My brother was a boy scout when he was 7 years old. But here, boy scouts don't have this nationalism, I guess. At least they didn't learn any patriotic songs.

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

I remember the scout oath well. Wonder if I'm still considered morally straight? :lol: I may be morally bent, not too bad though.:lol:

Saw the MK fireworks from the beach at the Poly on the 3rd and from the HUB on the 4th last year and they were great. Did anyone that saw the ones at MGM last year remember if they used the giant inflating mickey to the right of the Chinease Theater? Does anyone know if it will be used this year?

No, inflatable Mickey was only used for Sorcery in the Sky. The last performance of SitS was on June 25, 2005. For the past 2 years, they called the 4th of July show SitS, but it was just the patriotic part. This year it is just called Fourth of July Fireworks. It will have fireworks set to Americana music from films. No remnant of SitS will be part of it.

Yea I heard the last use was to be for a tupperware function at MGM on the 25th. Anyhow, If I hadda just known I would have made my way to the park that evening and watched from outside the gate to catch one last appearance of Mickey.

So, no fireworks at Downtown Disney?:veryconfu
I think we'll be taking a quick trip to WDW on the 4th. We already have a July trip planned but spur of the moments are why I visit once and month..sometimes twice!

Buy a whole bunch of red, white, and blue colored BBQ stuff, put up streamers and flags everywhere and have an outdoor grill around the pool!

I like the idea of having a BBQ...go out and get some sparklers (great for kids) and why not turn it into a Disney Theme 4th. Since you arent close to the Magic...bring the Magic to you. Wear Disney attire..sing Disney Songs..watch your favorite Disney DVD's, get reciepes for Dole Whips and make em'! Have a Magical 4th!

Great ideas!! I'll try to have a BBQ. I'll definetely display my flag (if people didn't kill me on Flag Day, they won't now...:D ), and wear red, white and blue. Since July 4th is not a holiday here :fork: , I'll be working. One more opportunity to show my patriotism on the streets! Disney attire... cool!!! I'll definetely do that!!! And oh... what are "sparklers"???:veryconfu

sparklers=fireworks on a stick (relatively safe, I played with them as a child)

Basic sparklers are about as safe as they get, but I like the ones that are huge and come wrapped in colorful paper and have like 3 different effects they do at they burn.

Sparklers are fun...we always have all the neighborhood kids running around playing with them at the block party on certain holidays. Its very safe though.
