Trip Report A Bonus last minute March Flower and Garden trip with lots of "Moments" - COMPLETED

Hello and welcome to my trip report I'm so excited to share this report with you all as it was such a special trip - I literally loved every moment of it and there were quite a few "moments" - I'll explain more on that in a minute.

As the title suggests this was a bonus trip for me booked at just 33 days before travelling - for those of you who don't know me I'm Tracey, hello, I travel to Disney every year in November - always November for my birthday. This trip was suggested by Chris (my husband) and we found a really good deal so we decided to go for it! - further details of how this happened can be found in my pre trip report (but to be honest you won't find much else of any use in the pre trip report as there was pretty much not to update on - I just wanted to tell everyone how happy I was when I booked)

I knew we were booked but in reality things didn't sink in until we arrived and that's where the "moments" in the title come in - I would have a quivering lip, tears in my eyes and then the sunglasses would come from the top of my head over my eyes to cover the tears and there it was a "moment" as Chris would describe it - and a fair few of these happened during this trip. Because this didn't really sink in properly until we arrived there is a lack of photo's for the first part of this report but there will be a lot of photo's after this properly starts as despite being in the world in November there are over 1400 pictures from this trip - oops......

We were in Disney from 12th March to 22nd March - 10 days in the World, Direct flights from the UK and Disney's All Star Sports with park tickets for a total of £2600 a bargain and the reason we went.

so onto the details................

Sunday 11th March
The day before our flight - we woke up and finished packing, it was strange to be packing Mickey ears and shorts in a suitcase, it still felt so unreal and really hadn't sunk in. it was like we were just going through the motions but were watching someone else - it's really hard to describe but you might relate to what I mean?

We normally travel mid week so normally leave work and rush around and then head down to the airport, we took our time, had something to eat and then packed the car and were off.

DSC04243.JPG

We were in the car chatting saying that in a few days we'd be on BTMRR but then just kept laughing as if it wasn't real - it honestly felt as if we were going out for the day together or going on an overnight break.
Our journey was pretty quick to Gatwick - we got to the hotel around 4.30pm and lay and rested in our room for an hour.
I watched some of Dancing on Ice - (a TV programme where celebrities learn to Dance on Ice) - Chris finally got fed up of that and went down to the pub next door to the hotel for a beer.
I joined him shortly after for a quick drink and snack and then we both returned to the room for an early night
The bar was far busier than we'd ever seen it but I think that was down to the fact it was Mother's Day.

Monday 12th March
Travel day - for all our Disney trips for the past few years the alarm tune is Shakira "try everything" - the same tune was put on to wake us up this morning and when the alarm did go off we again looked at each other and chuckled almost in disbelief this was actually going to happen.
We got up, showered and then headed for breakfast - in the hotel we stay in you get a free pick up and go breakfast of croissants, bacon rolls, coffee etc.

We packed the car (again) and took the car to the long stay south car park - before we left the cost of staying in the south car park was around £20 cheaper than the north long stay car park and as we were trying to not spend excessively on this holiday we booked the cheap option and decided to take the tram to the North Terminal where the plane was waiting to take us "home"

We arrived to an empty check in - I couldn't check in online (we think due to my brand new passport) so we were grateful for an empty Virgin desk. We headed through security and did a little window shopping and had poached egg on toast for breakfast.

We boarded our plane "pretty woman" and the plane took off with 285 passengers and 16 crew - in November this figures is well over 400 passengers!

I watched a few films on the plane including Coco and really enjoyed it - a great story line and I'm sure that Walt Disney is still living in the after world as I for one often think of him and what he achieved in Disney :)

We were 6th off the plan but our luggage took ages to arrive - the airport was being updated and there seemed to be fewer luggage belts etc and things hanging over the ceiling as make shift air conditioning units.

