SAKAAR

An expansion to Disney's Hollywood Studios!

View attachment 431415

With Avengers Campus coming to Anaheim, Paris, and Hong Kong, I think Disney World deserves something similar. The problem is Universal. The agreement states Disney cannot feature any Marvel characters already used by Universal in their comic book land, as well as any characters often in association with them. The presence of Captain America single-handily rules out Iron Man, Ant Man, and even Thor.

But what it does allow is lesser-known Marvel characters: hence the inclusion of Guardians of the Galaxy in EPCOT. So what characters from the MCU are lesser-known but deserve a land nonetheless? And there's really only one answer.

Entering into Saakar, we find the former Echo Lake now home to the corpse of a giant space slug. The lake is surrounded by pink trees. Echo Lake is usually silent, but randomly its fountains can fire off, during which a projector reveals the giant face of Grandmaster to welcome guests to Saakar.

Citizens of Earth, welcome to my planet. There are lots to do. Come watch my Contest of Champions Arena, or train to be a champion yourself. Or partake in a citizens with jobs revolt. Just make sure not to step over the Space Slug above me. We're still not sure if it's dead or sleeping.

Around Saakar are many shops where you can buy all sorts of wacky apparel. I'm not gonna get too into detail with these here. Let's focus on the attractions.

Contest of Champions
Replacing the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular is a new stunt show themed around the Contest of Champions. A variety of alien beings partake in the duel. At the start of the show, the audience is split into two halves, and each side is responsible for cheering on their "champion". There are six champions and three duels, with the winners of the first two competing in the finale. Who will win?

The Contest of Champions is the large gray building on the map.

Grandmaster's Tower
A themed dining experience in the Grandmaster's personal quarters. While dining, hear an AA band, one of which represents Grandmaster, jamming electronica music. Should it be your birthday, and you'll get a complimentary cake and singing of "It's my Birthday"!

The Grandmaster's Tower is the long blue building at the top of the map.

Champions in Training Show
Replacing the Jedi Training Show, the Champions in Training Show gets children involved, teaching them how to fight and eventually putting them up against some skilled gladiators. It's in the same location as before, marked by its darker yellow square.

Korg and Meik: Revolution!
Star Tours will be moved to Galaxy's Edge, and the old space will become a traditional dark ride themed to Korg and Meik's "revolution" against Sakaar. Will they escape the clutches of the Grandmaster?

Korg and Meik's is the long cyan building at the top of the map.
Did you just make all this today? That's amazing!!!

Transportation Day

So I figured I’d get the ball rolling on this one today, so today is Day 8 and we’re just over 1 week in with solid participation daily. So, without further ado, it’s transportation day.

Transportation Day! Update TTC! Plus, expand Monorail/skyliner and add new transportation options! Anything transportation you can think!

It's a brief one but I'd add some type of transportation from Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge to Africa in DAK as a second entrance to the park. I like resorts that have a unique convenient transportation option to at least one park, for example you can walk from the Contemporary to MK, or the monorail to Epcot. Boardwalk you can walk/boat to Epcot and DHS (now the skyliner too). Even Port Orleans has a boat option to Disney Springs.

DAKL is the only deluxe resort where you have to take a bus to every park - maybe some sort of safari type vehicle that'll take you through a back road to Africa would fit.

In a blue sky world I would love a monorail expansion to Coronado, DAK, and DAKL - with the skyline now connecting the Epcot/DHS area, a 4th monorail line to DAK would really put it on the map and have it be more of a destination than it already is

Simple; the revamped monorail would add a stop for DCA.

Well, for Skyliner, I’d add some more gondolas, because some of them (such as The Haunted Mansion) would be removed and transferred for expansions to DAK and MK, where appropriate;

New Gondolas, for Epcot;
* Journey Into Imagination
* Ratatouille
* Phineas and Ferb
* Coco
* The Three Caballeros

New Gondolas, for DHS;
* Kingdom Hearts
* Muppets
* Schoolhouse Rock
* The Nightmare Before Christmas

The new stations would also receive their own theming.

I also agree about DAK getting a special transportation, similar to how MK has walking, boats, monorail, etc.

The safari vehicle would work. Perhaps even giving you a behind the scenes look?

Thanks for getting the ball rolling!

Yep! The map about an hour, the write up 15 mins. Efficient!
Very Impressive!

