I looked into that GO shuttle and it doesn't look like it would be any cheaper than doing Lyft/Uber.

Seems like you're going to pay upwards of maybe $200-250 round trip with rideshare or shuttle, or be at the mercy of train schedules, or perhaps you can consider just renting a car? How many days are you planning to be in SoCal?
I’m going to be there for a week. I don’t know if I can drive in LA though lol
Would be worth comparing the price though I suppose. Thanks for the suggestion. I think my hotel offers free parking too. I’ll check it out and let you know what I find!

If you go the car route, choose a company that lets you "skip the counter" (you just go get the car). That will save you a ton of time.

Also, you'd just be freeway driving, it won't be bad. It's not like you are driving in the middle of the city. It would be no worse than driving through Portland on I-5 with all those lane changes before the I-84 cutoff. You can do it.

I mean, the Pop is waaaayyyy better than what we're used to staying at on Harbor, and for about the same price, so we're kinda feelin like we'll be livin like kings.
It's truly a great resort. I always ask for the 50's section, pool view. When you walk out the back of the 50's, you are right at the Skyliner. They play 50's music all the time and it's a quieter section.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for calling it I-5.
Also thank you for the pep talk. Maybe I CAN do it!

LOL! Well, I AM from NORTHERN California, you know. :p

Seriously though, we have family in SW Washington and do the long drive twice a year. We are NOT city dwellers at all and the freeway trek from any SoCal airport to DL isn't any worse than the Portland area stuff. Just don't do it during commute time.

The way to DL would be about 130pm and the way back would be at like 4am haha.
Maybe I can rent a car at the airport and return it to the one near Disneyland.

When I did our planning for a 33 day trip from June 1st through July 3rd, aka Memorial Day Weekend through the July 4th Holiday weekend.

Now, I am taking an ECV, an Extra Battery, an UpWalker plus a medical bag (All at no charge due to ADA laws). plus a large regular bag each (Lisa and I), carry-ons, etc.

So parking at/near LAX was out due to costs.

Next was shuttles, and while a bit better in price, still a lot.

So used COSTCO rental car pricing and renting a car each way. This way we can pack the car the night before we go, drop stuff at the curb, and on the way back, return the car the next day. (Less than 24 hour use).

It was the cheapest and most convenient option.

I thought you were going to use a taxi and use all of @TP2000's tipping advice. :)

(No, I've never used that shuttle. Sorry.)

Oh my gosh, I had completely forgotten about that! 🤣

It was hysterical, and I absolutely loved helping Constance get over that social hurdle.

No matter how she gets from the airport to Disneyland, I know she is going to do all of us proud! (Hint: just be yourself, dear)

Yes, that is what we did

Ok, three hours ago, due to this thread, went to check on my car reservations.

Well, they were all messed up, and when I checked on the flight, well, United decided to stop the LAX-CLE non-stop flights....

So I got to figure out what I wanted to do. If I am going to do a one stop, I am NOT using LAX! So switched to John Wayne. Had to call to do this, as since it is United's fault, I don't have to use 1 extra mile, and the system wanted another 57,000! Got a great agent who took care of everything, including our Economy Plus seating due to ADA. But he had to get his supervisor, which took some time.

So decided to use Prime Time Shuttle and an Executive Van, about $75 each way. We have used them before without issue. And they service Bob Hope/Burbank.

I thought I saw on their website they didn’t go from BUR to DL. If they do, I’m definitely using them. Will double check. Thanks!

Did PrimeTime get bought out by Opoli?

Seems like they are independent, but part of the Go Network.

I just contacted PrimeTime from their app (because the app was saying there is no service from BUR to DL and they told to go to Opoli. 🤔

Looks like Opoli is a sister company to Prime Time, both based in the LA area.
That can't be true. Their websites look nothing alike...

That reminds me...

I-84 in Portland is called the Banfield Freeway. And relatives in Oregon call it "taking the Banfield" to get to the airport. The phrase "the Banfield" is used often by Portlanders in conversation, traffic reports, etc. Do we vilify Portlanders for that localism? No!

And thus, that sheds some light on why those of us in SoCal call freeways "the 5", "the 405", or "the 57". Because historically those freeways all had names, and all still do. Some of us old timers even still call the freeways by their proper names; "the Santa Ana Freeway", "the San Diego Freeway", "the Hollywood Freeway". In the past few decades those names have fallen out of favor in news reporting and thus casual conversation, but the naming format remains as "the" and then the number of the freeway instead of the name.

I have no idea what the point of this was. I was just happy to type something after pouring myself a glass of post-dinner Cabernet. :)

Got into this with my wife.

Why do Brits/Aussies say someone is going to Hospital?

They don't use "the" in this case.

I've always loved BBC dramas and comedies, but have never understood why the British say that.

But their pronunciation of the word "aluminum" is more troubling to me.

No wonder they needed our help to defeat the Germans. Twice.
