I was there. It’s also allowed me to add in some other pictures from earlier memories of our trips and to truly express my feelings rather than trying to get it done.

Things I did miss - acorns - we normally kick these around and Cinderella’s Castle at night with the icicles. But that wouldn’t be a reason for me not to come in March again.

And I did think wouldn’t it be great if you could order a printed book of trip reports with photos so then you could read it back and relive it all over again anytime you wanted (and even order others TR’s if you really wanted to) - similar to how you can order a photo book online putting in all your favourite photos (I did one on Saturday of this trip)
Moderators there’s an idea! Could this be possible?

One final thing from me - I’m really curious to see how many people actually read TR’s to the end so if you’ve made it this far can you do me a favour and just like this final post - I’m not expecting comments but I’m interested as obviously you can see how many views there are but how many actually read? Has anyone else wondered this in the past?

I hope you’ve enjoyed following along - thank you - we had a blast - and there’s only 213 days until our annual trip - unless by some miracle we get another trip booked in - I’ll never say never after this March bonus trip.

Kwaherini everyone - go well :)

I for one have read your TR all the way through (and all previous ones too) and really enjoy how you put your experiences into words so well. I can get the moments too - I think those of us who can't visit so often feel it more than others. You seem to have the same reaction as me when trying to explain Disney! It definitely hooks you - I was into Disney years before I got to visit! No one got me then.:joyfull::joyfull:į
Only 199 days for my party to begin their trip back to the world and we can't wait.
Definitely have to try to arrange a meet up as you'll be at POR and we'll be at FQ for a few overlapping days.
