That’s clearly coming from Burbank all the way to the Bob’s, Josh had no control over who got fired or not. Heck not even the bob’s had control that’s all HR right there.
Try neither, they usually outsource this sort of dirty work to a third party then nod their heads

Florida doesn't contact trace, so there will never be a "Disney outbreak". It's like how if we didn't test anyone there'd be "no covid positive cases".

That said, I agree with some of what you say... We certainly need to figure out how to open up some things safely. But until people are comfortable coming we won't recover. And I don't mean disney superfans. I heard on the news the other day "Florida goes to phase 3 with full capacity indoor dining. Guess where I won't be going". Until the state is perceived as safe and is off of the quarantine lists we will not recover.

I understand and respect your small government ideals, but during a pandemic the government does have a public health responsibility and needs to tell us what to do.

I don’t have small government ideals. I’m just being realistic about the situation we have in the US.

Josh D’Maro was seen apologizing to cast members all day today in Downtown Disney. This man has my sincerest respect. Someone please tell me he’s being groomed for CEO someday. I can’t think of many instances where someone that high on the Eboard would share in the pain of fellow employees.

Seriously though, D’Maro for CEO.

In our society, many times the default reaction is cynicism. "Here's just doing that to show he cares and massage over the layoffs!" No, he's doing it because it's part of his character. You can't teach that. Definite respect. He's moved up rapidly -- President of both DLR and WDW and now Disney Parks. He's one to watch.

From a friend of a friend, the entire department at Disneyland that does the in-park guest surveys was cut. I am going to guess WDW’s was as well.

It's possible that WDW's in-guest surveys dept was cut but they have guests. DLR doesn't.

My bad, that's how I interpreted the last paragraph. I re-read and see what you mean. I think we'd both agree it shouldn't be this way.

Well, to be clear, I do have “small government ideals” in some areas. Not in this case, though. If there’s a viral pandemic and the government says a business is too high-risk to stay open - fine. But there better be just compensation. Partisan gridlock makes it harder to get anything accomplished in the US as compared to other developed nations. At this point, we’ve been left to the wolves.

I am more interested now in how long it would be before the average citizen dubs theme parks in general safe enough to come back to. The people that we see coming in now are the brave ones willing to jump through the hoops and requirements. When those restrictions are lowered though there's still discontent, "it's not safe!" So when would it be considered safe in the minds of the public?

That's a broad question that can't be answered in this forum and we will only find out after it has played out into 2021. But IMO it's something to keep in mind as we observe.

This is way worse than we realize. This is not normal layoffs. People are going into work and being fired the same day. Entire divisions are being eliminated.
To add to that IMO Disney will not be the same coming out of this. They aren't going bankrupt but more and more they becoming just another theme park. They have been slowly taking away the things that made Disney Disney

What exactly are those "things?" They've been "just another theme park" since the beginning.

The uniqueness of Disney parks is merely their size and scale. Beyond that? The rides and attractions are as entertaining as a Six Flags park.

Service, class, immersion??

Things present at WDW since ‘71.

Still present at TDR, still run under those principles.
Those principles were abandoned once they decided to become a publicly-traded conglomerate at the whims of profit-obssesed Wall Street bankers

Thank Eisner for that.
