Retheme Star Tours for both Coasts!

For today, we are gonna work together to come up with ideas to replace Star Tours!

In Disneyland, Galaxy's Edge has made Star Tours redundant. So, what new theme could be used for a simulator in Tomorrowland? Or should the simulators be scrapped in favor of a completely new use of that space?

In Hollywood Studios, Galaxy's Edge has also made this Star Tours redundant. So, what new theme could be used for a simulator in the Echo Lake/Grand Avenue area? Or should the simulators be scrapped in favor of a completely new use of that space?

In Studios, I say scrap the simulator and also Backlot Express and use the area to put a new version of the Indiana Jones Adventure. Not an exact port, but something similar.

In the same vein, I’d close down the Indy stunt show and replace that with an Indiana Jones mine coaster like was once proposed by imagineers.

Finally, somewhere in between I’d add in a little shop and a counter service version of The Raven, the bar Marion owns in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Basically, give us an Indiana Jones miniland you absolute cowards.

As for DL, I say just tear all of Tomorrowland down and start from scratch. Star Tours is the least of its issues

I'd leave Star Tours alone in DHS as it's really the home to the original and prequel Star Wars characters given that Batuu is focused on the sequel trilogy. Maybe if over time, the hotel features those characters, or if they become more integrated with Batuu, then it can close, but for now I'd prefer it to stay open.

On the West Coast however, I never liked its location in tomorrowland (the tagline is "a long time ago") so whatever the new theme of Tomorrowland becomes, a simulator could fit. The building used to house a dark ride too so that's also a possibility!

My opinions are like most. I like Star Tours but think they should both be moved to ends of their respective lands. Perhaps Muppet Studios could be expanded with a full ride in that spot? There’s currently only the show in the land, and I’m getting scared it will be consumed by SW.

Tomorrowland should be easier, just an optimistic ride about the future, but that seems unlikely with Disney track record. So to try and fit in an IP, a WALLE ride would work well.

I don’t find Star Tours redundant, as it covers aspects of the IP that Galaxy’s Edge in its comparatively limited scope does not. I would move Star Tours into Galaxy’s Edge itself. The empty space left behind would be used in Tommorowland as part of the proper L&S ride to come, while the DHS version would become a Kingdom Hearts simulator ride. Star Wars would only be one of many Disney worlds riders could visit, alongside stuff like The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
"Redundant" May not be the right word. I think of it as a really similar situation to Buzz in WDW Tomorrowland with Toy Story Land in Studios. They have distinct enough themes and settings that it isn't really an issue, but there's a "home" for Toy Story now with a shooter ride as an anchor attraction, so the old Toy Story shooter ride seems expendable. Galaxy's Edge has a new Star War Simulator, so I don't think losing the old Star Wars simulator that is outside of the new home for Star Wars stuff would be a big loss. Though I do still love Star Tours, so I'm glad Disney isn't in a rush to replace them.

BRING BACK BODY WARS!!! Honestly, I believe Disneyland's should go back into the medical/science direction with something like a reboot of body wars. It's a great use of the space and fits the original Disneyland image of Tomorrowland.

As for Hollywood Studios.. I am honestly not sure.
With Galaxy's Edge filling the "Sci-fi Adventure" niche for Disneyland, their Tomorrowland should really go back to its Proto-Epcot roots. A new Body Wars would be a great fit!

Kingdom Hearts would be a great fit for the ride system! I don't know how well it fits into Studios, but I could totally see Sora as the new pilot taking guests on adventures in the Gummi Ship to fight Heartless across Disney worlds!

For Disneyland, turn it into a Big Hero 6 simulator, with Baymax trying to give his own take on a tour of San Fransokyo, with the guests flying around in a new form of transport, but mayhem ensues as the team have to fight a new badguy.

As for DHS, change Star Tours entirely into an Indiana Jones Adventure attraction!

Because Studios has stage plays, movies, TV... well, not video games yet. It needs video games in there. They’ve earned it. I was also thinking of Adventures thru Inner Space, especially if L&S ends up elsewhere.