Monorails that aren't falling apart!
That would be a great start lol

@S.P.E.W I remember you mentioning you had some ideas for the TTC, right?

I'd love to see some really pretty parking garages (Maybe with some Mary Blair inspired murals and art on the outside, almost like the Small World facade at DL). That could allow the parking lot space to be used for an expanded TTC. Including a station for a third main transportation option to get to/from MK.

The rest of the parking lot space could be used for a new Monorail Resort! Or perhaps a water park? Maybe a boutique role play resort like the Star Wars one. IDK

What if they redid the employee parking area in between Africa and Pandora? It isn't a ton of space, but it would be enough for a new animal care facility to replace Rafiki's as well as a train station. Reuse as much as possible from the Planet Watch train line to set up a train route between AKL and AK.

Then you have a new attraction there with the animal care facility (It can be updated to be more modern and entertaining than Planet Watch while still being educational. Plus, it doesn't require the same time commitment if you don't need the train ride to reach it from the park.

Plus, you'd have a relatively cheap to implement train route connecting AKL and AK

PLUS, a big new expansion pad between Africa and Asia!

Ticket and Transportation Center
There is no need to say how the TTC compared to other areas around the resort because nothing says Disney like a concrete jungle. That is why the TTC will be replaced with. I believe a half and half from our dear friend DisneyManOne's recent versions of his revamped TTC; Disney Square; is what the main infrastructure needs.

Disney Square

In my honest opinion, the Transportation & Ticket Center is severely outdated and really isn't all that warm and inviting. It's just another boring concrete jungle that gets you from one place to another. Because of this, I say we give the TTC a little TLC. And with this upgrade comes a new name.

By land, sea, or air - not forgetting a genuine, bona fide, electrified, six-car Monorail - the main hub of Walt Disney World is the resort’s heart of transportation and travel: Disney Square. The air is filled with wonderful, atmospheric music, all Disney standards and classics orchestrated into charming and enticing instrumentals. Lush gardens, thundering waterfalls, tall pines, and a magnificent fountain set an inspired threshold to the Magic Kingdom, just across the Seven Seas Lagoon. At the heart of the Square, a bronze statue of Sorcerer Mickey conducts the colored waters of the Fantasia Fountain, an ornate viewpoint, with its marching broomsticks and jumping fountains. Surrounding the fountain are bronze statues of some other beloved Disney characters: Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Snow White, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Simba and Rapunzel. In front of this fountain is a stylized circular flowerbed; with the initials "WDW" written in white flowers; on a field of flowers shaded in the four official colors of Walt Disney World: lavender, lagoon blue, mint green and pumpkin orange.

Walt Disney World should be all about immersing guests in a world of magic; and concrete jungles just aren't magical. As such, Disney Square immerses guests in a natural oasis of beauty and wonder. The ticket booths are given the "Main Street" treatment, as seen in the picture above. In fact, you could say that about most of the other buildings: the restrooms, the ATM stations, every building is re-themed to look as thought it was part of "Main Street": natural and beautiful. If the Polynesian represents Adventureland; the Wilderness Lodge represents Frontierland; the Grand Floridian represents Fantasyland; and the Contemporary represents Tomorrowland; then Disney Square represents Main Street, U.S.A.

Everything about Disney Square is natural and beautiful. The ferry station is re-themed as a more fanciful, 19th-century glass boat station; while the ferries themselves are re-themed as resplendent riverboats. The bus station is turned into a charming Art-Deco station.

And finally, we have the big gun: the Monorail Station. Standing tall over this natural world of wonder is the new Monorail Station: the epitome of high-class. I'd design this station along the same lines as that of Paris' Disneyland Hotel...

Disney Square

westcot2_plazaillustrative.jpg

Our adventure begins amidst the color and excitement of Disney Square, the heart of the Walt Disney World Resort. Formerly known as the Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney Square is an accessible, spectacular port of transportation and travel, the air is filled with wonderful atmospheric music of the Disney Canon. Lush gardens, fountains and trees set an inspired threshold to the exciting worlds of make-believe that lie just beyond its borders.

disneyland-main-entrance.jpg

Here in this square, beauty is the thing that is stressed the most. Almost every remnant of the original, outdated Transportation and Ticket Center has been demolished; the sole survivors being the Monorail Station, the Bus and Taxi area, the Ferryboat Landing, and the Parking Center. The current crop of ticket booths have been demolished in favor of a new style, similar to the ticket booths found at Disneyland's Main Gate. The canopies for these booths, while still keeping the Disneyland style, will be much larger, and feature old-timey fans whirring over guests' heads, to help alleviate the hot Florida heat. Anyways, here at these ticket booths, you can purchase tickets or Annual Passes. There's even a special will call booth for those who purchased reserved tickets.

