Eisner's Game Round One (Part 1)
For this challenge, imagineers were tasked with designing a futuristic theme park on a space cruise ship with the capability of interstellar travel.
Introduction
The year is 2466 AD
Hundreds of years ago, the words
"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" ushered in a wave of space exploration and opened our eyes to the enlightenment of human discovery. For decades later, we strove to reach beyond our earth, and explore the great beyond.

2466 - Disney Nebula blasts off for the first time.
What is the Disney Nebula?
The Disney Nebula is the first of a Disney Space Cruise Line fleet that offers one of the most unique experiences in the universe that you can find. The massive circular ship, with a diameter of 10 football fields, is essentially, a flying Disney Resort. Acting as both a theme park and a space cruise, the Disney Nebula offers guests a unique interpretation of the Magic Kingdom to enjoy while sailing the stars towards different habitable planets in the universe for you as guests to explore.
How do you board the Disney Nebula?
Docked in atmospheric earth, a space elevator will allow transport to the mast of the ship - and you and your family will board the ship from the space elevator docking terminal.
What is there to do on the Disney Nebula?
On board the ship - you will find the magic of a Disney Resort - in the confines of a space ship traveling at lightspeed through the galaxy.
Accommodating rooms, luxurious restaurants, theatrical plays, and more exist inside the ship. The enormous sphere in the center contains the theme park and entertainment zones. Wherever you might end up aboard the ship, you'll always fine some bit of the Disney touch as you travel through the stars.
How does the Disney Nebula fly?
The Disney Nebula uses the Warp Drive 4.0 engine with Mach 7 lightspeed capabilities. In addition - to maintain gravity, the circular designed ship creates artificial gravity by rotating on its axis and spinning at a constant speed as it travel to its destinations.
Disney Nebula Crew
Most of guest services and on stage personnel will be robots over laid with human features for a more comfortable guests experience. These full motion range robots will operate the attractions, cook in the restaurants, and handle all custodial concerns. Where possible, automation will take over for their human counterparts. This will improve guest service as all robots will be downloaded with many languages and dialects specific to each planet in the known universe. No longer will communication be limited as in the past. To further assist with this issue, automatic language translations are available under each area name.
Although much of the work has been automated, there are still many squads of human cast members to keep an eye on the ship and help in emergency situations including in extreme cases that require the guests to leave the ship. The crew of support staff operates in rotations of four, so there is always a human element on duty. All support staff work and live in the double outer rings, not only to keep the on stage illusion for guests, but to provide the human support crew with their own personal space to relax and interact with each other.
Crew quarters are far more luxurious than on any previous vessel. Dealing with the rigors of long times in space, each crew member is offered a bigger room complete with a small kitchen, ample seating, and access to various entertainment options.
Like the 20th century Aircraft carriers, each support staff crew member has their own role primarily designated by the color of the jumpsuit they wear. These jumpsuits are required for all on duty, human personnel to quickly determine to their fellow crew members what their job is. These jumpsuits also identify the difference between human and machine.
Mission Control is a facility that manages the space flight path of the Disney Nebula. A staff of flight controllers and other support personnel monitor all aspects of the ship's flight path using telemetry, and send commands for course alterations. Personnel support staff can include representatives of the attitude control system, power, propulsion, thermal, attitude dynamics, orbital operations and other subsystem disciplines. Although much of the process and day to day operations are automated, there is always human support staff stationed there as well.
There are a plethora of first aid station located through out the theme park worlds, but there is also full med facility staffed with doctors with the capability to consult specialists if the need ever arises. Serious cases may have to disembark and be taken planet side. There are even privacy pods to assist the symptoms of space sickness.
Fire Response Units
All fires are initially handled by robots, Dicers, that are attached to a sliding mechanism along the full length of the corridors. When a fire is detected a small device is released to attempt to put out the fire.
D (Detect) I (Isolate) C (Confine) E (Extinguishing) R (Robotics)
If the fire is deemed too severe for automated services, the human firefighters, Slicers, will engage the blaze.
S (Size-Up) L (Locate the Fire) I (Isolate the flow patch) C (Cool from a safe distance) E (Extinguish) R (Rescuer)
Although most maintenance for both theme park and the Nebula ship is performed by robots, there are still several shifts of maintenance personnel working around the clock to ensure the ship and all its amenities run smoothly. This support staff's main job is to repair what the automated machines cannot and to fix the repair bots if they malfunction.
Shuttles
At the start of their vacations, guests can arrange from shuttle transportation from the planet to the Disney Nebula.
This luxury shuttle will be the first thing Disney guests see so the interior must be state of the art with a cool, clean look. Guests can watch movies, conduct last minute business, or even manage their vacation plans from their seats while they travel to the ship.
Constellation Salon and Spa
Situated near the Theatre District, the Constellation Salon and Spa is the premiere way to relax and pamper yourself and offers multiple spa and beauty treatments.
Spa Treatments:
- massages
- body wraps
- facials
- aromatherapy
- teeth whitening
- and much more
Salon Services :
- manicures

