Trip Report A Bonus last minute March Flower and Garden trip with lots of "Moments" - COMPLETED

Hello and welcome to my trip report I'm so excited to share this report with you all as it was such a special trip - I literally loved every moment of it and there were quite a few "moments" - I'll explain more on that in a minute.

As the title suggests this was a bonus trip for me booked at just 33 days before travelling - for those of you who don't know me I'm Tracey, hello, I travel to Disney every year in November - always November for my birthday. This trip was suggested by Chris (my husband) and we found a really good deal so we decided to go for it! - further details of how this happened can be found in my pre trip report (but to be honest you won't find much else of any use in the pre trip report as there was pretty much not to update on - I just wanted to tell everyone how happy I was when I booked)

I knew we were booked but in reality things didn't sink in until we arrived and that's where the "moments" in the title come in - I would have a quivering lip, tears in my eyes and then the sunglasses would come from the top of my head over my eyes to cover the tears and there it was a "moment" as Chris would describe it - and a fair few of these happened during this trip. Because this didn't really sink in properly until we arrived there is a lack of photo's for the first part of this report but there will be a lot of photo's after this properly starts as despite being in the world in November there are over 1400 pictures from this trip - oops......

We were in Disney from 12th March to 22nd March - 10 days in the World, Direct flights from the UK and Disney's All Star Sports with park tickets for a total of £2600 a bargain and the reason we went.

so onto the details................

Sunday 11th March
The day before our flight - we woke up and finished packing, it was strange to be packing Mickey ears and shorts in a suitcase, it still felt so unreal and really hadn't sunk in. it was like we were just going through the motions but were watching someone else - it's really hard to describe but you might relate to what I mean?

We normally travel mid week so normally leave work and rush around and then head down to the airport, we took our time, had something to eat and then packed the car and were off.

DSC04243.JPG

We were in the car chatting saying that in a few days we'd be on BTMRR but then just kept laughing as if it wasn't real - it honestly felt as if we were going out for the day together or going on an overnight break.
Our journey was pretty quick to Gatwick - we got to the hotel around 4.30pm and lay and rested in our room for an hour.
I watched some of Dancing on Ice - (a TV programme where celebrities learn to Dance on Ice) - Chris finally got fed up of that and went down to the pub next door to the hotel for a beer.
I joined him shortly after for a quick drink and snack and then we both returned to the room for an early night
The bar was far busier than we'd ever seen it but I think that was down to the fact it was Mother's Day.

Monday 12th March
Travel day - for all our Disney trips for the past few years the alarm tune is Shakira "try everything" - the same tune was put on to wake us up this morning and when the alarm did go off we again looked at each other and chuckled almost in disbelief this was actually going to happen.
We got up, showered and then headed for breakfast - in the hotel we stay in you get a free pick up and go breakfast of croissants, bacon rolls, coffee etc.

We packed the car (again) and took the car to the long stay south car park - before we left the cost of staying in the south car park was around £20 cheaper than the north long stay car park and as we were trying to not spend excessively on this holiday we booked the cheap option and decided to take the tram to the North Terminal where the plane was waiting to take us "home"

We arrived to an empty check in - I couldn't check in online (we think due to my brand new passport) so we were grateful for an empty Virgin desk. We headed through security and did a little window shopping and had poached egg on toast for breakfast.

We boarded our plane "pretty woman" and the plane took off with 285 passengers and 16 crew - in November this figures is well over 400 passengers!

I watched a few films on the plane including Coco and really enjoyed it - a great story line and I'm sure that Walt Disney is still living in the after world as I for one often think of him and what he achieved in Disney :)

We were 6th off the plan but our luggage took ages to arrive - the airport was being updated and there seemed to be fewer luggage belts etc and things hanging over the ceiling as make shift air conditioning units.

We headed out towards the Magical Express - we've never got onto this before and there was a fairly long wait - I'm disappointed that at this stage things still hadn't really sunk in so I didn't take any photo's, that said we didn't get a Magical Express anyway - it was a Mears coach :(

We arrived at All Star Sports - (for those who know me well will know I've only ever stayed at Riverside, it's my 2nd home and I've spent over 300 nights there but this was a chance to spend 10 additional days at Disney so Riverside was going to have to wait until November) - check in was quick and I have to say all the staff here were so friendly and welcoming - they really do show Disney in a great light

We opted for the no cleaning option and were given $90 - Ice cream money - yay! - those who have read my previous reports will know my thoughts on ice cream - we're more than capable of making our own beds and on keeping things tidy so this was a no brainer for us.

