See Team Princes already made the perfect shopping district with perfect unity and no flaws whatsoever with Disney’s Animation Kingdom so just port that over to Paris as is in its total perfection
We had so many amazing ideas for that prompt and we somehow used all of them and none of them at the same time lol

Team Princes is gonna crush the competition next year!!!

Another season of Sorcerer's Apprentice? What an intriguing thought...

We're posting this while catching a red-eye flight back to the states - what a crazy 10 days in Tokyo! You can read about it below!

Stanza III Trip Report

For anyone who doesn't know, we're talking about a round from Season 5 of the Sorcerer's Apprentice Competition earlier this year where teams were tasked to revitalize the Downtown Disney type area at Tokyo Disneyland. These are the two projects the two teams did!

Muppets! Do Something with the Muppets!

For today, we are gonna work together to do cool stuff with the muppets! New show? Ride? Land? Store? Restaurant? Instagram wall? Theme park?

Disney doesn't seem super focused on using the Muppets, so let's do it ourselves! (Paging @AceAstro)

Restaurant seems like the best pick, Muppet-Vegan 3D seems to be a nice pun to go with. As a boutique restaurant, it is home to a clone of the Great Moments in American History, though it also has new segments displaying events such as the moon landing and Civil Rights. The front concierge is an animatronic Walter. The entire theme is that Skeeter has inherited this restaurant and is now giving some creative control to Kermit. The restaurant also contains a shop, managed by another animatronic; Yorick! This rarely-seen yet once-popular devourer now resents his position at the shop and envies the customers.

The Great Muppet Movie Ride fills a new Hollywood Tower with a multi-story omnimover. The queue tells the tale of how Kermit managed to get off his log and it not the path of fame and delight, and introduces you to your rustic vehicles. Get on board and we begin an ascent through the set of Davy Crockett...

Clifford now has his camp all set up, and prepares for the hard week ahead of him, as King of the Wild Frontier. Next, it’s a “True Life Adventure” in the wilderness, with little Muppet lemmings doing a swan dive as the Beautiful Day Monster scares the pants off of them... literally. Scenes from Muppet Treasure Island then begin, suddenly changing into Treasure Planet.

“Summer Magic” with uncle Kermit is in the air in the next room. The room glows with fireflies.

Also, because they were alive at the time and are now extinct, passenger pigeons, carolina parakeets, Heath hen, and Ivory-billed woodpecker.
There are actually Carolina parakeets in the game.

From @Disney Dad 3000 's The Great Movie Ride comp in 2017 - this was one of my favorite projects!

Scene 2: That's Amore

Prompt Guidelines
(1) Create a new WDW Dining Experience to be located in a park setting
(2) This can be table or quick service, whatever you feel is the best fit (or a blend of the two)
(3) Your restaurant will need to incorporate any existing attraction from MK/HS into the restaurant itself somehow, along the lines of La Hacienda de San Angel at Epcot and the Blue Bayou at Disneyland where the ride actually is joined to them. Obviously this rules something like Big Thunder Mountain out because who wants a train whizzing past them while they cut their steak or slurp their shake, but I think there are a number of attractions small and large that could be accommodated.

The Muppet Show (1976-1981) was an iconic show that served as the primary inspiration behind Muppet*Vision 3D in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Being the last project (or one of the last projects) that Jim Henson himself worked on, the show is a classic example of the Muppet style of humor and shenanigans.

With Star Wars Land additions in Disney's Hollywood Studios and what we know from insiders and information at hand in 2017, the inclusion of Star Wars Land will re-route, and enclose Muppets Courtyard. In addition, the opening of Pizzerizzo (replacing Pizza Planet) and Gonzo's Royal Flush restrooms, it offers us an opportunity to completely re-vitalize the Muppets mini-land with new entertainment and a cohesive theme.

Current Plans for the Streets of America and Muppets Courtyard refurbishments in conjunction with the Star Wars Land addition
(drawn by wdwmagic member marni1971)

Using the plans as a realistic backdrop to the project, we wanted an extension of Muppet*Vision 3D that would 'plus' the feeling of being on The Muppet Show. How to bring the characters to life in a way that was more than just a 3D show. An interactive dining experience, connected to the exit of Muppet*Vision, will extend the fun entertainment from the 3D screen into reality, as you can now dine at....