Mickey's Gift Station has been removed, and turned into Disney Square Imports, a gift shop selling all matter of merchandise and necessities. If you forgot to bring something with you, or if you'd like to pick up a last-minute gift for a loved one, this is the place to do it! Disney Square Imports is designed and decorated with crates and suitcases--the latest "imports" to arrive. In this circular gift shop, the walls are decorated with exotic locales as seen in the Disney movies, done similarly to the artwork at the World of Disney store in Disneyland Paris. Disney Square Imports also serves as the home of Lost & Found, and there are ATMs found just outside. Furthermore, Bus & Taxi Pick-Up can be found just a few feet away, where it's always been ever since the days of the TTC.

glow-in-the-dark-driveway-550x377-jpg.75950

The western half of the complex is mainly comprised of the Gardens of Magic, a beautiful garden filled to the brim with gorgeous landscaping and vegetation and features many different Disney character topiaries and hidden "Easter eggs" that guests can enjoy finding. At night, the gardens transform as they glow with the recently patented bio-luminescent technology, making the landscaping, vegetation and pathways glow with a magical vibe. Along the banks of the Seven Seas Lagoon near these Gardens is the Ferryboat Landing, offering ferry and water taxi rides to the entrance of the Magic Kingdom.

Also found here, the old Lost & Found building has been removed and replaced with the Village Market, a restaurant/bistro that usually opens about an hour and a half prior to park openings. This is a good place to go if you want to get breakfast in before you head to one of our parks for a day of fun. Coffee, pastries, eggs and bacon are on the list; and during the day, salads, fruit, sandwiches and desserts are provided for lunch and dinner. The Market also features an outdoor eating garden, offering dramatic views of the Seven Seas Lagoon.

The parking lots become parking structures; still being themed to Heroes and Villains but with each level being dedicated to a specific character; sort of like Disneyland's parking structure and how their levels are based on characters and movies. The parking structures won't be basic however as they will have

Get new monorail. There is no reason why a billion dollar company that receives 52 million annually would not be able to replace outdated infrastructure and equipment. The Mark 8s here have the classic WDW monorail design but the modern prowess that Disneyland's Mark 7s have.

Walt Disney World Transportation Enhancements and Upgrades

Monorail Upgrades

The current fleet of Mk VI monorails is deteriorating, resorting to shorter and shorter operating hours due to their old age and unreliability.

SvjJWYf.jpg

These issues will be solved with an all new fleet of Mk VIII monorails, styled after Disneyland’s Mk VIIs, but built to fit Walt Disney World’s existing beams, buildings and platform structures, with a marginally higher capacity and longer operating hours so that everyone can experience them.

lSM66m4.png

A whole fleet of twelve will be introduced using the same colors as the current fleet, and all will be six cars long, with a wrap around sunroof on each car, connecting the two side windows with a smooth, circular curve of glass.

The first and last cars will have the pilot’s cabins, along with a passenger compartment; the second and fifth cars will be open and spacious to accommodate wheelchairs and strollers more easily, with benches on each end of the cabin, and on the side walls.

Finally, the two middle cars will adopt a similar style to the current monorails, split into two compartments, each containing two facing benches and enough room for more passengers to stand.

RFxOFQC.png

Transportation Queue Enhancements and New App

Along with adding music and misty fans to the waiting lines, our team has developed an upgrade to the MDE experience app.

Guests will now be able to see where the bus is in regards to their location and will be able to gauge whether or not they have time to make it to the stop.

In addition, not only will the app take the guest party's reservations (e.g. previously made restaurant reservations and fast passes) and notify them of the appropriate time to leave without missing their time, the app will have a special trivia game designed for waiting times for transportation.

