I don't think they clear the park like they used to do. A lot of day guests are still in the park during the Halloween party aren't they?

I'm sure a couple manage to survive the purges and drag lines, but no, they still make an effort to sweep out the non-armbanded.
There are checks in front of the entrance to every attraction, and picket lines set up across the major pathways during the first hour and a half or so.

I've never attempted this, but given the system they have in place, I think it would be VERY hard to try and just stay in the park when the party begins.

Even guests whose dining reservations caused them to be in a restaurant after after 7:00 are walked out of the park by a cast member after they're finished eating.

So I didn't want to hijack this thread to ask my own questions but, welp, here we go; I'm going to Disney World next month, September 9 - 11 (arriving in Orlando on the 8th and leaving on the 12th) and I was wondering, how soon into September do they start putting up the Halloween decorations? I've never been to Disney World when they had holiday decorations up and thought it would be cool to see some while I'm there =)

I just remember a ton of people without armbands walking around the party the last time we went (2013).

They are up in time for the first party which is the 15th. Since the decorations go up overnight, you may not see them. MK is the only park that is decorated for fall.

We always go over Labor day week & they've always been up regardless of when MNSSHP started. I believe the 2nd to last week in August is when they go up. Halloween merch & decoration inside the stores on Main street has already started.

I'm a MNSSHP virgin, and I'm so excited to be there 10/1!

Since you apparently know ... what is the actual number?
I know back in 2007 the number of tickets sold was 20,000. I know it has gone up since then, I have been there almost every year for the last 10 years or so. I'll be there Sept 18th. Anyway I'll have to say it's at least 30 to 35 thousand. I'm not sure on this, but I have watched the crowds grow over the last 10 years....

No. They are extremely thorough in clearing out the day guests. They actually go person to person asking for wrist bands. The chances of remaining in the park during one of the ticketed events is very low.

This will be our first time @ the party so forgive me for asking a question that may already have been answered numerous times. I will have a magic band but they also sent me a card/ticket for the party. We plan on being at MK for the entire day of the party. DO I have to tote my party ticket around or is wearing my band enough?

This should help.
Everything you need to know about using MyMagic+ during ticketed events

But in a nutshell, you will need to get a wrist band for the event, regardless of if you have a MagicBand or not. Your party wrist band can be issued by scanning your MagicBand, so in theory, you do not need your party ticket.

I think that was the first year we did it as well and it was a ghost town no pun intended.

We did it twice last year and once the year before ... Last year was the most crowded I have ever seen it and it was not a sell out, thats what leads me to believe that number is close to 40K now.

Yup. I was thinking 35,000 but maybe 40....
