It's supposed to go up to the 50's here next week and people will be dancing in the streets!

Yeah, 2010 was memorable for us too.... this was right after Christmas, and then it got worse.

Yup, that is your normal, average, blicky, blucky, extremely yucky, typical winter day that I would picture.

Boy, do I not miss it. Snow, cold, ice, slush, grey skies, bitter winds, bundling up to get the mail (and dealing with wet pant legs afterwards), pulling the garbage can through the snow, cleaning off the car after shopping, et cetera, et cetera...

I'll deal with the occasional 80 degrees on Christmas, lol.

I grew up in Indiana. My husband grew up in Florida. It is 100% wrong to see palm trees with Christmas lights on them. I will never get used to being able to walk around in my shorts (and 60 degrees is short weather for us northern people) and hear Christmas carols. It's just wrong.

As they say, if loving that is wrong, I don't want to be right!

Well, around these parts ( 4 state region: Md, Va, WV, and Pa) they called it "Snowmegeddon"! That's the year our president from Chicago called the DC area folks "whimps".;) Last year, we had no snow at all. I do like my change of seasons. I am strange, but I absolutely love snow. Perhaps it's because I'm a teacher! LOL.:D
But, no matter what time of year, being in Disney is the best!:D I don't care about the weather at WDW. I'm there, and I'll deal w/ the heat & humidity in summer, or a "cold snap" in winter.:D Hakuna Matata!:D

Very cold weather makes for an awful theme park experience. A couple years ago, we went to the Magic Kingdom the day after Christmas - and as the sun went down, the temperature became bone chilling. I never thought I would be able to watch Holiday Wishes the day after Christmas on a practically deserted Main Street, but it happened. I also couldn't have imagined wait times would be in the 20-30 minute range, but thats what it was after about 9pm. Was pretty amazing.

was that like,,,,,3 years ago??

Maybe 2,,,,,I can't remember,,,,,,,

we had the coldest temps on record,,,,,it's the only time in the last 12 years I've lived here, that I remember seeing the orange trees iced down after they sprayed them.

Times snow and cold are acceptable: Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, New Years
Time snow and cold are not acceptable: The remainder of the year
Unless you're getting married on New Year's Day, and most of your guests can't make it because of a snowstorm. Happened to a co-worker one year - I couldn't get down the street, never mind across town.

And I do remember that one Christmas Eve that my car slid sideways partway down College Hill in Providence. Thank God there wasn't any traffic.

When people start singing along to "Winter Wonderland" there is some sort of brain valve that apparently shuts down things like you just mentioned.

I had to drive in snow for years and years and it never got any easier. I was lucky and only had one possibly serious incident but that turned out OK. I made my living being on the road and I dreaded the winter. I almost had a hatred listening to people say..Oh, isn't that beautiful. NO, IT IS NOT! It's cold, wet and extremely dangerous. It's like having a hurricane everyday for 5 months. Removing it costs a lot of money, staying warm cost a lot of money and to be honest, at this stage of my life I can think of absolutely no redeeming value at all.:(

I always say "Snow is fine, but it has to stay off the roads." A couple years ago we went to stop at an intersection and there was ice underneath the snow and we slid into the middle of the intersection. Thankfully the other drivers were paying attention and they stopped in time.

Several years ago we did 2 360's going down a hill when my husband tapped the breaks not realizing the snow on the road had a thin coating of ice on top of it. Fortunately cars at the bottom of the hill saw us and stopped. Miraculously we din't hit anything , but we missed a telephone pole literally by inches.
Have I mentioned that I hate winter?

Nope, I love living in Florida where I can enjoy Christmas without having a snow emergency and not being able to leave the house (used to live in NJ).

Back when snow had a positive lean for me, I was 5 years old and I remember this like it was yesterday. My Mother, Father and I had just left my Grandparents house on Christmas Eve. As we pulled into our driveway I looked around and, for the first time, noticed that there was no snow on the ground. I instantly panicked! I cried out that Santa wouldn't be able to land his sleigh without snow and that I wasn't going to get anything for Christmas.:(

My Dad thought quickly and simply and calmly explained that Santa also had wheels on the sleigh just in the event of him getting someplace that didn't have snow, like our place at that particular time. Since that date I realized that snow was not necessary. :D

Speaking of warm Decembers, took the kiddo to karate today in a short sleeve t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops. :D