We headed out towards the Magical Express - we've never got onto this before and there was a fairly long wait - I'm disappointed that at this stage things still hadn't really sunk in so I didn't take any photo's, that said we didn't get a Magical Express anyway - it was a Mears coach :(

We arrived at All Star Sports - (for those who know me well will know I've only ever stayed at Riverside, it's my 2nd home and I've spent over 300 nights there but this was a chance to spend 10 additional days at Disney so Riverside was going to have to wait until November) - check in was quick and I have to say all the staff here were so friendly and welcoming - they really do show Disney in a great light

We opted for the no cleaning option and were given $90 - Ice cream money - yay! - those who have read my previous reports will know my thoughts on ice cream - we're more than capable of making our own beds and on keeping things tidy so this was a no brainer for us.

Our room was the furthest away but was still far nearer to the food court etc than any room we've had at Riverside. It didn't seem that far away at all for us. The room was clean, smaller than we're used to but was fine for what we needed.

We literally dumped the bags without even opening them, walked out of the room and went to reception to order a Lyft - it was now 8.34pm (12.34am UK time) but we had shopping to get. We were off to Walmart

Kenneth came to pick us up and we spoke with him about how long we'd been awake but we were going to keep going as we had supplies to get. We joked with him that he might be coming to pick us up if he were lucky!

We picked up water, breakfast bits and chips and ordered another Lyft to take us back to the All stars - would you credit it - Kenneth picked us up and we were back by 10pm

We quickly unpacked and were in bed around 10.30pm after 21 hours awake.

Coming up next our first full day in Disney - and the start of those moments - and a lot of photos!!!!

I was so in the moment - as you know I love a parade!

Chris tapped me on the shoulder as he had found a photo pass man and had asked they take our photo with the parade in the background - they kindly obliged

We continued watching and Chris asked yet another one to do the same thing and they obliged too
We were doing well with these photo’s :)

next stop on our "ambulatory" stroll was the Indy Speedway

DSC05262.JPG

DSC05263.JPG

We left the ride in search of refreshments - it was hot out - I'd burnt my head previously and was feeling quite hot - so a slushy would cool me down - raspberry and lemonade from the Cheshire cat place near the tea cups.

This was so nice - I'm glad I asked them to mix the flavours

DSC05264.JPG

We sat and watched the world go by and I decided I wanted another of these as we had shared! - I went back and one of the cast members was meant to be going home she was trying to give out orders etc and the girls were joking with her - I was laughing along with them - the cast member made me another - and then said it was Free!!!!

Some Disney magic right there - I enjoyed my second even more than the first - bearing in mind I hadn't had to pay for it!

Our next stop was BTMRR - ride number 4 for this trip

DSC05265.JPG

DSC05266.JPG

Straight after this photo the ride stopped - we were hanging in the back row on the slope!

DSC05267.JPG

We weren't there for long and our ride soon continued.

For that one there was a photo pass person standing there with the lantern to get your photo taken with it. So we were actually given something to hold - we thought it was pretty cool hence the reason we asked her to take our photo.

I think the timelapsed ones you mention are the kind of video ones they put on your account - we don’t tend to bother with those - unless they are from the rides and then we do take a look.
It was weird, because there was no video. It was just a regular photospot outside of Spaceship Earth, next to one of the stores there. But every picture is kind of blurry and has ghost-body parts in the background. Maybe the photographer was new and just didn't know what he was doing?

Next we were off to 7DMT - I still don’t know how the larger people get on this ride - they made those seats so small!

E477D1FE-3D98-4891-8A6C-EB6DB8BE3B18.jpeg

We then decided it was time for ice cream - I always say while on holiday you should have 1 a day - we shared this one but up to this point said this was the best we had had - that would change later in the holiday!

We had managed to snag a FP to meet Rapunzel and Tiana so as soon as we’d eaten our ice cream off we went

We’ve met both of them before and love our Rapunzel interactions

We headed to the monorail for our journey over to Epcot

DSC05275.JPG

I was looking forward to taking this trip to see the flowers in Epcot from high above the track - I wished we could have asked for the front seat (like we did in 2005)

Epcot front monorail 2005.jpg

We weren't disappointed though - the flowers looked beautiful even if the sun was just setting.

We entered the park and managed to get some pictures of the topiaries at the entrance without anyone in them!

Hello there Spaceship earth

DSC05290.JPG

I've only just realised how nice the next 2 photos are - I hadn't properly looked at most of them since we've been back but I love the difference angles and didn't even realise I had the monorail in the first one!

