Hurrah! Thanks
@WDWtraveler do you have any pics of these with the painting completed?
Edit: Whoops, I'll check the Now and Then thread.
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/then-and-now-wdw-comparison-photos.901790/what is the Now and Then thread? I was wondering the same thing about the rock work
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere.
Any idea why they're painting CoP white?
So the design is changing again? It’s apparently being repainted with a colour scheme headed in the direction of Tomorrowland’s new look.

It'll be interesting to see what cosmetic changes will happen to the land prior to the opening of TronI know they aren't considered a super reliable source, but Carousel Of Progress Love (https://twitter.com/carouselof) is reporting on Facebook what others have just recently mentioned. I'm not sure how reliable their report is, but it would make some sense.
"Good morning dreamers of a great big beautiful tomorrow!
Since we’ve had a few inquiries about this, we thought we'd just let everyone know at once.
Is the design painted on the theaters changing? Yes, it is. But, not entirely changing.
The primary reason for the 2016 repainting was because Tomorrowland as a whole had plans for refreshments in 2017 with quite a few things changing. In February 2017 Carousel Of Progress was initially scheduled for refurbishment for a new version of the show to start playing, but here we are in 2018, and it's still the same version of the show that's been playing in the theater for 25 years.
The main reason why this didn't happen was due to plans for the area being changed basically every other day as they were dreaming and designing, and there was eventually a point where everything got put on hold until it got sorted out. In mid-2017, things finally began rolling again.
Tron plans were made official and later announced as a new attraction joining the Tomorrowland family, this being one of the roadblocks that held stuff up due to how much planning was required for placement, facilities, how it affected the area, etc.… With one major thing out of the way, work and reimagining of the land could continue.
As of right now, carousel is hopefully going to be getting its new show around the end of 2018 or possibly near the beginning of 2019, but no later than 2020 because of other projects happening in the area. (Please keep in mind, these are only estimates, and can change at any time.)
Tomorrowland will be changing cosmetically with new colors, lighting, and attractions, etc…, and that's why Carousel Of Progress is currently getting repainted. Since the carousel already had the issue with grease and it needed to be addressed, they decided just to get it done now and not wait till later. It's just getting a few changes, but nothing too crazy.
Now that we've hopefully answered some of your questions, we hope you have a great big beautiful day, and remember tomorrow is just a dream away!"

They’re part of the wider land refresh. TRON should have influence. There was supposed to be a lot of cosmetic changes made to TL around the time of the space rocks. Did the rest just get put on hold until now?
So they were waiting for Tron to be settled before proceeding with the TL overhaul in earnest? They’re part of the wider land refresh. TRON should have influence.