Our room was the furthest away but was still far nearer to the food court etc than any room we've had at Riverside. It didn't seem that far away at all for us. The room was clean, smaller than we're used to but was fine for what we needed.

We literally dumped the bags without even opening them, walked out of the room and went to reception to order a Lyft - it was now 8.34pm (12.34am UK time) but we had shopping to get. We were off to Walmart

Kenneth came to pick us up and we spoke with him about how long we'd been awake but we were going to keep going as we had supplies to get. We joked with him that he might be coming to pick us up if he were lucky!

We picked up water, breakfast bits and chips and ordered another Lyft to take us back to the All stars - would you credit it - Kenneth picked us up and we were back by 10pm

We quickly unpacked and were in bed around 10.30pm after 21 hours awake.

Coming up next our first full day in Disney - and the start of those moments - and a lot of photos!!!!

Next stop Pandora for our Navi FP
I didn’t think much of the film but this area is just so beautiful I could sit in there for hours just to take everything in

I would love to have seen all this area come together from inside the park - we watched over the-past few years the floating mountains go up from the car park/ entrance but I would truly love to see how all this comes together to look so good.

I’m sure these yellow flowers are not around in November!

We then headed to Navi - Chris doesn’t care for this ride, maybe because every time we’ve riden they insist on squashing everyone into the boats and we have been put in a row with other large people.

For this ride we were fortunate to be put in a row with 2 others and we all had space to move.

I actually quite like the ride particularly the music towards the end and the lilipads when they move when things jump on them - again really well done

We exited Navi and headed for a Night Blossom - it was really hot out so this was a much needed refreshment

We found a spot and sat down to people watch and drink - our relaxing spot was about to become a drama!

On the ground was what looked like chocolate - however, it turned out to be poop
It was in the middle of the walkway near to where this photo was taken.
A cast member spotted it and then went to get a couple of photopass photographers to help her direct everyone away from it - but even that didn't spot people walking through it - I personally would have blocked off the area as there was an alternate way to walk but there were just not enough staff to enable this to happen - what was so funny was that quite a few people were totally oblivious.

I don't know if it was dog poop or human poop (maybe from a baby) but we soon moved from our place and started to walk and take in more Pandora

Loads of photos to follow - you've been warned!

As the wait was only 5 mins we decided to go to It's tough to be a bug - I was pleased to see that Hopper was back - in November he wasn't there and I thought maybe he could have been removed.

This is so well put together as a 3D show it really makes you think about our little bug friends - the ending is just so funny it's always so funny to see everyone jump up - I can't wait to one day take my nephews into this show to see their reactions.

We then went in search of lunch and found this - we sat outside in the sun and talked about what a great day we had had so far - it was just so perfect.

DSC05004.JPG

There was only one place to go next on a hot summer's day - for ice cream!
From the Andapur ice cream truck - our mixed swirl cones

DSC05005.JPG

DSC05006.JPG

As we were eating our ice cream this little fellow walked up the wall and sat in the sunshine for a while. I'm not sure what it is - maybe one of you know?

We watched these guys for a bit - we normally never stop here but today they were really active and it was quite amusing to watch

We headed towards the exit to make out way out back to the hotel to prepare for our night at the Magic Kingdom

Once back at the hotel we sat outside the food court in the sun and had a drink - Chris ticked something off of his "must do" list - a blueberry muffin - although he did say this one wasn't as nice as some his had in Disney

DSC05024.JPG

DSC05025.JPG

We finished our little break and then hopped on a bus to the Magic Kingdom

We hopped onto Voyage of the little mermaid and HM and then stood on the path between 7DMT & Enchanted tales with Belle to watch the HEA

We were keen to not be with the crowds and had once been behind the castle for the fireworks a few years ago so we decided to watch the fireworks over the Beast's castle instead.

The music started - I sang along, the fireworks started and we were right in the middle of them - they were going off from the castle and about the Beast's castle too - it was truly another experience - I know you don't get the chance to see the projections on the castle but if you ever fancy a change of scenery this could be a place to watch.

While all the firework we’re going off I noticed a photo pass photographer - could this day get any better?