For those without a smart phone, the transportation line will have additional trivia/do-you-know signs about the parks/hotels that the guests are travelling to.
And of course, there would new monorails with colors; including the return of Monorail Purple and Pink. As for monorail expansions, I would use Sam's idea from Simple Challenge since he is a major in history and Landscape Architecture
I have a rough map of how I envision an expanded monorail system. Combined with this map is a general application of my "region" idea:

Note: Most, Americans aren't familiar with large mass-transit systems, as a result we're used to all forms of transit linking together in some kind of loop. In the case of WDW, this perception isn't helped by the fact the current monorail line does loop together. With that said, most major transit systems are really just a series of separate 'lines' that stretch to a central hub or station. I've adopted this model for the map above:
  1. Red Line: Connects Epcot to the Ticket and Transporation Center (North Station, MK, Grand Flo, Poly, and Contemporary
  2. Blue Line: Connects Epcot to its resorts, DHS, Coronado Springs, Blizzard Beach, and All-Star
  3. Yellow Line: Connects Epcot to Caribbean, Pop Century/Art of Animation, and ESPN WWoS
  4. Purple Line: Connects Epcot to Port Orleans, Key West, Disney Springs, and Saratoga Springs
  5. Green Line: Connects the Ticket and Transporation Center to Shades of Green, DAK, and DAK Lodge
Skyliner
The most common ideas for an expansion involve cover all Star Resorts, Blizzard Beach, Coronado Springs, Animal Kingdom, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney Springs. My idea for an extended route going to AK is Hollywood Studios-CS-AK-AKL, whilst to get to DS you go from Caribbean Beach-TL-DS. And there will be more gondolas with characters, attractions, and hues that weren't there when it first opened.

More Muppets! Tv/Movie Time!

For today, we are gonna work together to come up with a plan for the Muppets for film and/or television! Possibly based around a reboot of Tales from Muppetland (a series of specials where the Muppets acted out famous fairytales), but don't feel limited! Last time focused on theme parks, now it's time for everything else the Muppets could be doing!

Kermit: Prince of Denmark becomes a reality in a new Disney+ series/film.

Kermit has been having re-occurring dreams of being the prince of Denmark long ago, rejecting the advances of a mermaid and leading to her death, and a chain of misery and suffering among many other beings. He visits the “shrink” (his old friend Yorick), who brings him into method acting with a good bite to the head.

Method acting as a flight attendant, he ends up in Denmark, where he feels like he must make amends for what the mysterious prince of his nightmares has done. Unfortunately, said mysterious prince has a descendant... Constantine! Gonzo and Rizzo also came along, and Constantine has recruited Four Heavenly Kings to impede Kermit; Beautiful Day Monster, Bobo, Miss Poogy, and Dr. Phil Van Neuter.

Will Kermit be able to make up for his nightmares?

Muppets historic havoc would be a retelling of different historic eras of course performed my the muppets gang though the show would be directed as educational given the circumstances & the general tone of the muppets it would have more mature moments & jokes. The show would have a 30 minute runtime at least & a hour long runtime at most depending on how in-depth it would go on the era. So in summary muppets historic havoc would be a retelling of the good & bad of history by everyone’s favorite Hollywood crew.

Retheme Star Tours for both Coasts!

For today, we are gonna work together to come up with ideas to replace Star Tours!

In Disneyland, Galaxy's Edge has made Star Tours redundant. So, what new theme could be used for a simulator in Tomorrowland? Or should the simulators be scrapped in favor of a completely new use of that space?

In Hollywood Studios, Galaxy's Edge has also made this Star Tours redundant. So, what new theme could be used for a simulator in the Echo Lake/Grand Avenue area? Or should the simulators be scrapped in favor of a completely new use of that space?

I don’t find Star Tours redundant, as it covers aspects of the IP that Galaxy’s Edge in its comparatively limited scope does not. I would move Star Tours into Galaxy’s Edge itself. The empty space left behind would be used in Tommorowland as part of the proper L&S ride to come, while the DHS version would become a Kingdom Hearts simulator ride. Star Wars would only be one of many Disney worlds riders could visit, alongside stuff like The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

BRING BACK BODY WARS!!! Honestly, I believe Disneyland's should go back into the medical/science direction with something like a reboot of body wars. It's a great use of the space and fits the original Disneyland image of Tomorrowland.

As for Hollywood Studios.. I am honestly not sure.