Henson's Revue
HENSON_S_REVUE_LOGO.png

Replacing Mama Melrose's Restaurante Italiano will be Henson's Revue, named after the creator of the Muppets (Jim Henson) and also named to depict the eclectic entertainment offerings within the dining experience! With music, games, and some surprises, this will definitely be a dining option for the whole family.

Theme
The theme of Henson's Revue is associated and inspired by the 1970s 'The Muppet Show'. During your dining experience, the Muppets will be performing a series of skits and musical numbers, many of which guests will be able to come down to the dance floor and interacting with.

The music is a vital to the theme theme of not only Henson's Revue, but also the surrounding area music, as the Courtyard will have an 'Awesome Mixtape' of 70s hits playing outside. As you sit on one of the new benches in the shade, marveling at the rainbow connection pavements embedded in the ground below your feet, you'll be able to sit back and relax to music from Elton John, Billy Joel, and many more who were all featured on The Muppet Show.

Imagineering Team Note:
2364611904414549006%253Faccount_id%253D9

As an additional theme consideration, the imagineering team of Marvel Studios traveled to Muppet Courtyard for some hands-on research for our new expansion. In our findings, the 70s theme made even more sense given not only the ties to the Muppets, but also the park as a whole.

Now, Disney's Hollywood Studios has the 50s Prime Time Cafe (50s), the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (60s) and Henson's Revue (70s).

Each decade from the 50s-70s is now represented with its own restaurant; a unique finding in a currently progressing park!

Connection to Muppet*Vision
4540009493412968264%253Faccount_id%253D9

There will be two ways to access Henson's Revue. Coming out of the original exit of Muppet*Vision on the back side of the map above, there will now be an expansion of the former Mama Melrose building to the theater. Guests will now exit the theater into a play area setting and gift shop (more details on those to come) before arriving at the check in desk for Henson's Revue. Guests can also enter via Muppets Courtyard proper.

Henson's Revue Interior Layout
7583689197960188797%253Faccount_id%253D9

In a more detailed image of the description above, guests have two ways to enter into the restaurant, and both ways eventually bring them into a 2-floor atrium arrangement, with seating on both levels.

The interior of Mama Melrose was completely gutted and slightly expanded in order to accommodate for these changes.

On an angle parallel to most of the tables is the main stage. It is here where Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem will crank out some classic tunes, or Animal will rock out to 'Born to be Wild', or basically anything could happen!

In front of the stage and backstage areas for props and cast members is the main dance floor for guests, and tiered seating on the first floor brings you through the long and circular tables that can seat anywhere from a family of 2-16 guests.

On the second level is balcony seating which runs around the perimeter of the restaurant and offers a birds-eye view of the chaos the Muppets have cooked up.

In addition to being physically connected to Muppet*Vision, there will also be a story connection to the 3D show as well. On a screen behind the stage, Kermit will be seen traveling back and forth with Fozzie, attempting to host both the show and the dinner entertainment as clearly his comrades can't do either properly. References to what is going on in the show will also be heard at these times.

For instance, when Kermit introduces Miss Piggy in the show, he will then seemingly run over to Henson's Revue to check on the progress, and then when Miss Piggy's number is interrupted, he will get word and have to race back periodically.

'The Show'
Show times will be held at 5pm, 6:30pm, 8pm, and 9pm and last for 35 minutes each.

During the show, kids and their families will be allowed to come down to the dance floor to sing and dance along with the Muppets. The show will be a hybrid of the Country Bear Jamboree combined with elements of Hoop Dee Doo and the German Biergarten.

Each show will be different than the last, and throughout the 35 min event, a variety of things can happen including:

- Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem will come out on stage to play some of the 1970s playlist established in the area music, as well as some Muppet Show classics such as 'Cheesecake'

- Kermit checking on the restaurant running in from Muppet*Vision

- Statler and Waldorf in the top corner of the restaurant making snide remarks about the food.

