^^^You beat me to it @NateD1226

That $50 million could end up being higher. Probably $110-$120 million Friday. Well over $200 million for the weekend. Since the WOM is so good, we could push $250 million.

It should be able to pull in $60 million Friday (not including previews), Saturday, and Sunday. That would give it $230 million easily for the weekend.

$50M Thursday total, $100M Friday likely.

Too bad there is so much Marvel fatigue going on. In 2021, Marvel movies only sit in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 23rd (that's right, spider-man after Thursday previews is struggling all the way down in 23rd for the year after Thursday previews). Maybe they should just stop making the movies now.

Shoot, where is that sarcasm tag...

Who's #4?

I need to know who to publicly disparage with my full nerdrage to discredit their achievement!

F9...I think they bought a few million tickets just to make sure they made the top 5 this year. Disgraceful. Eternals still 10.8 million behind them, just doesn't look like they will catch them, unless there was some crazy business for double features this weekend..

Just crazy - people finally decided to go back to the movies - Marvel is truly king.

The fact that the worst reviewed MCU movie which was outright banned in some countries is still going to make over $400 million worldwide in a pandemic year says almost as much, if not more, about the status of the Marvel brand than Spider-Man's numbers (which were always expected to be good).

I'm honestly pretty shocked with the early numbers being thrown around.

Good job @Jedijax719

Sony must be dancing a jig. If anything this probably strengthens their long term relationship with Disney.

Thanks, but I can't take any credit-I was tracking from Box Office Theory. They do some crazy work I don't even understand lol.

$230-$260 million range for OW. Possibly just under or even over The Force Awakens. I like Spiderman, but SW is obviously my passion so I have a personal desire for TFA to keep its place. But this is all VERY exciting to have a massive hit to follow once again during the holidays!

I'll already go out on a limb to say that this has a very good shot at beating Black Panther's domestic. Exciting, but I LOVE Black Panther! (my favorite MCU movie)

Early morning reports of $122.3 million opening day. That's $50 million previews (actual will probably be higher since it started at 3pm). $72.3 million actual Friday.

Looking at $80 million likely today with a smaller Sunday drop than usual due to holiday week. Opening weekend will almost definitely be over $250 million. It is possible that it will be upwards of $270 million.

While we wait for more details on the No Way Home numbers, there was a lot of shifting in release dates this week for 2022 and beyond films. BTW, the 2022 Box Office Tracking thread will start this New Years Eve in the TV Shows, Movies, and Music forum!
  • Marry Me - February 11, 2022
    • Release date stayed the same but will now be a hybrid release on Peacock
  • Fast & Furious 10 - May 19, 2023
    • Previous date: April 7, 2023
    • Sits in between GOTG3 and The Little Mermaid
  • Untitled DreamWorks Animation film - April 7, 2023
    • Took old F10 date
    • Previous date: March 24, 2023
  • Bullet Train - July 15, 2022
    • Previous date: April 8, 2022
    • Moved away from Sonic 2 and the new release date places the film by itself
  • Where the Crawdads Sing - July 22, 2022
    • Previous date: June 24, 2022
    • Now goes up against Nope (new Jordan Peele movie) and Under the Boardwalk (Paramount animation)
  • Ambulance - April 8, 2022
    • Previous date: February 18, 2022
    • Took Bullet Train's old date
  • The Black Phone - June 24, 2022
    • Previous date: February 4, 2022
    • Universal probably realized they have a hit on their hands after it premiered back in September
    • Currently at 100% on RT (only with 11 reviews)
    • Side note, if you are interested in this film, DON'T watch the trailer. It is basically the whole movie...
  • Blue Beetle - August 18, 2023
    • Previous date: Undated 2023
    • Was supposed to be an HBO Max exclusive, so it looks like it got an upgrade!
  • Toto - February 2, 2024
    • Brand new film
  • The Last Train to New York - April 21, 2023
    • Was undated

$121.5M Opening day total (including $50M from previews). No Way Home beat The Force Awakens by around $2M and was $36M away from beating Endgame.

Opening weekend now projected to be around $242M–$247.5M+ according to Deadline.

Thanks Nate. Deadline always undershoots. To do $247 million it will have to pull in an average of $62.5 million both today and tomorrow. I can see that number tomorrow, but today's should be much higher. I've already seen reports of about $73-$75 million.

Add in an A+ which it just got from audience cinemascore!

Reports of a $252-$257 million OW. $73 million Saturday.

I get the impression that it will be higher when actuals come in. Sunday theaters near me looked a LOT more full than what $58 million would be. Probably end up $260-$265 million when all is said and done.

For those who enjoy tracking box office, the mid-week totals will certainly be something fun to watch!
