I just find it hard to believe that a corporate sponsor would be that "up to speed" on something as minute as that... And second, that they would care enough about the topic. Don't forget... Siemens is in this thing for a very shrewd business purpose.

Maybe in one of their many meetings Disney mentioned that there was once a song written for the attraction.

Potentially... But if Disney wanted to make that change, they'd easily be able to do so... That's not the kind of change that would incur major cost. It would be more about the principle of the thing to put "tomorrow's child" back in there... And I don't know if that's a focus for Siemens. ?? Who knows.

As I said, it could very well be the case... It's just that to me, common sense says that it wouldn't be that way.

Hell, if Siemens could get them to do away with the wand I'll go buy stock in their company right away.

No kidding. It's like it's screaming at people when they pull in the parking lot "Hey, in case you didn't know... YOU'RE AT EPCOT!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ugh. :brick:

Sorry if this has been asked, But what was "Tommarow's Child"? was it a song on SSE at one time?

"I use a very old camera. Its a Kodak DC3400."

I have that camera. It's a 2 megapixel if it's the same. I got some real good shots over at MK of the castle at night. :)

Agreed... Which is why I made sure to point out I wasn't questioning his reliability. There's just something about that that doesn't seem to make good sense, I guess.

Maybe one of the Siemens reps is a Dinsey fan and remembers that as vividly as some of us...Disney fans are everywhere!

Wow!!! mission space 10 minutes has it really gone down that much in popularity.
M:S wait times can range from anything between 5 minutes to 50. Although most of the time the attraction only seems to have a 5-15 minute wait. The thing about M:S is that a large percentage of guests won't or can't ride the attraction at all. Then the attraction has a pretty good capactiy on top of that.

Also the wait time is not 10 minutes and you are on the ride. That is just to the first of two pre-shows. If there is a 10 minute wait that is really more like 20 once you add in the two pre-shows and time between.

Oh alright thanks but still 20 minutes?!?!?

Any indication on whether the mini-mini golf course would be like the one in Millennium Village? (My favourite part of the 2000 celebration, save for RoE  )

Does SSE still stop throughout the ride, or have they worked on this?
It still does that. However there is nothing wrong with the ride and they can't do anything about that. The reason it stops is because they have to stop the ride to allow handicap guests to board.

I don't mean to question your reliability, so don't take it that way... But something like this seems really unikely to me.

Do you guys think Siemens would really be "up" on the history of SSE and the parks like that? And beyond that, would they want to wind the clock back like that? I loved "tomorrow's child" as much as everyone else... And miss it plenty. But anytime I hear about something like this, I question the validity.

I just find it hard to believe that a corporate sponsor would be that "up to speed" on something as minute as that... And second, that they would care enough about the topic. Don't forget... Siemens is in this thing for a very shrewd business purpose. They're there to advance their brand. They're there to make this work for them, and eventually to make money. They're not there to "bring SSE back to the glory of the early 80's". I just don't see that as something they'd focus on. Their reason for being with Disney is corporate. Not philanthropic.

It makes good sense that they'd spend money on a refurb... Make it look good, get everything working... Put in a new post show... Because if your name is on the front of something, you want it to look right. Even the idea of dropping the wand could make sense, because it's easily seen, and pretty tacky. But beyond that, to me anything beyond that seems like a bit of a stretch in my mind.

I could be wrong, that's just my two cents.

No offense taken. I understand your point; the rumors do sound fairly unlikely. However, one of the reps was, in fact, a big Epcot fan, which is part of the reason that Siemens was so interested in sponsoring SSE.

As far as the song is concerned, "Tomorrow's Child" best summarizes the original purpose of Epcot, and I can understand why Siemens reps would want the song back in the park's flagship icon/attraction: the song would link their company to technological dreams and the "future world [that's] born today." In other words, the song wouldn't be revived for "philanthropy" or to "bring Epcot back to the glory days"; it would come back to blatantly remind us that Siemens makes the technology for the future! If the song does return (and there's no guarantee that it will), I hope that they re-record it. The original version is nice for nostalgia, but the vocals sound like a bad, cheesy, late-70s, let's-all-hold-hands-and-hope-for-a-better-world anthem. (And some of the lead vocal's notes are nearly flat!)<!-- / message -->

EDIT: SSE only stops for handicapped entry. Nothing is wrong with the ride system; the cars just need new shocks!