Statler: So how's your food?
Waldorf: Undercooked
Statler: You should ask them to cook it more
Waldorf: I don't want that
Statler: Why?
Waldorf: Because then we have to stay here longer
Together: Ho-ho-ho

- Gonzo and Camilla the Chicken attempt to sing 'I'm Going to Go Back There Someday' from the Muppet Movie but get interrupted by a power outage via an experiment in Muppet*Vision

- Each show ends with the cast of the Muppets singing one of the smash hit songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody to finish out the dinner show.

For example:
5pm show ends with Stayin' Alive
6:30pm show ends with Jungle Boogie
8pm show ends with Born to Be Wild
9pm show ends with Bohemian Rhapsody

- Each dinner show will have different events and songs throughout, so no show will be the same for the guests.

Muppet Mobile Order
While Dinner is the main event, some guests just enjoy having a sundae or a quick service serving of menu items at Henson's Revue. A small quick service window will be available at the entrance and guests can take advantage of Disney's Mobile Order System.

Simply log on to your MyDisneyExperience App, order your food, and then as a special enhancement, you will be sent a video of the Swedish Chef preparing your meal, similar to the turtle soup sketch.

--Muppet Play Area Description--
Connected to the restaurant as described before, is a play area dedicated to the Muppets. While waiting for your table inside Henson's Revue, or after seeing Muppet*Vision, or just as a break from the heat, come inside this air-conditioned play area with plenty of seats and activities to enjoy.

- Scooter's Backstage playset features an indoor jungle gym similar to Dumbo's queue and the exit to Mission:Space for small kids to play on.
- In the back corner is a 70s Arcade for kids and kids at heart to play with, featuring old games such as Pacman with a Muppet twist.
- Occasionally throughout the day, the Muppet Mobile Lab might perform a show indoors for all to see.

Gonzo's Carousel of Chickens
B-Ticket

7101482167427373402%253Faccount_id%253D9

While Henson's Revue provides a much needed table service option and further expands the Muppets Mini-Land by removing a theme that didn't fit in the area, with Star Wars Land there needs to be more capacity in the surrounding area or else the park will simply be long waits everywhere.

In an attempt to quell this and also add a bit more depth to the Muppets Mini-Land and connections to the 1970s Muppet Shows, Gonzo's Carousel of Chickens will be a small B-Ticket carousel in the center of the courtyard similar to the carousel in many Magic Kingdoms. The goal of this is to hopefully offer a venue for slightly more capacity and things to do while either waiting for your Henson's Revue or looking for a quaint location to relax and unwind.

Conclusion
Overall, Henson's Revue and the connectivity with the newly improved Muppet Courtyard and extension of Muppet*Vision, will be a well-received addition to Disney's Hollywood Studios, offering the park some needed capacity and an extra dose of The Muppets!

On behalf of the cast of Marvel Studios, thank you for reading our presentation!

MuppetVision 3D will be getting more variety with their show. These will be new storylines; such as the star of the event going “missing”; as well as new comedy and musical sketches. I would also add in seasonal overlays for summertime, Halloween, and Christmas.

Creating a new small land in Animal Kingdom, reviving the Camp Mickey-Minnie concept, but better, now called Camp Kermit or Camp Muppets, set around Kermit's swamp. The main attraction is an amphitheatre (or an amphibi-theatre), based around an animatronic show or an actually puppet show where Kermit entertains guests on a log in the middle of the swamp. Naturally, the other Muppets cause anarchy, as do Kermit's many, many relatives. But, it all ends with a rendition of the Rainbow Connection.

I always thought the concept of Camp Minnie Mickey was really good, but never utilized well. This sounds like a great new take on it!

Marvel Land!

For today, we are gonna work together to come up with ideas for our own take on a Marvel Land! Do we keep the same basic concept as Avengers Campus? Start from scratch? Base it ALL on Howard the Duck?
Oooh I love this one. if we’re using DCA then I think we should start from scratch.

I would remember tower of terror to something with doctor strange because I think you could use some cool architectural details which wouldn’t mess with sightlines in the rest of the park.
Also maybe guardians of the galaxy clone of rockin rollercoaster?

