20K Sub Capacity

Hi all.
I run a trivia contest on another site, and one of the questions I asked was in WDW's extinct attraction 20K, how many people (including the captain) could each sub hold?
I looked on several sites before asking the question and I found the answer to be 38 guests and 1 captain. So 39 total.
Some people are telling me they swear it is 40 guests and 1 captain. I did find the answer of 40 on wikipedia, but I don't consider that to be as reputable of a source as the other sites I saw.
So I figured someone here would know for sure. I don't want to tell someone they are wrong if they are really right.

Hopefullly none of them are reading this right now to get the answer, LOL. But oh well, I just want to be as accurate as I can.

I sent you a PM to a very authroitative site on 20k specifically.

Thanks so much. I have been reading through it.

The best 20k reference site on the net...

http://20kride.com/

Complete with a first hand account of snorkeling above the sub that's sunk out at Castaway Cay by myself!!

They said 38 passengers, like I read somewhere else. So far I am sticking with that. Thanks for the link!

There were 20 seats per side, making a full ship of 40 passengers. I worked 20K in the summer of 1985. Also, check the blueprints (in the Photo section) on the 20K site mentioned. You will see 20 portholes and also 20 seats in the down position. They are represented as horizontal lines under the portholes.

Hmmm....so 41 with the captain?

I see the blueprints on that site, but in the text he says 38 passenger subs.
Also Lou from DWT said 39 with the captain.

But the blueprints say 20 each side.

This is a tough one.
