Ok folks, Lets get this thing going.
Day 1 and 2 . Travel Days.
So Friday 2nd of September is the start of everything.
First up ... Testing.
Yup. got to get the dreaded covid tests done before we can start the hollybob.
The whole process was super easy and very efficient. I had booked individual tests for everyone ,kicking off with mine at 8 am. The results came through quickly and we were all soon cleared to sail and could start to get excited.
We spent the rest of the day finalising everything at home and loading up the car before the ferry at 5:30 pm. It was an overnight sailing via Jersey (see the above video). The cabin was comfortable and before you know it we were arriving in the mainland bright and early at 6:30 am.
First stop was the traditional coffee and M&S. Might have snuck in a piece of banana and chocolate chip loaf.
Then it was the long haul across the country to Dover. No photos here as I was doing most of the driving. The satnav did take us an interesting route closer to Dover somehow thinking that a narrow lane several miles long ,that wasn't much wider than the car, was the best way

. It did provide some interesting views from above the channel tunnel entrance. Among the thing spotted during this "diversion" was a biplane , the obligatory sheep and horses and Donna was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the rare English wild bird ... The ostrich.
When we arrived at our overnight hotel we checked in and went to find where our parking for the week had moved to. For those with keen geographical knowledge it was closer to Folkestone than Dover

.
On the way back McDonald's was acquired as the restaurant by the hotel closed at 3:00 pm due to staffing issues.
Then it was an early night so we were fully rested for embarkation day.
