Lets worry about finishing the four existing parks first!

Exactly! AK is, for most, a half-day park right now. Attendence isn't demanding a 5th gate. A new park in the next 5 years would probably be detrimental, rather than beneficial.

I'd rather see MK expanded if geographically possible (and I think it is).

I don't mean just another e-ticket ride. I mean a bridge that will lead you to a whole nother land.

It would be nice to see more rides added on to Ak to justify the money spent going to that "park," but let's face it: Most people, if they only have time to hit one park, will almost always go to MK. It's the flagship and, perhaps barring certain special functions, generates more business. It'd be nice to have a new land accessible to people going to MK to absorb more guests.

Of course, if they did create another land to absorb more guests, they'd just up the capacity of the parks and you might be back at square one anyway. Dang..

I doubt we will see a 5th park anytime in the near future. I think it would be much more probable to see an expansion of MK or AK. Who knows we might have a Villains section at MK or maybe even Narnia at AK if the series of movies is successful enough.

I was going to say that. I think AK definitely needs to grow before a 5th park is introduced.

Well if a 5th Gate is ever going to be introduced at Walt Disney they'll probably wait for like about maybe 2 or 3 more years and maybe something magical will come then.

Mission Ladder: The Park

Ultimate thrill. Climb 300 ft ladder and jump off.

I hope you get Eisner to test it first.

Well actually, Eisner would probably cut the budget and the ladder would be no higher then 6 feet. To bad.

Aw, heck, let's put all the ideas and rumors together: I think the fifth gate should be called "Beastly Coaster Thrillride Villain Classic Attractions Unlimited Budget Kingdom", or "BeCoThrillVillClassAttUnlimBud Kingdom" for short. It should be so big as to have TWO sites - one near the Magic Kingdom, and another near Wide World of Sports. How will you commute between the two sections of the park? Why, Disney will simply expand the monorail, of course.

Attractions will include:
In "IWantMoreThrillRidesLand":
Bald Mountain
Fire Mountain
Indy Jones clone
The world's largest roller coaster

In "IMissMyFavoriteAttractionLand"
20K Under the Sea
Mr. Toad
Alien Encounter (they're going to build two versions - the "before Eisner told them to make it scarier" version and the "after")
If You had Wings
Dreamflight (yes, a separate attraction from "If You Had Wings")
World of Motion

Everyone help come up with ideas for this park!
(Just having some fun here... No offense intended... :))

HAHAHA

I don't have any new ideas to add to this discussion... but I have to tell you... thats one of the funniest things I've ever read! I can't stop laughing!

I know this may sound really really stupid but I'm posting it anyway. You guys must be thinkin don't they have enough parks already?? I say no,they could use just one more. But what would the theme and the park name be???

In Magic Kingdom at Christmas I was talking to one of the guides who said they had planned a fifth park, no details, just that they raised the budget for it, but they would be setting themselves up for a fall apparently
It has a lot to do with vacationers.
People are not willing to spend another day at Disney (I know..they're nuts)
they work out the average stay, the parks, the none park days, universal ect and basically it would mean them chosing one park over another (Animal Kingdom suffers from this still) and therefore..have 4 parks and get X number of people, or spend Billions on a fifth park, and get the same number of people in chosing one park over another.
It makes sense not to right now for them money wise although I LOVE the idea of a darker park!
They have space for another 4 theme parks apparently, not sure how they work that out because a park can be as big or as small as they want it to be, but I guess they know what they are talkin about!

Although t's not all doom and gloom
the budget for the fifth park was split between the remaining four, which means lots of new rides (this funded Everest, Soarin, and the motor show) and also a lot of new upkeep (it's a small world rehab, the soon to be pirates rehab)

So would you prefer 5 ok parks? or the 4 you love getting better and better?
they have the cash, thier choice really.

all this is general talk, it could be 100% rumour but I have heard it from several people and it sounds approximately correct

I think its more accurate to multiply both those numbers by about 5, then we MAY see a new park. It all depends on tourism, if it keeps increasing, and the demand goes back up, then we'll probobly see one. But until then (probobly 10-15 years at best) we won't see another park, and to build another one would be completely foolish when AK, while its an extrememly under-rated park, still needs more to attract more guests.

