I think the best to ask is your gynecologist (just a freestyle german translation .. hope you know what I mean) :)

First- congrats :sohappy:

Second- You really need to ask your OBGYN if you can do coasters. Who here is qualified to answer that very important question. :veryconfu

Another vote for "ask a pro". Don't rely on "somebody told me....."

All the coasters and simulators have warnings that if you are pregnant you may wish to bypass the attraction.

Congrats on your great news.

Why risk it?

Disney World will still have the roller coasters next year and for many years to come.

The birth of your child will be the greatest event of your lifetime, taking your child to Disney World can be #2.

Take care of yourself and your baby right now and start planning for that wonderful day you will get to see Disney World through your child's eyes.

An internet message board of Disney fans is a much more authoritative source than a medical doctor for this type of question.

Just kidding - go see your doctor. :D

My wife was told by her OB not to ride any coasters / thrill rides while she was pregnant. There are warnings on many of the rides and she didn't ride anything with a warning. We still had a lot of fun since there's so much to do.

The only attraction that she rode (that included the warning) was the safari at DAK. We figured the plane ride had been bumpier than it would be.

I completely agree!Personally I wouldn't risk it, even with a OB/GYN okaying it.

My vote is no. You don't want to do anything that could harm the baby, or anything. There's still plenty for you to do though! Have fun!!

Not old, just vintage.
There are plenty of rides and shows in Disney that pregnant women can go on that aren't roller coasters. Save the big rides for next time. Congrats on the baby! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZSYYYYYYIFUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_2_126.gif' border=0></a>

I just hope you don't find yourself getting too sick while you are there...nothing can put a damper on a Disney vacation like a good healthy bout of morning sickness. :lookaroun

I wouldn't chance it. My wife and I went when she was 6 weeks pregnant with our first. She did Splash Mountain and Kil. Safari in AK. She was worried about it, but fortunately everything was fine. He is now a very handsome, very smart 6 year old who will taking his 8th trip to the world with me in May. (Our 3rd trip for just him and me).

Enjoy everything else, but stay off the coasters. Have a great trip

Only 33 more days til I'm Home!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

PS: Congratulations :brick: (stupid me)

I agree with some of the other posters here--why risk it? You can definitely go back and do the coaster another time.

I went to WDW when I was about 3 months along. My OB/GYN said I could ride whatever I wanted to, but I just didn't feel comfortable doing so.

I would not. We were in Vegas when I was 4 weeks pregnant and I skipped all the roller coasters. Even though I wanted to ride them, I knew they would be there next time and I will enjoy it more not worrying about harming the baby (new baby arrives 4/25/06:sohappy: ) It is truly your decision, though.

Congratulations!

I side with the "why add another worry to your pregnancy" group. I did a few "no-nos" when I was at 4 weeks (because I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 8-10 weeks along; long story.) I still, despite my doctor's assurances to the contrary, wonder if anything I did caused The Son's problems.

Although it feels as if raising your child will last forever, the day will come when you can basically go anywhere and do anything without automatically thinking about your children. And I've been at it for 23 years, with 9 more years to go.

If you are in doubt, why take the chance?
Also, the warning signs for the rides at Disney state not to ride if you are pregnant. They don't say it's OK up to a certain point during the pregnancy. I know they use the signs to cover themselves legally to a degree, but they are there for a reason.

If you really want to I say go for it. I don't think it puts that much stress on people even if you are only 4 weeks preg. I have seen women in the gym working out hard and constantly moving on the olyptical machines for 30 minutes at a time. I would imagine this would put more stress on the baby then a short rollor coaster.
But I would do something simple like Splash mountain or Test Track or something like that. You might even be able to get away with Rockin Roller Coaster cause this ride is pretty smooth but something like Thunder Mountain or Space M I would probably stay away from. HAVE FUN

I think it is very irresponsible of you to post this answer. What if something happens to the baby after she goes on a coaster? Do you really want something like that weighing on your conscience? I know I wouldn't. A ride on an elliptical trainer is very different from the jarring, unnatural motion of a rollercoaster. In the future, be careful about giving someone medical advice, unless you are a licensed physician. You can tell by the other posts on this thread that, wisely, no one wanted to give her a go ahead.

Wow. Not good advice. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and I did a study on roller coasters and the stresses they put on a human body while in college. Roller Coasters are designed to push the human body to a maximum amount of stress without permanently injuring. I guarantee that the G-forces felt on a roller coaster are significanlty higher than those felt on a elliptical machine. While your body has developed, ie your bones are hard, your brain is safely encased in it's skull, a baby has not developed and would be much more likely to suffer injury where an adult would not.

On another note, do you know why Disney puts signs on its thrill attractions for people who are pregnant or have weak hearts? Because if those people miscarry or die while on the attraction, their families will sue Disney. A good piece of advice for anyone is this: if something has a warning, you should probably follow that warning.

If you don't really know what you're talking about and your advice could lead to the loss or significant damage of a life, please keep it to yourself. Sorry if this seems harsh, but you are not just giving advice on what hotel to stay in. A life really could be at stake.

To the pregnant lady, feel free to ask your DOCTOR, but if I were you, I would stear clear of the signs with warnings on them. They are there for a reason.

You beat me to it. I'm glad someone else read that post the same way I did.

Congratulations! I know it really stinks to miss out on fun at WDW because of pregnancy (I had to do it one trip :-\) but your baby is worth it. Definitely call the Dr's office if you don't have an appointment before, but I'm just guessing that the answer will be no rollercoasters. Fortunately there is LOTS more to do! :)

Good luck!
