8 days to go - last minute questions?

Only 8 days to go until our Fall trip! Whoo hoo!

I have a couple of questions if anyone can help:

1) If I get a 10 day Base ticket and on the last day upgrade to an AP when would my AP expire and/or need to be renewed? Would it be the first day of use of my 10 day Base or when I actually upgraded?

2) We will be going to the Grand Floridian for the 1900 Park Fare Character Dinner and I was wondering what is the proper dress code for this? It will be Me, Wife and DD11 and DD8 - who hopes to see Prince Charming!

3) I will be searching out the DOLE WHIP for the first time this trip and I am confused: is there a regular Dole Whip and one with Pineapple juice? Which one is the one everyone gets? :veryconfu

Thanks for any help!

I can help with two and three.

1900 is a very casual restaurant so I would not worry about getting too dressed up. I would say dress the same way you would dress for Boma, or any other buffet type meals.

As far as the Dole Whip, you can get just the plain pineapple ice cream or you can get the float which is basically the ice cream with some pineapple juice in the bottom of the cup. Personally, I like the float. You can also get it swirled with vanilla as well. Hope this helps. Have a great trip.

You can also get chocolate or vanilla dole whip. My mom isn't a pineapple fan and just gets the vanilla. She is just as addicted to it as the rest of the family is to the pineapple! On this trip, I'll be trying to pineapple/vanilla swirl in the float! :slurp: You can get it at Aloha Isle in Adventureland and at the Polynesian in Captain Cook's (I believe, I've never actually had it there, just read that.) Have a great trip!

I may be wrong, but if you get a 10 day pass and you use 9 of the days up and go to upgrade to an AP you only get credit for the one day left. You would be better off getting the AP from the start and getting a dining card and see if you can get any AP room discounts this trip.

You can also have it in pineapple juice. Kind of like a coke float just with Dole whip and pineapple juice. For me it is the 100% pineapple dole float all the way.

Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the replies all!

I figured the AP would be the first day of the 10 day use. :brick:I currently have a single day base ticket with the Free Dining Package and we will be upgrading to a 10 day base upon arrival and I was just weighing out the cost of adding an AP upgrade to it and wondering how many more times we could get back down to WDW again. :veryconfu Also thinking about the BounceBack for next year as well where I would have to get another Base ticket for the Free Dining Package and I do not think the AP would help out. Plus the AP would run out about a week before we would get back on the Bounce back.

Dole Whip - can't wait to try it! :slurp: I will probably try just the regular pineapple dole whip and then later try the float! I will let my family try mine because I am not sure if they like Pineapple, and if not they can the other varieties!

Thanks again to all! We are ready to get back to the world!

You can always just upgrade one ticket to the annual pass. If you get to go back, but at a time when there's no other promotional offer, you can use your AP for a discounted rooms. If there winds up being a fantastic promo when you can go back, well, you've only "wasted" the money of one annual pass, that will hopefully be balanced out by whatever you're saving on the promo. Either way, you cut the risk, but you also cut the reward.

Or, you can roll the dice one way or the other:

-Upgrade all the tickets and anticipate going back at least one more time in a year (plus, you won't have to worry about arranging your schedule around a promotional offer, which for some people, becomes more of a hassle if work or school schedules make it difficult).

Don't upgrade, and hope a kick-butt offer rolls around, AND at a time you can take advantage of it.

I had another question as I am looking forward a little!

Castle Christmas Lights.....On a regular night at MK they do the little turning on skit correct? (Basically we can see the Castle lights on even if we do not go to the MVMCP?)

Yes, I am asking about this December. When they do come on, are they on for regular nights or just MVMCP?

Not sure if it'll help but when we were there in December last year they had a nightly "lighting ceremony" if I'm not mistaken. It's done right after sundown.

The lights are beautiful by the way...I took video on the TTA and when you round that first corner and see the castle a lit up it's just amazing!

I went to MVMCP last December, I want to say they started the lighting ceremony at 6pm. Since they do not start clearing the park of day guests until 7pm I think you will be able to see it. Very cute show , BTW.

I know it sounds crazy but me and my family would like to go down for a quick weekend just to see the lights at the MK and DHS! :hammer:

Thanks for the info! I am trying to get all kind of info in my head as we go down in about a week and there might be some bounceback offers and/or I might spring for an AP.
