That's fine. That's fine. The large scene being perpetually wet and effects working was a much better set up than what was not with DL's. I like that the effects worked.

It would be nice if we were even getting that scale for WDW's like the original concept art depicted, but it has since been scaled down so much.
If it's going to be scaled down and crappy (as I would expect) then just keep Dinosaur.

... by scaled down do we mean scaled down compared to Disneyland IJA (again, makes sense due to architecture) or scaled down compared to the D23 concept art? Because if the latter... yeah just keep Dinosaur, much easier to just make the Dino Institute be a Latin American museum, lol. Maybe a branch of the Dinoland institute, retcon it so that the ride takes place in the Tropical Americas village instead of vaguely-Route-66-inspired-Florida.

“Professor without precisely knowing what’s in Indiana jones at DAL, or anything in tropical America’s, do you say it’s time for our viewers to crack open each others skulls and feast on the goo inside?”

Clearly not many of you rode CTX back in the day because if you did, you would know the finale track is exactly the same as IJA because CTX ended with a meteor hurdling towards you. It had the moving (jungle) wall and the big bolder that had lighting and other effects to loook like a metor. The problem was it didn’t really work and instead looked like a slow moving bolder.

If Disney wanted to they could end IJA AK exactly like how the other two end.
Wait, but the moving wall was only to simulate backing up. Are you sure they had the "moving jungle wall?"

Yes. The concept art had already changed by the time we got an update. The Pyramid is much smaller compared to the original announcement.

Yeah. I don't think a jungle wall ever moved. That would not create the illusion of it coming towards you. Instead the meteor itself actually did move forward in CTX just slowly under a strobe light and it rotated on an axel. Thus giving a meteor coming at you. The ending had a rewrite early on to give it, more verbal impact of "They're not gonna make it" But as you will see in this video that I cannot time stamp. It really did for a split second look like a giant rock coming at your face. Go to 14:40

It worked fairly well in terms of concept actually. Upkeep may be a different story. People just wanted a dinosaur finale and the Carnatorus as he was the intensity of the movie that was coming out and the few run ins were not enough. They wanted him in the climax of the ride one more time. So they built the giant head on the forward part of the platform. Thus he seems closer as there is a strobe on it and the head is oversized to tell your brain he is in your face suddenly.

It is also funny to me that the burning atmosphere scent effect came back to the finale randomly at times over the years.

I’ve seen this before and it literally looks like it was photoshopped into the video… badly.

I could have sworn the wall still moved backwards as an illusion to make the metor look closer.

That would be a cool idea. I think what you would get is more of a reverse Vertigo effect than anything.

It only works in Indy because the vehicle is stopped and then in story, vehicle is reversing as that is what the car wash like armature around you gives the sensation of. The vehicle Stop in CTX was always programed more on Iguanadon lifting log and the laser net. When the meteor scene existed, it was a laser grid of the time tunnel brinigng you back like a portal as the meteor above crashed through it and vehicle programed as if it launched the back tires up and you forward back to the present.

That is because it is edited in as an imposed effect to give the premise of what it was during previews. It shows you essentially where it was placed for effect. No moving walls, and was gone by opening and replaced by a Carnatorus head.

I think I’m missing something. Scaled down? What is and who said that? Thanks

There has been talk, but more recently, the concept art changes have been brought up. At least in terms of perspective and expectation.

This gives the impression of many stairs, crumbling and looking like a south American Temple similar to the scale of the facade of Tokyo's.

Just barely covers the height of the current Dinosaur Entrance, which is not the tallest building in the world either. You can still see the basic shape on the sides of this and the temple very small.

You’re right the new one looks toned down. Lame!

Ahhhhhh, okay. The first one is blue sky iirc, so I was kinda expecting the latter anyway, also thought you were more talking about the interior of the attraction. It's.... fine, though the blue sky version is so much better and still fits the underlying architecture. I still say they should've kept Dinosaur if they were going to try to save cash unnecessarily.

It is sad we were only expected a thin facade over the Dino institute.

That being said. Since it is a retheme of existing everything. Shouldn't the theming be the one thing that impresses the most?

This seems like the same company and process we went through with Tiana and EPCOT.