A new Hotel for Universal's Epic Universe at the Universal Orlando Resort

For today, we are gonna work together to come up with an idea for a new hotel/resort to be a part of the new expansion of the Universal Orlando resort! Universal's Epic Universe (Name provided by the Department of Redundancy Department) is set to be an amazing new theme park! And an amazing new theme park needs an amazing new hotel!

I call it Universal’s Epic Universe Hotel of sleeping and resting Hotel. The entire hotel is incredibly well-themed to whatever it is, but as current chairman of the hotel division Department of Redundancy Department this is the chosen name.

Universal's Epic Universe Hotel of Sleeping and Resting Hotel located steps away from Universal's Epic Universe and only short Universal Transport Bus ride away from Universal's Universal Studios Florida Park at the Universal Orlando Resort? I love it!

Universal Retro Suites; an ode to attractions long-passed, such as Back to the Future. Various eras as themes for blocks of rooms, sorta like Pop Century. It starts with the 1910s and progresses to the 2000s. You can watch a number of Universal films from each era.
A Pop Century style resort would be amazing! Mu biggest criticism with Universal as both a studio and as a park is the lack of care for legacy. Tossing out old rides and franchises, not caring if their new monster/adventure movies are crap despite using their most iconic franchises, constantly hunting for new and fresh at the expense of enduring charm... Universal is amazing in many ways, but the sense of legacy you get from Disney is just missing.

A pop century style resort would be a great way to showcase and honor that legacy in a simple, fresh way! I love that idea!!

I think I suggested this in a One Sentence Competition at some point, but I would love a Jaws themed resort!

Amityville Island Resort. A classic New England feeling and design. Constantly Fourth of July. Build the hotel so that all the rooms are in a ring facing inward at a lake that can do nightly outdoor showings of Jaws that you can watch while swimming.

I might include one or two old attractions as a “killer app” for the hotel... unless maybe “Retroversal Studios”, a new home for the best of outcast attractions would make a solid fourth gate! (It’s ironic that Universal has kept stuff like Dudley Do-Right around, though)

A hotel based around the Universal Monsters, which rooms based on each iconic monster and their respective environments, like a gothic bed chamber for Dracula, a laboratory for Frankenstein's Monster, a pharaoh's throne room or tomb for the Mummy, and a subaquatic swamp or the interior of a Louisiana boat.

It's clear that Nintendo is going to be the main selling point for this park. So I feel like there should be a resort to reflect that.
Here are some decent ideas;
  • Isle Delfino from Mario Sunshine
  • The big ghost hotel (or whatever it was called) from Luigi's Mansion 3
  • Animal Crossing resort
  • So, in the startup screen for the original Splatoon, you can see an Inkling's bedroom, that could make for a cool hotel.

Universal’s Hollywoodland
Theme: Los Angeles during the 1910s-1950s. Divided into three distinct wings; North is Elysian Valley; distinguishable from the other wings by its Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, and Latin American and Spanish music plays through the air here; the center is Tinseltown Square; everywhere you look, Art Deco is the genetic makeup of what is the largest wing, and everywhere you listen, jazz music plays all around; and the southern portion is Sunset Pass; a Streamline Moderne themed area offering gorgeous waterfront and landscape views similar to L.A.’s Little Venice. Rhythm and blues and rock and roll music fills the air at night and day respectively, setting the tone for each setting nicely.
Speaking of canals, the wings will be separated by canals as to help them not clash with each other. Guests have the option of crossing the many bridges to get to each island or take a relaxing boat ride around the canals to get to their destination.

The main building itself is based off of Los Angeles Union Station, and is even has a station of its own inside with a monorail that connects Hollywoodland to Epic Universe and old Universal.

A New Tomorrow(Land)

For today, we are gonna work together to come up with ideas to update and reinvigorate Tomorrowland! What Tomorrowland? Take your pick! Just about every Tomorrowland has something that is either already outdated, loosely tied to the theme, or soon to be outdated. So, choose a Tomorrowland and get creative!

I can't even describe how much money I would pay to stay in an Isle Delfino hotel!