From the few pieces of concept art I'm not too keen on the design of Avengers Campus, maybe it also has to do with the fact that Marvel isn't like Star Wars where the environment is part what makes it special. Much of it takes place in real world settings in the present day, but for the few films that don't - I'd try to build a focused land or attraction on those. Like Wakanda or 1940s Brooklyn for a Captain America mini-land. Or Sakaar which similar to Batuu, could be a galactic stopping ground where all of the cosmic Marvel characters could show up and not just Thor.

Whatever theme we do, there's one Avenger who I rarely see getting love with their own ride in these prompts. I see a lot of Iron Man, Black Panther, Guardians, Cap, etc. but rarely if ever do I see Ant-Man showing up, and that's just a crime.

Ant-Man has so many possibilities with his power for an attraction. We could do a motion simulator ala Body Wars, something more akin to Spider-Man at IOA, or even something brand new. I think we could follow Scott Lang on some sort of heist mission where we the riders take part in the mission to steal something from the villains.

I mean, after all, who doesn't love participating in a good heist story...

SAKAAR

An expansion to Disney's Hollywood Studios!

SakaarMap.png

With Avengers Campus coming to Anaheim, Paris, and Hong Kong, I think Disney World deserves something similar. The problem is Universal. The agreement states Disney cannot feature any Marvel characters already used by Universal in their comic book land, as well as any characters often in association with them. The presence of Captain America single-handily rules out Iron Man, Ant Man, and even Thor.

But what it does allow is lesser-known Marvel characters: hence the inclusion of Guardians of the Galaxy in EPCOT. So what characters from the MCU are lesser-known but deserve a land nonetheless? And there's really only one answer.

Reading Music

Entering into Saakar, we find the former Echo Lake now home to the corpse of a giant space slug. The lake is surrounded by pink trees. Echo Lake is usually silent, but randomly its fountains can fire off, during which a projector reveals the giant face of Grandmaster to welcome guests to Saakar.

1575765110755.png

Citizens of Earth, welcome to my planet. There are lots to do. Come watch my Contest of Champions Arena, or train to be a champion yourself. Or partake in a citizens with jobs revolt. Just make sure not to step over the Space Slug above me. We're still not sure if it's dead or sleeping.

Around Saakar are many shops where you can buy all sorts of wacky apparel. I'm not gonna get too into detail with these here. Let's focus on the attractions.

Contest of Champions
Replacing the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular is a new stunt show themed around the Contest of Champions. A variety of alien beings partake in the duel. At the start of the show, the audience is split into two halves, and each side is responsible for cheering on their "champion". There are six champions and three duels, with the winners of the first two competing in the finale. Who will win?

The Contest of Champions is the large gray building on the map.

Grandmaster's Tower
A themed dining experience in the Grandmaster's personal quarters. While dining, hear an AA band, one of which represents Grandmaster, jamming electronica music. Should it be your birthday, and you'll get a complimentary cake and singing of "It's my Birthday"!

The Grandmaster's Tower is the long blue building at the top of the map.

Champions in Training Show
Replacing the Jedi Training Show, the Champions in Training Show gets children involved, teaching them how to fight and eventually putting them up against some skilled gladiators. It's in the same location as before, marked by its darker yellow square.

Korg and Meik: Revolution!
Star Tours will be moved to Galaxy's Edge, and the old space will become a traditional dark ride themed to Korg and Meik's "revolution" against Sakaar. Will they escape the clutches of the Grandmaster?

Korg and Meik's is the long cyan building at the top of the map.

Universal had a fine idea of basing the land on the comics to a T, making it feel like one stepped into a comic. I’d shoot for Early Marvel (Sub-Mariner, Original Human Torch, etc) as the theme of this land. Probably up to Walt’s death at latest. Call it “Print Plaza.”

Stopping at the nice diner, sometimes frequented by the civilian identities of these vintage heroes, you can then take a turn onto “Voyage of the Invaders”, a submarine thrill ride. This tells the tale of the initial conflict against the Red Skull, as a hidden enemy lurks in the shadows. Notably, there are scenes where your submarine is “falling” down drops.
