MK 7 Dwarfs Cottage Scene -- Can't see it during the day

See, this is the stuff that drives me up the frickin wall. You'd think that Garner Holt, or whatever has (tragically) replaced the Imagineers would have realized the potential problems with the cottage scene. Aren't those guys supposed to be experienced professionals??? It's all one with the Mermaid ride and its lousy lighting that allowed rods and poles to show in the "Under the Sea" scene - not to mention the dopey Ariel figure with the soft-serve hair. :p Plus the dwarf AAs already breaking down and- yes - AGAIN - the broken yeti. This is unbelievable. Is there no-one in The Walt Disney Company that understands and believes in Walt's legacy of quality????

it had tons according to my friend who is a ride ops there. All new rides have glitches and bugs to work out, the difference is uni is willing to work em out when they happen. jk jk but kinda not really.

Ah, gotcha. I thought the reference was to FJ having show quality issues like SDMT apparently is having.

To be fair, if there's any ride that deserves a pass on technical issues, it's Forbidden Journey.
Why?

Couldn't agree more. And they really have no excuse with it having technical problems "because it is a new ride system and animatronics" or whatever, because the opening was already extremely delayed. It saddens me.

This is upsetting to read.
We've waited how long for this ride?
Yes I know that it just opened and that's the time when most
Problems are realized. However.... It's still sad.
How long until we have a broken effect that won't be fixed just like the one over at DAK?

Well, not to be pessimistic, but this is clearly not the only problem with the ride either. I can think of at least four times over three days that we were in MK that the ride went down. Apparently they're realizing a lot of problems right now lol. I hope they can get things consistently going again soon.

In a way I think this is a repeat of the Yeti problem. Not that the figures inside the cottage were ever intended to be breathtaking displays of animatronic technology like the Yeti was...but both Snow White and Everest are "coasters with a show" with relatively few show effects, and in both, riders are deliberately not given a good look at the finale. In both cases, I understand what the designers were thinking -- in the case of the Yeti, a "did I really see that monster?" effect, in Snow White, the idea that you are peeking into a domestic scene unobserved -- but both can come across as a letdown (obviously the Yeti is even more of a letdown when he's motionless). If either ride had more scenes I think the endings would work better, but as it stands, I think it was a mistake to have these rides end with a glimpse.

I've ridden it about 8 times in the past 2 weeks....Snow White was only dancing 1 time and doc singing hi ho was slumped over once and not moving as well. Plus just walking by the ride has been down several times....not good
It's just a tad inconvenient that non-Floridians visiting the Kingdom face 'sold out' Fast Passes and 1 1/2 hr. wait times since so many locals can ride it 8 times. I wonder what the record is for repeat riders?

It went down last Sunday and Weds. when we had our FPs. Sunday the second CM was trying very hard to not let us use our FPs because we were late. I had to remind her multiple times that when we did arrive on time the ride was broken and that was beyond our control. She said we could have ridden a different ride...Pirates, Space, HM, she named about 5 rides we could have used the FPs on. I then had to remind her that the first CM said as long as we didn't use any of our other FPs even 5 minutes early OR use the 7DMT fps for something else we could save them and use them when the ride was working again.

The opening was never delayed. Just the fan-boi perception of what the opening 'should have been'... It's easy to set schedules when you have no idea what needs to be done to get to the finish line.

Actually, I think the CM was right in regards to changing your Mine Train FP for a different attraction if the FP attraction is down. I found an excerpt from allears.net about FP+ usage and I believe I read almost the exact same thing on the Disney Parks Blog as well at one point.

"If an experience is not operating or may be unavailable during your FastPass+ arrival window, you will receive an alternative FastPass+ selection. Guests using My Disney Experience to make FastPass+ selections and have opted for messaging will be notified by email that an attraction they selected is not available. You will then see a list of alternate FastPass+ selections to choose from."

It doesn't make sense that you would be able to "save" a FP because the system automatically deletes your FP 15 mins after your scheduled time if it is not redeemed or changed. The only way to allow your MB or card to tap is if a CM was able to manually override the FP system at the attraction to allow you to pass.

A finish line that took 4 years to reach. If Disney wants to spread out construction over 4 years for budgetary reasons and what not, thats one thing. But if they take that much time to build a coaster, they should get it right and keep it right. You cant have a 4 year build and then major issues immediately after its opening. Unacceptable, even for Disneys new low standards. No excuse.

What was even worse was that the people who had waited in line for over an hour when it broke were given nothing more than a bland apology. I overhead someone asking if they could get a fastpass to make up for their lost time, and the CM's working the ride said there was nothing they could do. Total nonsense. I know because I got a paper FP when something similar happened to us on EE just earlier the same week. Everyone who was booted from that line got one, and we also got our floating FP since the ride went down during our window (happened automatically).

I did go to guest services and ask for a pass to use on another day, after explaining that we lost our last 30 minutes of park time and couldn't get to anything else to ride instead because they kicked everyone out of line five minutes before closing. The CM's at guest services were shocked that it wasn't handled at the ride but they took care of it. We got a pass that let us ride the very next day... so it actually worked nicely since I got to skip the queue lol.

Even so, it seemed irresponsible for the CM's working the ride to not have been given those passes on hand, since the ride was having so many issues that week. Seems like the supervisors, or whoever makes those decisions, should have been more prepared.

Ummm I'm not a local....I just planned ahead and was able to ride during soft openings as well (got a FP the day before it officially opened when they became available at 8am on MDE)