Once on board the Disney Nebula, guests can find several help desks scattered across the ship. If the personal help screen in each guest room was not helpful, the automated personnel will be glad to assist with any guest questions or concerns. A live person may also be contacted for further assistance at these locations.
Excursions Desk
If the automated help screen in each guest rooms was not helpful, please visit the Excursion Desk to alter or cancel any planetary excursions.
Atlas Star System Itinerary
Although several days will be spent traveling through space, giving guests time to enjoy the theme park portion of the ship, there will be four planetary stops. These stops will not only allow new guests to board and start their vacations and simultaneously lets guests disembark at the end of theirs, these planetary stops will offer various excursions while the Disney Nebula is stationed in orbit. These excursions add a little variety to an otherwise strict theme park experience and gives guests an opportunity to explore worlds outside their own galaxy, possibly for the first time.
1. Xanadu
2. Lazarus
3. Cesium
4. Egreog
Excursions
One of the very first planets mankind walked on outside the solar system, Xanadu, was discovered by A.I.R (Association for Intergalactic Reconnaissance). After one of A.I.R.’s long-range telescopes picked up a potentially habitable planet in the Atlas Star System, 2.5 light years away, Planet X171, Emmanuel Wu sent orbiters to the planet to research its contents and determine if it was a habitable. Deemed similar to Earth’s atmosphere, Wu gathered his team, Maggie Wright, Tom Edson, and Sam Davis to prepare to journey to X171. The planet was eventually named Xanadu, after Wu’s wife who died in a tragic accident on an earlier test of the new Aries rockets. Thanks to the findings of Wu and his team, a colony was established on this planet and grew into a heavily populated community and the first stepping stone for humanity to explore the galaxy. Sivad, the most valuable resource on the planet, is also its biggest export. This planet has a lavender moon that is home to a unique rock, Secretous787, not found anywhere else in the solar system.
Xanadu Excursion One – A.I.R. Musuem
The A.I.R. Museum was founded by Emmanuel Wu soon after colonists started arriving on Xanadu. He created it so newcomers would be able to experience the history of A.I.R. and why it came to be. Many interactive displays in the museum feature information about the indigenous life on Xanadu as well as the colonies on Titan and Mars. Officially run by a great descendant of Wu’s, the A.I.R. Museum immortalizes all of the discoveries and history of these brave explorers.
Xanadu Excursion Two – Decoris Canyon Adventure
Hike through the forest and meet up with your guides at your campsite to begin a boating trip down the neon blue plasma river. Breathe in the beautiful scenery, and keep your holo cams ready as a variety of wildlife can often be seen at the river’s edge, including: Trankertops and Septarus. Guests will disembark at Decoris Canyon where refreshments will be served and allow for short explorations. Back on board the boats, guests will continue through Decoris Canyon before returning to camp.
Xanadu Excursion Three – Space Rover Safari
Drive your very own space rover and roar over the rocky terrain to see the natural wonders of Xanadu. Sights include the Decoris Canyon Rim, forest trails, and the various wildlife, such as Trankertops and Septarus.
Xanadu Excursion Four – Lavender Moon Dig Site
From the Disney Nebula, guests will be shuttled to the Lavender Moon to pan and search for Secretous787. Each guest will be shown the best ways to find this unusual rock and given techniques on how to safely excavate it. Then guests are let loose to search for any deposits and try to find this elusive rock. Any Secretous787 found may be claimed and sold at the on-site purser or taken home as one most unique souvenirs of the Atlas Star System.

Cesium is a rare Earth metal that is commonly called the most active metal on earth due to its liquificaiton at room temperature. However, due to immense cosmic radiation over the years, scientists and astronauts, in their exploration of the universe after the discovery of warp drive, found a planet in the X2 galaxy that has developed a large amount of liquid cesium.
This cesium however, is different than on earth - the astronauts realized that whatever elements were on the planet reacted with their nervous systems and musculature systems - giving them the ability to jump very high, in particular due to lower atmospheric gravity concentrations and whatever radioactive cesium material was on the planet.
In order to ensure this radioactive material wasn't harmful - you wear cosmic radiation protective suits when visiting the land - and when the Disney space cruises decided that this would be a good location - they themed the planet to superheros from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now the cosmic radiation suits are themed to characters from the films - such as Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Star-Lord, War Machine, Falcon, and so on -- all super-heroes with some capacity of flying and jumping high. The true attraction on Cesium isn't any sort of colony or habitat, as no sentient life has been found on the planet, but a quick road trip stop to be a superhero on your journey through space aboard the Disney Nebula.
4 - Egroeg
The Fourth planetary stop is Egroeg, a primarily mining planet that provides most of the galaxy’s precious minerals. As an extremely important resource, this planet was mined heavily, so much so, that vast tracks of land have become little more than wastelands, populated with large swaths of deserts broken up by smaller mountain ranges. In an effort to stem the destruction of this planet, strict limits were put on how much can be mined per year, saving what little woodland remained, but leaving the majority of the populace struggling for money. It was fortunate that around this time Disney was looking for a permanent back drop for a new series of Star Wars movies and TV shows. Egroeg and its two moons, Nontlaw and Sacul, were deemed perfect replacements for the CG that was slowly becoming an overused tool. Great Star Wars films like: The Sith Wars Trilogy, The Origin Trilogy, Invasion of the Yuuzahn Vong, as well as the controversial reboots of the Original Trilogy and the Pre-quel Trilogy and the popular TV shows: Droids and Underground were all filmed on location here. As permanent set pieces remain scattered around Egroeg and both its moons, it has become a popular tourist spot for Star Wars enthusiasts. As part of the agreement between Disney and the people of Egroeg, tours can be offered when not filming, and thus, tourism became the supplemental income of Egreog. To further increase revenues, several interactive adventures are offered to make fans feel as if they have stepped into the Star Wars movies.
Excursion One: Star Wars – The Movies (Utapau, Ilum)
This tour will meet in the shuttle hanger where guests will board one of five different shuttles, each designed like of the great droids featured in different Trilogies (R2-D2, BB-8, Bollux and Blue Max, Proxy, or MSE-6) and then flown to Egroeg for this guided tour. During the flight time, the shuttle’s windows show that it has entered into lightspeed. This tour will feature the sets of the giant sinkhole cities of Utapau featured in Invasion of the Yuuzahn Vong, the kyber crystal caves of Ilum shown in the second of the Origins Trilogy movies, and Rishi caverns. Lunch will be provided.
