Wow, just got an offer in the mail today...I've had 3X but never 5X the reward dollars...This will go a long way to building up reward dollars for our September trip. This offer is for dining, gas, groceries, and airlines between 7/1 and 9/30!!!.:sohappy:

I just got another 5x as well. I activated it, but I never seem to hit the limits

It's always been $500 a month in groceries, dining, and gas.

In a normal month, thats just about what I spend on those categories.

I would have to go out and spend extra just to get the 5x, which sort of defeats the purpose. I would rather keep 100% of my dollar, than spend it and get 5% back.

Just so you know, they won't actually give you any of the reward dollars until after the promotion has ended, so all the points you have racked up will only show up on your statement after the end of September, so you probably will not be able to use them for your Sept trip.
I did the last promotion, it was for gas for the months of March, April, and May. After the first statement, I called to find out where my rewards were and they told me they would not be awarded until after the promotion. They were there on my statement after May though!!

I've been receiving those 5X rewards postcards for well over a year now (on a quarterly basis). I've racked up over $600 dollars in rewards for my trip to Disney next month! It'll be my first time down in two years, so I plan on buying the 10-day park hopper with no expiration vs. an annual pass. Does that sound like the best option? I'll still have plenty of reward dollars left over for dining, etc. as well.

I have no idea how they actually track and separate the purchases that qualify (i.e. a purchase at Wal-Mart could be all groceries). I was enrolled in it last month and my total jumped almost $50 with that one payment. I don't keep track of what they do and just allow them to give me what they want.
I have also been getting this offer every three months. It started at $250 for me then got bumped to $750 the last two times. I have about 500 points so far.

I wonder if they raised it because they saw you were taking good advantage of it.
Mine has been $250 everytime and I have only once made the cut to get the 5X, so I wonder if they keep it low if they see you aren't really making it each time.

Also received this offer in the mail this past week.

-5x DDRDs w/every eligible dollar spent above $250 on dining, groceries, gas and airlines
-July 1 - September 30, 2009
-The maximum reward accumulation during this promotion is 100 bonus DDRDs
-The bonus rewards will be reflected on your monthly credit card statement 6 to 8 weeks from the month in which the transaction posts to your credit card statement and/or from the time you have enrolled in the program

Hope this helps with some of the questions/comments posted.

Too bad I already purchased all my airlines tickets for my trips in September :(

I have received this offer twice. The first time was a $1000 minimum, and the second time (this April through June) was $750 minimum spent on air, dining, gasoline, and groceries.

The problem I have is that my grocery store doesn't code it sales as grocery. It comes up as OTHER on my statement.

Make sure you check your monthly statements to see what is actually be counted towards the minimum purchases.

I think so because the first time I got it I did not use it much and the minimum stayed the same. I started to use it the second time and they bumped it to $500. I basically use it for everything and just pay it off every month.

Same here. As soon as the offer came in the mail I pulled up my activity online and then called them to ask about it. She looked up the store and said not to worry I should be fine, it shows it as being a grocery store

Gas is also listed as "vehicle expenses" and I made sure that was all right as well.

We will see I guess.

I am sort of in the same boat. I don't spend anywhere near $500/month in those categories...though I do charge more than $500/month. I live in New York so I don't have a car to fill with gas, and I don't cook so I don't spend that much on groceries. I can't even charge that much dining out. I wish they would just eliminate the special categories.

I just received my offer in the mail and the limit was raised to $750. Like I said earlier, I just enroll myself, spend as I usually do and let them add what they want my account.

Congrats!!! We've gotten those before but not in a while. We just got an offer to hook up an auto pay to our telecommunications company for two months for a one time bonus of 25 points.

For a family of four, it's not too hard to rack up gas (we live in Texas and drive everywhere), dining, and grocery purchases. We only use our Disney Visa card for these.

For January trip, over the span of 2.5 years, we paid for our resort room expense on Disney Rewards (the buy 4 get 3 free helped) and a couple hundred to spend in the parks.

We've gotten that deal and others in the past, but never put that much of for it to work for us. When we were renovating our house a few years ago we put everything on my Delta Skymiles card and got a whole lot of free plane tickets out of the deal.....even was able to fly dh to Vegas 1st class for his 30th birthday with those!