DSC05291.JPG

DSC05292.JPG

First stop spaceship earth - this was the first ride we ever did in Disney so it has a very special place in our hearts - we were seated in our very own ride on padded seats!

The cast members even said that was like being a VIP

DSC05294.JPG

We tried to get a picture of us and the big screen behind us but it kind of looks blurred!

DSC05303.JPG

And as we exited I tried to get a selfie with the bubblegum wall - but Chris photobombed it!

More flower photos

DSC05309.JPG

And then we went for an "ambulatory" walk around world showcase

I hadn't realised that the dwarf's lanterns light up - it's those little touches!

We stopped in France for a pastry - I had this Lemon Citron in November and liked it - I love Lemon Meringue pie and this reminds me of that. Sorry I had started to eat before I remembered the photo!

We had decided to head towards the fountain of nations to watch the fireworks - to try somewhere else out

Stopped to get a photo - and this photo wasn’t posed for - I literally just looked at Chris and the moment was captured - when Chris saw this on our account he nearly had a ”moment”

I think this little grin was with me the whole holiday anyway and to be honest hasn’t really left since I’ve been back!

5EAF524D-E51B-4821-96A6-CFD5EE782503.jpeg

We watched a few fireworks - the only thing with Epcot fireworks is that don’t stream the music so myself and Chris just sung to ourselves

It’s certainly sometimes is worth changing your normal viewing point for fireworks as it certainly gives everything a different view.

Fireworks over we left Epcot to the tapestry of nations music virtually skipping out of the park.

We’d had another great, memorable day.

Happy Easter!!

Your topiary photos are just breathtaking. The Flower and Garden festival looks absolutely beautiful! The colors and the vibrancy makes it really feel like spring has come!

I love the nostalgic photos put in! You should have ran away with the Beast when you had the chance! Now you’ve got competition! ;)
And the old Epcot wand! I remember talking myself out of buying a piece of it from a junkyard on eBay. I have problems!

So awesome you were able to meet up with Amy!! And her awesome ears! I swear I’m not jealous anymore @ajrwdwgirl and will not ask you to sell them to me anymore! :p

The fireworks photopass pictures are amazing! You must frame them! What great luck to find a photographer at that moment! I’ve never seen that before!

Looks like you had such a magical trip! I am loving living through your joy!

Monday 19th March

We originally had a FP for spaceship earth this morning at 9am but Chris had to take a work phone call which took a little longer than expected so we swapped our FP for Living with the land at 9.30am

I took a picture of this tree as we entered as I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in November but I could be wrong!?

As we left it was time for a planned meet up with @blgauger and @becca_

We had agree to meet by the Anna & Elsa topiaries.

Chris had agreed to leave me to it and go to get lunch in China - he joked with me saying maybe no one would turn up but I knew different!

We all made it!
We chatted like old friends for over an hour about so many things - time went by so fast.
I’d obviously joked with Brittany last year about maybe having to go and stay after our hotel was moved for the night and we hadn’t managed to meet so it was good to finally say hello.

I loved our meet up - it’s good to meet with friends on these boards - that’s when I realise I’m not alone on my passion for Disney!

And Becca nan was adorable - I really wish I could have gone to Disney with my nan that would have been so special.

Eventually we had to part ways - Becca was on her way to SE, Brittany was meeting a friend and I had to find Chris - we parted ways and said our goodbyes - until next time friends :)

Oh and I declare the Fichwa fellow as the @prfctlyximprct photo op spot! I must claim it because it’s in Animal Kingdom. LOL :) love that you thought of me there

It was breathtaking - I am so pleased we had the chance to visit!

And I know I should have taken the beast while I could! And we both know I was there first so I’m sure you’ll back off.

We were just so lucky in many ways with our photo pass pictures this trip and normally we don’t really bother.

Glad that you are enjoying the trip and the nostalgic photos too - I guess that’s the advantage of doing this report at home rather than in the world - I have access to all my files! It was such a great trip.

And you can declare that spot yours in AK I think that’s only fair - from now on it belongs to Nicole.