He was taking photos with fireworks going off in the background and there’s wasn't really a queue as everyone was caught in the moment!

We asked if he would oblige and he did!
I don’t think these are the most flatteringly but it was an opportunity and a memory we will forever treasure.

Fireworks finished we set about enjoying the rest of our night in MK - the park was open until 12pm and we had plans to stay - it was such a nice night out the air was still warm from the heat of the day - it was just perfect

We decided it was time for a magic carpet ride in the dark
Chris was in charge of making sure we didn't get wet as he had the up and down controls - there were a few close moments but thankfully we stayed dry.

DSC05153.JPG

We often talk about the time we actually saw the Genie riding with a child in 2002 on this ride - they must still treasure that memory - as we do and we weren't even riding with him

MK 1 2002.jpg

We then headed to the front of the castle for our bedtime story - the once upon a time show.

I've not seen this before so maybe we missed it if it was showing in November? - shock horror if it was.

Words cannot describe how beautiful this was - the castle looked so beautiful I couldn't stop taking photos

It was then time for a little sit down on the people mover

DSC05206.JPG

There was only one thing left after our sit down - ice cream!

We were off to the ice cream parlour for a Plaza Sundae

We decided to share as it was getting late - it came up in a green waffle! - I guess that was to celebrate St Patricks day but to be honest the waffle wasn't that nice - I don't know if it was because it was green or whether it was late in the day and they just tasted a bit chewy - at this point we were glad we shared.

We still enjoyed a nice seat eating our ice cream in the hub.

We still had around an hour and a half before closing so we headed toward Buzz

We took a leisurely stroll towards BTMRR - I took a look for the Guy Behind the Castle - Brett - I follow him on Instagram but have never actually managed to meet him! - It wasn't to be but we got a few photo's on our way

DSC05217.JPG

DSC05220.JPG

DSC05224.JPG

It was about 11.30 by the time we reached BTMRR so on we went

DSC05226.JPG

DSC05227.JPG

There seemed to be a bit of a delay and the clock was ticking - they were taking one of the trains off the track but it was finally time for the Wildest ride in the wilderness. We obviously asked for the back row again!!

As we left the ride it was about 11.56pm - we walked really fast round to the front in the hope we could ride again - a cast member was standing over the entrance - maybe in a bit to make people think it was closed so I just asked her - "are we in time for another ride?"
Imagine our delight when she said "Yes you just made it" - I literally skipped up the steps.

Once down at the station I obviously asked for the back row again - she looked at me and I promised there were a few behind us that she could load on the train at the station - as it turned out this was going to be the last train to leave for the night so she asked if row 10 would be ok - obviously I immediately said "yes"

We were going to be on the last BTMRR ride of the night to close the park down

We grinned like Cheshire cats and everyone on that last train screamed, and laughed - everyone was truly living in the moment knowing we were the last of the night.

The whole experience was so magical and another memory that will be forever in my heart.

DSC05228.JPG

We left BTMRR and walked slowly out of the park catching the "goodnight kiss" at the castle on the way.
We took a picture under the clock to confirm the time!

This whole day was just so special - my notes say it was one of the best Disney days we'd ever had - we were truly embracing every second of this our "bonus" trip.

Life certainly was great.

I absolutely love those lilipads! The rest of the ride is meh for me but those were amazing. Your pictures are so beautiful and you and Chris are couple goals. :inlove:

We headed towards world showcase and as we were walking I remembered Violet lemonade! And then started skipping - yay violet lemonade time

This was on my “must do”list and today was the day - I was not putting this off for another day this was happening now!

View attachment 273146

At first I wasn’t sure of the taste bit after 2 sips I was loving it - future violet lemonades I saw through out Reid had little flowers on the top - alas for me no flower!

Isn’t this spot beautiful

View attachment 273145

There was a photopass photographer so we jumped in - shame we had our jeans on but it’s still a nice picture all the same - we had planned on getting another later in the week when the rptemperature increased but it just didn’t happen.

They did sell them. The ladies who made them had a booth set up a few years back. We bought 2.:)

Does anyone remember Tapestry of Nations that used to happen around World Showcase each night? - These are my pictures from November 2000
I do. It was 2002 for us and it was the first year we took my oldest. She was 11 months old. I agree that that was the best parade. We have the soundtrack for it with Illuminations.
