We have a dedicated 80's video station here in Canada (Much Music Retro).
80's & 90's music 24/7 no VJ's no Shows. Just music.
But...
Too much Madona, Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran.
Not enough Cure, Smiths & New Order.
IMHO

Takes me back. I still listen to 80's music. Adam Ant, The Clash, Squeeze....

Kadee don't worry about 36, I hit 40 this year. My kids saw a picture of me with a a...a...a mullet :zipit: . They just don't realize that back then they were the fashion. I thought I hid those pictures, but we're taking them to see Grease and someone was looking for the pictures of when I was in Grease back in HS. Instead they found the pictures from college, with the mullet.
OMG!!!    A Mullet????  YOU have GOT to post those pictures!!!!! You have definitely made me feel better, I must say!! We did "Grease" in high school, too! I guess just about every school did. I think I liked our high school version better than the professional production I saw. The movie is still a classic, though.

OH! and the 80's music!!!! I STILL listen to it. My 15 year old daughter even likes it. How weird is that?!! Journey, Styx, Van Halen were my favs! Of course that is only the top of a VERY long list. I listen to the 80's on my digital music channel all the time. I can't get enough of it. THey even play music that I had completely forgotten about.

I even liked Violent Femmes!!!! I know....shocking! I even have their CD!

I've never heard the song, but I like some of the music from the 80s. I listened to it on the radio all summer at work.

BTW in 1985 I was one year old.

Okay, I'm totally addicted to the song 1985 by Bowling for Soup and I've been playing it to death.

Yeah, so in 2004, it's 1985. In the summer of '85, a big song was "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams. And, of course, "Money for Nothing (I Want my MTV)" by Dire Straits. And probably, according to my CP trailermate, something by Depeche Mode, or Flock of Seagulls, and according to another CP trailermate anything by Madonna! I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, but thanks for the flashback to '85. This thread combined with DonickCo's 79 aerials and 80 park photos, and I'm halfway to senility! :p

Don't jump on the bandwagon! I haven't heard that song, but it is so on target - U2, Springsteen, Duran Duran - too funny!

Anybody remember that the model on the hood of the car in that Whitesnake video turned out to be Tawny Kitaen, who made the news a couple years ago when she was arrested for beating the crap out of her Major League baseball player husband!

The person in charge of the music at the player's field was fired for playing "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake (the infamous car video) as he came out on the field.

By the way MKCP, welcome to the club. Pull up an easychair, careful, don't break a hip sitting down, and try to rememmber.............uhhhh, where was I. :lookaroun

Well, I have to insist you watch the video. It is hilarious. The band members are playing in a garage, and every time the garage door comes up, they're spoofing some '80s era group. The band members even don black dresses, high heels, red lipstick in their homage to Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love." And yes, there is a scene where the housewife does a dance number on the hood of their car.

Okay, that was a really cool video. I really liked it alot. The song had seemed like it might be neat, but now that I've listened to it, its even better. Thanks.

Oh, and the woman in the video... hottie.... definitely...

Ah, the 80s...MY era  I graduated college in 1986 and hit the big 4-0 this year...hence the sig line

MTV was on in my house 24/7~ Omg, I even entered to win John Cougar Mellencamps (as he was known in those days) Pink House  I was sooo into the whole 80s thing...hair, minis, like, omg, everything! I see where the giant heeled pumps we wore back then are making a comeback..and I do still have a pair of my 80s jeans in my closet (some days, I looked like the lost member of Menudo  ) Now, if only I can get INTO THEM

Btw, there is a new music channel on the horizon. It's called FUSE and we do get it here at times...although I never quite know where to find it. They are the ones who gave William Hung all that air time :lookaroun

I miss the 80's. What fun that decade was. Duran Duran was pasted all over my room, radio or MTV was on all the time, hanging out with friends... *sigh* I feel so old now (I'm 33).

I graduated from high school in 1985. I was really big into Duran Duran and Def Leppard. Can you say Pyromania. I even owned one of those British flag t-shirts like the one worn in the Photograph video. Ok, I can't believe I just admitted to that but if someone else can admit that they had a mullet then I'm in good company.

I still to this day cannot break away from straight leg pants. Eventhough the flared leg has come back in style, I just can't wear them. I'll stick to my straight leg Levis.

One of the reasons I tune in to VH1 early mornings before 10:00 am central...just to hopefully catch a glimpse of this video..one of the rare moments you can actually hear music on tv anymore.

DMC-12

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
In 1985... I think I saw Back to the Future in the theater like 20 times that fall  I was 9 years old.

Here is another song kinda like 1985...it's called "19 Something" by Mark Wills.

I Saw Star Wars at least eight times
Had the Pac Man pattern memorized
and I've seen the stuff they put inside Stretch Armstrong
well, I was Roger Staubach in my back yard
had a shoebox full of baseball cards
and a couple of Evel Kneivel scars on my right arm
well I was a kid when Elvis died
and my mama cried

it was 1970 somethin'
in the world that I grew up in
Farah Fawcett hairdo days
Bell bottoms and eight track tapes
lookin' back now I can see me
oh man did I look cheesy
I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
ah, it was 1970 somethin'

It was the dawning of a new decade
we got our first microwave
Dad broke down and finally shaved those sideburns off
I took the stickers off my Rubiks cube
Watched Mtv all afternoon
My first love was Daisy Duke
in them cut-off jeans
Space shuttle fell out of the sky
and the whole world cried

it was 1980 somethin'
in the world that I grew up in
Skatin' rinks and black Trans Ams'
big hair and Parachute pants
and lookin' back now I can see me
oh man did I look cheesy
I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
ah, it was 1980 somethin'

now I got a mortgage and SUV
but all this responsibility
makes me wish...sometimes

that it was 1980 somethin'
in the world that I grew up in
Skatin' rinks and black Trans Ams'
big hair and Parachute pants
and lookin' back now I can see me
oh man did I look cheesy
I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
ah, it was 1980 somethin'

1970 somethin'...

ah it was 19 somethin'
