It's not really Christmas, unless the snow is over 6 feet deep. o_O

I live in So Cal now and it feels really lame to listen to Christmas music about "frightful weather" and see inflatable snowmen and lighted snowflakes in people's yards when it's warm enough to be at the beach. I have too strong of a mental association between giant heaps of snow and Christmas...it's hard to undo that and get the Christmas "feeling" when I'm surrounded by palm trees.

I was so excited last night...we stopped at Legoland for a couple hours on our way home from shopping and discovered they set up an entire area full of snow. My kids got to throw snowballs and go sledding surrounded by Christmas lights, music, and machine-generated snowflakes falling. It felt pretty authentic, even if my son was wearing shorts. :)

So did I and that is precisely the reason why I don't want to do it anymore. Isn't it strange how the same things have that much effect on people in completely different directions.;)

I've always felt it would be great to see Disney in the snow and that it would feel more like Christmas were that the case. Then again I am from England and so associate cold weather and snow with that time of year. However after an hour or so of trudging through snow I think the novelty of snow in Orlando would soon wear off. On my first Christmas holiday in Disney as much as I enjoyed it, I also felt there was something missing on the day. Then however I headed over to the studios and entered the park.

The daylight was fading as I entered Muppet Vision 3D and when I exited it darkness had taken over. As I turned the corner I saw the Osborne Christmas lights and heard the music. The next second the fake snow was falling from the machines on the rooftops and Disney had nailed it, there was my perfect iconic Christmas and that feeling that I had been missing. I strolled around in a dream like state enjoying the lights, the music and the 'snow' all without having to suffer the cold.