I say a fifth park is overdue (they build one like every eight years, so construction on one should have started years ago). It makes me really sad thinking that I will have to wait a ridiculously long time for a new park :(

Just because their last 4 parks were built about a decade apart, what does that have to do with the current needs of the resort. Trust me, they don't have some big agenda to have 5 parks or even 7 parks as some have suggested. They may have the room to build that many, but that doesn't mean they have the attendence to back it up, or the plan to do so. Disney execs don't have dates marked on their calander on when they need to have the next park built, nor is it a failure on Disney part for not having the 5th gate built yet.

Even if 911 never happen, I think the reality of the need or non need for a 5th gate would have set in. There are so many parks in Orlando that guest have to chose between which parks they will and will not visit on each vacation. What would be the point in building a park close to a billion dollars and millions to operate each year if they could only come up with less then a third (probably being optimistic too, it is probably closer to half) of the attendence target. Mean while the park would take the guests away from the other parks in the resort, causeing their numbers to come down as well.

Well I also feel that a 5th park would be overkill. Their are way to many things that need to happen in some of the others parks at WDW before a 5th one. This however should not stop us from fantasizing about it. I like the idea of the villain’s theme park. There is a lot that can be done with that one. Also, I like what I have seen of the Tokyo Disney Sea park. Maybe building a Disney Sea park would be nice.

Pixar Land
(or, why-bother-with-consistent-theming-land)
a magical land where giant cloverleafs sit next to an intergalactic transport ship (that can't make up its mind weather its supposed to be a toy or a real spaceship) while human superheroes pose next to anthropomorphic bugs against a giant coral reef background
featuring:
Inredibles' Syndrome Monorail (rethemed WEDway People mover)
Nemo's Subs (rethemed 20k)
Woody's Shoot Out (rethemed Buzz Lightyear with Woody in place of Buzz)
Haunted Scare Factory(rethemed Mansion, but with flat Mike n' Sully cut-outs in place of animatronics)
Bugs of the Carribbean (rethemed PotC but with flat Flik n' Hopper..." " ")
CARS (surprisingly, not a re-themed Speedway, but an Alladin style spinner ride)
"Milkin' It! (the franchise)" A DISNEY-pixar extravaganza! (non-sensical Cynthia Harris designed stage show that somehow tries to cram the different Pixar films into one universe, features all-original terrible songs when all you wanted to hear was "You Got a Friend in Me")

Or no?

Animal Kingdom didn't increase the guest numbers, but rather started cutting into the numbers of the other parks. A fifth park will just make that worst.

I agree...

I'll be the first to say I WANT to see a 5th gate at Disney...but the fact is thats not what WDW needs right now...

AK and The Studios need some more work...Disney should spend that money there....

Right on.
Don't forget Epcot. SSE, WoL, UoE and TLS, not to mention many WS pavillions all could use a good cash infusion. A fifth gate would be great, but not at the expense of the others.

As far as a 5th park (gate, kingdom, swamp, whatever) is concerned, I tend to agree with the speculation that we won't hear anything serious for another 10 years (at least). Far before another park, we'll see possibly another land at MK, more attractions (that will draw guests) at AK, and possibly some expansion to DS.

If a 5th park ever does happen, I don't think we'll see a Villians themed park. Maybe a land, but not a full park. Disney execs learned from IOA that just because you build something for the "grown ups", doesn't mean you'll get a really big success . They'll stick with something that won't scare the kiddies, the traditional family recipe that hasn't failed them yet.

Or maybe we'll see a 5th by 2010. Maybe that's what all the unfinshed resorts rooms are waiting on.
