2015 theme park attendance

I see a couple things happening with the numbers.

#1 Seaworld is dying, its slow but inevitable, The park could be turned into Universal's third gate
#2 MK is the MK slam in every day, every kid wants to go
#3 Disney construction is slowest thing ever, what are they doing that it takes WDW to do anything in a semi timely manor?
# The parks other than the MK need to find an identity of their own, that they are attractions to themselves and not just a we bought a park hopper we have to go to the other parks for at least a couple hours, Star Wars will help studios, Frozen looks like the wrong decision for Epcot, it would be better to attract a more mature adult crowd there, not thrill seekers per say but adults willing to open their wallets on food and things that keep adults occupied. AK with Pandora should help.

But then again Disney needs to put the foot on the gas with construction. It feels like whomever is doing their construction management works for department of transportation that doesn't care when things get done.

Actually TWDC is a member of TEA and provides the numbers. It's part of membership. Not only that, but many of Disney's divisions are also members of TEA.

Wether how accurte they are are up to the member being honest.

If Disney were providing that information to analysts, it would be open for disclosure to everyone. They can't selectively disclose non-public information to whom they want and withhold it from others. That's the basis for insider trading :)

The fact DHS is holding steady is a miracle and a half! I hardily agree, even on the busiest days of of spring break the park was empty!

I think Disney bumped the numbers to make sure they stayed ahead of Universal. To the general public, it won't be a big deal. But when Disney loses one of the top spots to Universal, which will more than likely happen this year, it's going to be a HUUUGE embarrassment for the company.

And how did Disney bump the numbers? They didn't compile the report.

Executives where? Mistakes do happen.

On the ANNUAL REPORT, Not usually in corporate america the annual report is the be all and end all of documents where even the paper stock is the subject of endless meetings, This is not the employee newsletter this is an example of a BoD which is out of touch with it;s businesses. It would be like Boeing putting a picture of an Airbus on the cover of their annual report (of course with Boeing's current management in Chicago something along those lines might happen as Boeing exec's don't fly their own aircraft they fly Gulfstream so they might not recognize the mistake either)

This is not the Annual Report for The Walt Disney Company. It is the annual Theme Index published by the TEA.

But it shows how little the execs know about the parks since they approved the
report with such a glaring visual error

No executive approves fluff like that on a picture by picture basis. In any case, no one has to set foot in a theme park to be able to analyze its numbers. It's only a "glaring" error to obsessive Disney Parks fans.

Some intern screwed up a caption. It's been fixed very quickly. People are breathing WAY too much into this. If I were them and I saw this, I'd be laughing at folks, and a link would make it's way around the office for everyone to get a good chuckle. And they wouldn't be laughing with those folks....

Oh wait, is that the problem? He's mouthing off and doesn't even know what he is going on about...ah, got ya. ;)

Same criticism applies, On a organization annual report of anything you simply DO NOT make this kind of mistake, It tends to be a 'career limiting move'. And if at your shop you have interns working unsupervised and unchecked like this please tell us your company so we can avoid your products and services.

An annual publication is not the same as an annual report.

Guys don't worry about SEAWORLD - their new CEO has big plans. You see the park is about marine life - all that marine life like Sharks, Whales, Dolphins, exotic sea creatures, conservation, etc - you could build whole worlds around IP like this. But no this CEO wants to put in another pathetic roller coaster, whilst removing their one 'controversial' top attraction and not addressing how to replace it.

That should have them flocking in. Universal should be shaking in their boots. Kudos to this sleeping walking CEO.

What? Manby has been around for just over one year. Mako was already in development and he has already initiated a more aggressive schedule of development than what previously existed.

Hey now, someone just lost a $100 dollar to charity bet from a couple years ago. I don't remember who but a poster here needs to pay up.

The Universal parks in Florida will not be outdrawing any park at WDW anytime soon.

Jimmy Thick-Easy win for me.

Unless there is massive investment, year on year Sea World is going to fail. Otherwise i have no idea what their plan is.

What is this aggressive schedule of development you speak off? I see no new major attractions on the horizon.

.....also Udvar-Hazy in the Top 15 in North America at 1.6M people. Lets hear it for free educational museums!

For those who haven't bothered to read the report, TEA also tracks Museum attendance.

Except for the $15 Parking fee at Udvar-Hazy..... unless you arrive after 4pm.
