5 year olds birthday

I'm planning a trip for Jan 2008. This trip will be in part a birthday celebration for my daughter who turns 5. I was thinking it would be nice to take her some where that will make a big deal out of her birthday. So I am wondering what everyone suggests to make a 5 year olds birthday great.

We are planning on staying at AKL and Poly.

Thanks!

I would suggest Chef Mickey's, I have heard it is great for birthdays. Tell them you will be celebrating her birthday when you make ADR. Also a great tip that I learned on this site is that you can get a Birthday button at Guest relations for her to wear.
Hope you have a great trip:wave:

I'd guess any of the character meals would make a fuss, and you can call in advance if you want and arrange a birthday cake, too. What kind of characters does she prefer? Mickey/Minnie/Goofy? Winnie the Pooh? Princesses?

We did a birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's for my friend who was 33 and it was great they came around and did everyone's birthday at once with all the characters in the room. We also did meals at WHispering Canyon and 1900 PF for my nephew's 2nd b-day and they too were really great. Anyplace you choose will be good, just make sure to tell them when making your ADR and you can also call ahead to order a cake if you want.

A friend has his son's 18th birthday celebration at 'Ohana and they made a big fuss, then again it was 10 18 y/o guys. The friend thought he would embarrass his kid with the surprise party, but they all ended up having such a great time (as did everybody witnessing the event). :ROFLOL:

The Birthday Button is not like a regular pin and is not tradeable. Its a special button ( http://www.disneyfrontier.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/disney_world_happy_birthday_button.jpg ) to wear in the parks for that "special day".

As for pin collecting, I think that would be a great age to start. They have many birthday themed ones and favorite characters and rides are always popular.

EDIT: styles of birthday buttons may vary :lookaroun

If you are going to the MK that day:
CRT for b'fast, lunch or dinner.:king:
The Crystal Palace for b'fast, lunch or dinner.:slurp:
Make sure you stop by customer relations to p/u a b-day button!
You can also call WDW & order a b-day cake to be delivered to the restaurant where you will be dining - we did that last summer for our oldest DS's b-day!
