9-11 Documentary on CBS

First of all, thanks to Tramp for his awesome thread, including the pictures and sound bites. Next, I wanted to get your opinions of the 9-11 documentary that was on CBS last night. It was amazing the footage that the 2 Frenchmen filmed. It gave me chills to realize what the firemen and the tower workers went through. It must have been hard for family members to re-live what happened but it also reminds us why we are still fighting over seas right now.

My only complaint was that it was difficult to watch it with my children due to the language. I understand the great stress that these firemen were under, I don't blame them. But, they could have bleeped it for the TV.

What was your overall feelings for the documentary????

I started to watch the 9/11 documentary last night with my 11 year old daughter but when i heard the language that was the end of it....it's typical of network executives to think that leaving the bad language in would provide more of an impact, as if the horrific events of the day weren't enough. I guess they wanted to push the reality envelope to the edge.
I recorded it and will watch the program at another time.

I did the exact same thing with my 11 year old. I thought it was so important for my daughter to see one the most important historical events in her lifetime, but when the cuss words started flying, I sent her off to bed. I did not think the cussing added anything to the impact of the show. Too bad I couldn't watch it with my family.

Ironic that the policeman made a reference to Disneyland with a extra "adjective" before it.

I didn't mind the use of fowl language. I think the documentary would have lost something if they would have been bleeping them. What you could have done is said to your Son or Daughter, "You know that these men are using words that are bad and should not be repeated, don't you?" I think it would be more beneficial for them to be asked that of a parent instead of just turning the documentary off then, like you said, missing one the most important historical events in her lifetime. JMO.

I have seen that footage on the news over here. the frenchmens film was eyeopening, the last time the inside of the wtc would be seen on tv. I did not hear any swearing, at what point was this?

The show was excellent and a good reminder for all of us of how our country was attacked. Watching the program reinforced my beliefs on the situation. As for the language, my boys,7 and 10, know they are not to repeat what they heard, but they also know that's how some folks talk. We don't even address the language with them. It was a good show for them to see, as I explained alot of the graphic sounds and scenes to them. I would liked to have taped it, but my VCR is on it's last leg. I do want to get a tape for my kids to see later on in life.

To Alberrisford, the language started after the poor guys starting going thru the terror of the situation. I just don't think the words were necessary, because the looks and expressions on their faces said it all. My prayers still go out to those guys. They are truely heros.

it would have been a massive distraction bleeping out the swearing, but regardless...that was a very painful show to watch and I think it may have been too soon after 9/11 to show it...I hate to be a cynic, but it seems like CBS was kinda trying to capitalize off of the video footage. I just was really disturbed by it...I mean, every time you heard a thud or glass shattering, you knew that was someone's body hitting something...and those images of the planes hitting the buildings will haunt me forever. This show however offered a new aspect...the sound of the planes flying over Manhattan and slamming into the buildings...but they keep showing the planes hitting and at that instant hundreds of people are dying...again...very tough to watch. But...once the buildings fell and everything was covered with dust and papers and everything went dark and the streets were completely silent (which NEVER happens in NYC)...I had to turn it off...too much to take in...maybe if they play it again in a couple years I'll be able to handle it...certainly not in six months, though...9/11/02 will be tougher to get through than today...sorry for ranting...just tough to cope with...

events of Sept 11th

The events of Sept 11th were so serele, and horrifying to see unfolding live. It is too unbearable to continue reliving. It is hard to discuss such sadness on such a happy forum. God knows were all belong...Too much sadness here to say anymore. How do you fix so many broken hearts? There are no words.

i thought it was an excellet documentary and very tastefully done, the cursing i really believe was needed to show the emotion of the firefighters. My dad was near that area at the time so it was interesting when he was talking about each part of the morning during the video.

The documentary was very touching. I did not want to see it, but I felt like I HAD to watch it. We were watching the news about the first hit when the second hit occurred. It still feels like it was not real. Will we wake up from this nightmare anytime soon?

To this day I still feel guilty because we were laughing about something when a co-worker came and told us that we had to see the TV. I just hate the fact that I was laughing at something when those terrible events were occurring.

Sorry that was more that I was going to say. I just needed to say a few things.
